NOTE: This Polish tango is quite unusual in concept. While most pre-war tangos had lyrics alluding to passionate love, in which women were tigers, parasites or other more or less demonic creatures, here we have the peaceful love of an office clerk; a shy, modest and even boring kind of "passion." The text (written by the excellent poet Emanuel Schlechter) describes the tedious, uninteresting daily life, even the low wages in the office are mentioned: 200 zlotys a month, paid 50 zlotys every week, and the work consists of rearranging stacks of papers at one end of the desk or another, and the best thing would be to drop it all and go far away. The refrain, however, brings a happy ray of sunshine into this gloom: my beloved is waiting for me at home!

The slideshow shows several of these Polish "honeys" from the 1930s waiting for their husbands in the little paradises of their homes, filled with their love and the best household items of the time.

Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous tango, both orchestrally (such a gorgeous instrumental arrangement!) and vocally (Mieczysław Fogg is offering us an absolutely outstanding, refined and involved vocal). I loved this, it is a gem :-)
I'm glad that you so admire the song which is so specifically Polish. I regret there's no mention who leads the Syrena house band. In that time it must have been Iwo Wesby or Henryk Wars. Wesby who led the orchestra at Qui Pro Quo theatre, after collepse of many revue theatres during the Great Depression took over the Syrena band from Wars in mid-late 1930s. Wars in that time was more and more busy composing the film music.
