Crazy Stupid Love is an absolute gem of a movie! Steve Carell delivers a standout performance as Cal, a middle-aged man trying to navigate life after his marriage falls apart. His character is both relatable and endearing, and you can't help but root for him throughout the film. Ryan Gosling is equally impressive who takes Cal under his wing. His charm and charisma are off the charts, and he brings a much-needed edge to the rom-com genre.
And then you have Emma Stone, who's as charming as ever. Her chemistry with Gosling is electric, and their banter is so quick-witted. Julianne Moore is fantastic in this. She plays Carell's soon-to-be-ex-wife, and her comedic timing is on point. You have a 13-year-old boy in love with his babysitter, a twist we did not see coming there in the film..... you know what part. Also Kevin Bacon and everyone else was just amazing in this too! Just an awesome film! Thank you all for this!

My favorite moment is the look Gosling gives Carell when he opens his velcro wallet. You can just see the stuff going through his head, he's so upset about it.

The build up to: "Stay away from my daughter!" "No, you stay away from my daughter!" "I don't even know you!" has to be one of the best in cinema ever

@@cocoidiea8643 But that's really the way Ryan laughs when he's not expecting something. You can see it in an interview with Graham Norton and Harrison Ford, the exact same thing happened to him and he reacted the same way.
when ryan gosling laughs at the cop that was actually him breaking character and they kept it in the movie! one of my favorite parts

I saw it on accident when it first came out. The movie I wanted to see was sold out and I ended up buying a ticket to see this instead and I am SO GLAD bc this movie is one of my FAVORITES now

Gosling does not get enough credit for his comedic timing. Ever see THE NICE GUYS with him & Russell Crowe? Hilarious!

The writing in this movie is so genuine and I think that's what makes it so good. All of the jokes are structured around slice of life humor and not silly gaffes or pratfalls like a lot of romantic comedies in the 2000s (which I love in their own way). I like that it's not exactly a romance not exactly a comedy not exactly a drama, but fuses all of those genres together and takes its time with the story. It reminds me a lot of Nora Ephron movies like When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it!

Seeing this in theaters was such a blast. The plot twist with Cal sleeping with Robbie’s teacher had the entire theatre belly laughing, and then the second plot twist that ended with the scuffle in the backyard had everyone SCREAMING. This is one of the best romcoms to come out in the last 20 years imo; there’s been some hits since this movie, but they’ve been few and far in between because the majority of Hollywood is so focused on reboots and seems so anti-romcom these days. I miss the years when romcoms saturated movie releases.
The whole character cluster at the end is one of the best collision of storylines I’ve seen. Love this movie
This is definitely one of my absolute favorite movies. The end scuffle just kills me every time.
I think you guys would love a movie called Death At A Funeral, but the UK version, it's the original. The cast is absolutely great, including, Mathew Macfadyen, Alan Tudyk, and Peter Dinklage. It's absolutely hilarious.

Aside from the child pornography and the poor message of not respecting a person's choice/boundaries when they say they're not interested, this movie is perfection. The writing, the acting, the twist, and especially Marisa Tomei. Thanks for watching this.

I love how in the beginning Jacob was teaching Cal to be more like him, and in the end he wants to learn how to be more like Cal.

I've always said this is the greatest comedy ever made. It's got heart, humor, romance, and cringe. It's grounded in reality and very witty. It pushes the boundaries of what is appropriate. It has a host of characters that you care about portrayed by some really great actors. It even has a twist to boot. 10/10

The “I’m so glad you bought me that ice cream.” And “Me too.” always makes me tear up.
I love that they don’t fully get back together but they acknowledge that they have three beautiful kids, they’ve both grown and know that there’s still a lot of love and respect for each other left.
I was visiting family in California, went out to play basketball with a cousin and all his friends. Went to his friends house where they ordered pizza and ordered this movie to watch. I thought it was so weird watching a rom com with nothing but guys. Did not stop laughing for the longevity of this movie, the twist at the end had us looking like girls at a slumber party. I became a fan of Gosling after this movie. His mannerisms, and the whole scene when they go shopping for new clothes is phenomenal. Always a great memory any time I get to rewatch this movie!

Between the awesome cast and the great twist at the end this is a underrated classic comedy. This is one of those where you don't expect it to be as great as it is.
You guys have to look up the Graham Norton interview where Ryan and Emma talk about the behind the scenes of the lift it's hilarious.

I don't think I've seen you guys laugh so hard before, this movie is great, you can watch it growing up and each time you're on the shoes of another character but watching it with you enhance the experience so it's even better

One of my favorite comedies! And this was such a perfectly casted movie as well. As you said, no one else could have played Cal.

My biggest laugh during this reaction was in the review when Mason was talking about Marisa Tomei: "...we haven't seen her since Spiderman as Aunt Bea...". She was Aunt Mae, Aunt Bea was from the Andy Griffith show! Anyway, great reaction to a great movie.

I threw this thing on one night flipping through Netflix years ago mostly for background. Holy hell I ended up loving this movie.
I watched this the other day with my dad.
Now I get to watch it again with my dudes!
This has the best climax and twist in Rom Com history. And Gosling simply hits this roll out of the park!

Finally some attention. This movie is infinitely watchable for me. Excellent writing with logical progression based on the characters. Nothing is jarring or out of place, it’s extremely enjoyable. Love it.

Just a little comment - at approximately 27:27 when Emily is super upset at Cal after finding out he's been sleeping with a bunch of people, I think the thing that actually upset her the most, and the reason she says to him, "Who are you?" is because she thinks that, the special thing he used to tell her, "You're the perfect combination of sexy and cute." was used as a line to pick up another woman.
So, while I think she accepts that she has no right to judge him or be angry at all with the fact that he's sleeping with other women (even if it understandably makes her sad) it's more the fact that he used something that she thinks of as a special and intimate thing between them as a couple, as a way to score. I think that's the part that really hurt her. Of course, Cal didn't really mean to use the line, it was just all a big miscommunication. Something this film uses a lot, which is a trope that I often dislike, but it's all so perfectly executed here that it raises this film high up on my list.

The scene with Ryan and Emma at his house that night is one of my favorite romantic comedy scenes ever. It’s just so sweet and wholesome, regardless of the fact that she only went there to bang the hot guy that hit on her at the bar
A small detail that no one has seen: at minute 13:20, the first girl Ryan Gosling flirts with is Crystal Reed, one of the female protagonists of Teen Wolf (2011).

Nah when it came out everyone I talked to about it was really confused about why it seemed like we were meant to feel bad for her. I don't care if your partner isn't pulling their weight. You communicate and if they don't try, then you break up or divorce. You don't cheat. It's just scummy.

This was such a fun reaction/watch! I absolutely love this movie! The first time I watched it was a blind watch, I just bought it and put it on because the cover looked interesting when it was still fairly new. This is def an underrated romantic comedy...so many perfect moments!
According to "Finding Your Roots" Marrisa Tomei and Julianne Moore are distant cousins and they went to school together.
