Game-changer! I've been learning music production for almost a year, and quickly realized I never learned to sing. I had Essential (bundled) for months before I learned how to use it, so I hesitated to upgrade to Assistant... but now I'm determined to learn all the editing tricks (also committed to developing my voice so I don't need to do so much editing). As the quality of my beat/track production improves, I definitely want vocals that work when I comp songs. So far I'm blown away...like 👀"Who dat singin'?" lol

Just started using assistant when trying to correct a major glitch in a VO already purchased. I have obviously been hunting in the wrong places for a quick ramp-up on Melodyne. Great video....you saved my day and the cost of another VO.

I’ve used Antares auto tune for months now and every time i record it’s littered with pops and clicks. Ive used melodyne before and it’s amazing so I’m gonna get assistant soon

Without sounding like an Autotune or vocoder And if so, how to proceed please And in a second time harmonize this main voice, by taking back the starting voice which is spoken? A bit like you would do with a vocoder... except that with the vocoder you are robotic … Thank you very much for your answer. Hello Arthec. Since you already have Melodyne assistant, you can try it for yourself: Open a spoken voice recording and tune the words or syllables to your liking. The results will depend on the sound quality of your original recording and the intervals you’re tuning to. But generally speaking, yes, this is totally possible.
Hey Rich... I'm just wondering... why does there seem to be such a pronounced time lag (latency) between when a note/phrase is played visually in an example and when it actually sounds. For example, when she sings "re-mem-ber" right after 5:49, there is noticeable latency between when the cursor sweeps over the notes and when we actually hear her voice. I noticed that latency over the entire video.
Help me!!! I just upgraded to assistant but ITS NOT WORKING! It says melodyne player in the top not melodyne assistant and the transfer button does not work , I intalled the new update I clicked on the button that says activate when I open melodyne and it says it was activated whats going on?

Sure. You don’t have to use Melodyne on everything and tune it 100%. How much you want to apply tuning (or timing, respectively) is still up to you, and Melodyne gives you all the options you need.

You can render your Melodyne edits to a new audio track in Cubase. Alternatively, you do nothing and keep your Melodyne plug-in inserted until your final mixdown. 🙂
I have been using melodyne 4 assistant for quite some time. But i yet havent found any information what upgrading to version 5 would give me? i know it offers new features for those who have higher tier versions, but for Assistant? any assist on that ? :D
does anyone know if i Just permanantly deleted 4 hours of work? So i had melodyne in Ableton and I accidentally pressed Command Z In the arrangment view instead of in melodyne. It deleted the melodyne Plug in because i clicked the arrangement view window in Ableton. Now i command Z to get it back and its deleted from Melodyne. 1 thing i can think is when i redo the whole project vocal ill put a plug in after melodyne in case i accidently hit command z in the wrong window. And Also remember to save my project in melodyne.
@@celemony I'm afraid not. We extensively tested Melodyne 5 in Pro Tools Ultimate and there the GUI was also lagging considerably with respect to audio playback. So definitely a problem with the Melodyne software. It makes Melodyne 5 almost unusable when you need to rely on the graphics for a speedy workflow. I hope this is something that can be addressed in a future update.
@@celemony I already did (over a year ago). Never got solved. It may be an issue specific to Pro Tools, I don't know. But it's a showstopper and I'm not really using Melodyne anymore due to it.
This is also the first thing I noticed when he played the vocal. That's a big issue. EDIT: Looking at alot more videos I see that it might be an issue with the screencapturing SW used as it seems ok in other videos.
If I want to use two Melodyne assistant plugins on lead and double vocal, could I see both of these tracks in one melodine plugin window to correct one to other without switching the plugins?

New to Melodyne, got it with the Pro Tools bundle. Anyone knows why my version doesnt have the pitch tool button and some of the other buttons next to it? Its the latest version i downloaded
Hey Magnus. What you have is Melodyne essential which comes with a basic toolset only. The dedicated pitch tool is only available in the larger Melodyne editions. This is exactly what Rich talks about in this video around the one minute mark. Hope this helps.

Basically you can create harmony parts in all Melodyne editions. Just duplicate your lead vocal track in your DAW and add Melodyne to taste. The advantage of Melodyne assistant or any larger Melodyne version is that they also have the expert tools for pitch modulation, pitch drift, etc. These come in particularly handy when working with vocals. And, of course, creating harmonies is most fun in our multi-track edition Melodyne studio. Hope this helps.
Why is there so much delay between hearing the sound and seeing the visual in Melodyne? Is it just in this vid or is this a thing is Melodyne Assistant? The latency makes this vid hard to follow.
I just got Melodyne Assistant. My sibilance tool isn't anywhere to be found. The tool bar doesn't look like yours. I miss Logic. The fact that you have to transfer the audio sucks. I'm bummed on it.
Yes, of course. Melodyne isn’t limited to editing vocals, it can handle all sorts of instruments. Even polyphonic ones like pianos, guitars, etc., if you have Melodyne editor or Melodyne studio. 🙂

celemony wrote you have to reinstall melodyne if you upgrade to the assistant version and maybe delete the essential installation

There’s no dedicated tool. You can only reduce the level of plosives with the Amplitude tool.

Nice video, but the audio is totally out of sync with the grid on playback. Is this a known problem/bug with protools?
No, it’s not. Probably a buffer issue with the screen capturing software.

All my edit tools were on the top bar on my Mac, now they have suddenly moved left above key scale etc, very odd

There’s not really a tool for that in Melodyne.

Make sure that Blob Monitoring is enabled under ‘Options’ > ‘Note Editor’ > ‘Monitor When Editing Blobs’. This should do the trick.

The orange lines that are being moved at around 3 mins of this clip don't show up on mine, hw do I get them to show up?

Hello, Melodyne works with pre-recorded audio only. There are no live tools from us.

The echo and reverb are produced by other plugins than melodyne. Your DAW should have some

No ReWire, just the local playback feature in Melodyne.

Do most engineers scrutinize the vocals so critically?
Since vocals usually are the most important element in a song, you should give them as much love as possible. 🙂 That’s what most engineers do indeed.
