Hypothermia Symptoms, Prevention & Treatment | PC/Xbox/PS

HYPOTHERMIA occurs when your survivor is freezing due to their body temperature being too low. This loss of body heat is caused due to a prolonged exposure to cold weather or water, as well as not wearing the correct protective gear for the conditions. Rapidly resulting in adverse effects to your players stats, including health loss, increased calorie consumption and influenza.
The earliest symptom of HYPOTHERMIA is shivering. Your survivor will cup their hands over their mouth and blow into them. They will next audibly quaver and rub their arms with their hands. Immediately after recognizing this animation, you should seek refuge in a warm and dry environment.
When your survivor becomes cold, the temperature symbol on your status bar will drop until becoming blue. Once this thermometer icon becomes empty, you are suffering from HYPOTHERMIA.
Let's examining the primary cause of HYPOTHERMIA within the DayZ universe; Moisture.
Players become wet when they are exposed to rain or become submerged in any body of water. When your survivor encounters moisture, a status indicator appears next to your core immunity stats. Once you're no longer exposed to the elements, your moisture level will decrease gradually until you are completely dry. The longer you expose your player to these conditions, the more progressively saturated you, your clothing and accessories become.
The 4 Stages of Moisture are:
⦁ DAMP
⦁ WET
⦁ SOAKED
⦁ DRENCHED
Obviously, the best way to prevent over-saturation of your survivor and items is by avoiding the elements. Try not to travel long distances outdoors during a downpour. However, if you must, run beneath natural cover such as tree canopies and man-made shelters such as pavilions, bridges and awnings to buffer the rain.
HEAT PACKS are a quick and simple solution to exposure. Make sure to wear them inside of your shirt or pants. As the closer they are to the skin, the better. Take the HEAT PACK to your hand and you will receive the prompt to activate it. Keep in mind, the packs are a preventative measure and not a solution, because they are not very effective at warming up a person who is already HYPOTHERMIC.
Sprinting will increase your core temperature, but only for a brief period. The safest practice is to periodically take a break inside structures with an intact roof. Remove your wet clothes, take them to your hands and you'll be prompted to ring them out. Drying clothes and accessories can be expedited by placing the wet items down near a fire or by positioning your player near a fire.
NEAR A FIRE! NOT IN OR ON A FIRE!
Another, albeit much slower, option for drying your clothes once the rain has stopped is to air-dry. Run or jog continuously and you will eventually become dry. Windy weather conditions along the beaches or in open fields will expedite this process.
DayZ has an ultra-realistic seasonal system. In the autumn and winter months, exposure to inclement weather conditions will exacerbate the adverse effects to your survivor's stats. During these seasons, a visible cloud of breath can be seen emitting from your player's face. This is an early indicator that you should scavenge for COLD PROTECTIVE & WATER RESISTANT CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT.

⦁ FIREFIGHTER ENSEMBLE JACKET AND PANTS.
⦁ GHILLIE SUITS, BUSHRAGS, CLOAKS AND HOODS.
⦁ HUNTER JACKETS & HUNTER PANTS.
⦁ BDU JACKETS AND PANTS.
⦁ FIELD JACKETS.
⦁ RIDER'S JACKET.
⦁ BALACLAVAS AND SKI MASKS.
⦁ AS WELL AS MOST BOOT AND GLOVE VARIANTS.
WATER RESISTANT CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT:
Now let's peruse some WATER RESISTANT CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT which includes:
⦁ GORKA JACKET AND PANTS
⦁ CUU JACKET AND PANTS
⦁ OREL JACKET AND PANTS
⦁ RIDERS JACKETS AND BOMBER JACKETS
All provide significant protection from moisture due to their low rates of absorption.
TREATMENT:
To remedy hypothermia, you must increase your core body temperature and restore your core stats. Get out of the cold and dry your clothing. Craft a fireplace kit and place it in a safe and secluded area free from wind, rain and moisture. Rekindle the fire to keep it aflame until you're survivor and gear are dry and your Core Temperature icon becomes white again.

This is why I love dayz. Only game that I know of that takes foliage into account for blocking rain.

@@Thoroughly_Wet cartel is a great server on Xbox DayZ it’s a community server and the people are usually nice and want to go on adventures. Also when u do come across more aggressive people they don’t just shoot on site. They will take u hostage and shit. It’s a very fun server

I found out about hot food from cooking two goats and putting all the meat in my vest. Honestly for the PS4 (I imagine it applies to PC too) all you need is 7 pieces of burnt fruit, ideally apples or plums which only take one slot. That will keep your temperature yellow and during the coldest nights it will lower down to white. With 7 burnt apples on my vest of 100 Celsius I never have to hide from the cold or the rain. You will also loose food and water level at a lower pace and you can sprint for long distances. With my yellow temperature and eating cooked fat I spent 2.5 hours moving barrels without eating a single food or drink. Unlike heat packs that take up more slots and get ruined the burnt fruit so far has always worked and helped me a ton with base building and travelling long distances.
@@ArchieStormcloudOfficial you can cook worms? I've seen the dig out worms but never dug them out. Thats good to know hopefully it lasts a little longer for the PS4. It's helped me out a lot to settle into Dayz. I just bought it on steam too I want to play with mods as many UA-camrs play in moded servers that looks more fun. Thanks for the reply.
I've also seen, that if other measures are impossible to do, it's better to take off clothes rather than sit in them.

Just cold, if clothes are damaged you will find they aren’t as good at keeping you warm, if it’s light blue it’s ok, just keep going if it’s dark blue then u have hypo
Does the fire place need to be in a chiminey or secluded area what do you mean specifically by that because i crafted a fire place and i took my clothes off and put it next to the fire place and it just made my temperature bar go up but my player is still coughing and sneezing and i tried every pills i think to cure it all i wana do is put a bullst on the players head and loos everything
