  • Reactive Attachment Disorder is common between the age of 9 months to 5 years old. It is a condition in which the child does not form a strong and secure bond with their main care giver. This is caused by either trauma or neglect over a long period of time. What most people aren't aware of is the fact that the neglect can be either intentional or unintentional. Sometimes something as simple as introducing a sibling or transitioning to a daycare can trigger a reactive attachment disorder in your child. So in this video, signs you should be looking for that indicates that your child might be experiencing a reactive attachment disorder as well as possible treatment options are provided. Reactive attachment disorder is a serious condition that can have a huge impact on the child's life into adulthood so it should be treated as soon as possible.

It’s so sad to think of a child having difficulty getting attached to their caregivers.. 😢

Absolutely! It is so sad because their caregiver is their ‘safe place’. Without it the entire world and life would be so scary for them 😢

@@DaddyDirective, one thing that was so eye opening was when you said that it could be intentional as well as unintentional. It really made me do a second take to think about the things I do completely unintentionally.
Our reactions and responses are so important...

@@onedadsperspective1506 yup! As I was digging deeper and deeper, more and more I began to realize the effect we have on our children regardless of whether we intended certain things or not. Our children truly are the reflection of ourselves!

@@DaddyDirective, so scary, man. You try to do what’s best but will not truly know what kind of effect we have on them until they’re older....

@@onedadsperspective1506 well at the very least we won’t be ‘ignorant’ of its possible effects. 👍 so we have ahead start compared to many dads out there 😉

    A lot of issues here.
    !. RAD is extremely rare.
    2. There is no evidence that RAD has ever been developed by transitioning to daycare, in fact it's almost impossible. RAD is developed by persistent, long term neglect.
    3. There is no evidence RAD has ever developed because of a new sibling being introduced
    4. you only got one symptom correct. Indiscriminate affection.
Your "treatment" methods are not scientific. In fact, there is NO treatment for RAD. you can only treat the effects of RAD.
Finally, unless there is persistent, long-term, SEVERE, abuse or neglect, your child will not develop RAD.
Rad almost exclusively forms in children that are in the foster care system or orphanages.
This video is essentially 5 minutes of pure nonsense. As someone who actually has RAD, this is borderline offensive and minimizes the agony of my condition.
