This video is absolutely stellar! I watched it twice, then spent about 15 minutes installing my new trigger. Thank you so much for taking the time to make such an informative video. Much appreciated!
Thank you, as this video helped immensely for me while adding the Overwatch Trigger to my new PPQ Q4 Steel frame. I appreciate people like you, who take the time to help others, like me!
This is a great video first off. Here’s a tip to getting the slide stop off a bit easier. In the video you are holding it in the up position with your pinky while also holding the punch at the same time. It is necessary to do this so you don’t damage the frame but you can just put in a mag to raise the slide stop while doing this. It essentially frees you from doing the awkward hang positioning of holding the punch while trying to keep the slide stop up with ur pinky.
Great install video, will definitely revisit this when I get my overwatch trigger for my q4 sf. Funny thing is I was over on overwatch precision's site last night and watched the ppq armorer's complete disassembly video. It totally overwhelmed me to the point I didn't complete the transaction. They really need to link to this video on their site.
Excellent tutorial!!!! I am on the Walther Defense Division Team. Used this tutorial to install the Walther Dynamic Trigger in my Walther DDX (Q5 frame\Q4 Slide\Parker Mountain Comp). Keep up the great work!
Thanks. Great video! Just did mine no problem using your guidance only I installed the Walther precision trigger. Can't say it is as good as my Wilson 1911 but it is very very good.
More videos please. Particularly real world (range) comparison and impression videos of the apex vs overwatch vs Walther dynamic(?) triggers on various ppq derivatives. And more smithing vids of course. Thank you sir!
Wanted to follow up, I'm uploading my first impressions video of the Walther Dynamic trigger vs. Overwatch right now! Real world comparison video coming in the next few weeks.
I just bought the Q4 recoil is a little less than the plastic version but on the fence about replacing with apex is because I have a ppq with an apex and love it.
Damn that's nice. Walther did a VP9. I got the Sarzilmaz VP9/Glock baby... fk I actually got 4. Got a real H&K VP9. This might be my next one. Toss up btwn this and a Ruger Security 9. Guess it'll be whichever one I can actually find.
Thank you for the kind words! Since then I've upgraded the camera setup significantly and actually have ways to directly mount the camera top-down on the bench, which you can see in some of my more recent ones.
It's similar, but not exactly the same due to the different locking mechanism. I will eventually do a complete set for the regular PPQ and PDP as well !
I got it from Earls repair service but I gotta say I ended up not being a big fan of the release. I’ll probably do a short video on what I’ve experienced and how I’ve rectified it
Harrison, good video but I have a question about the new trigger. I dont know if I am using the proper terms, so forgive me. Is the new trigger set at the same distance as the old trigger? In other words does it sit closer to the grip or same distance? I am sometimes position my hand slightly to the left of the back grip, which then my finger has to strain to take up the slack of the trigger. So I am hoping the new trigger sits closer to the grip.
Thank you! I was using a GoPro on a hat mount, actually, that I normally used for matches. On my latest videos I've been mixing in my iPhone 12 Pro Max with one of those smartphone tripod mount clamps that fits most phones. Now experimenting with a small ball head for some more adjustability, and some more home-brew mounting solutions for getting good top-down video that I hope to be able to share soon.
Thanks! I just ordered a Q5 SF and can see myself installing an Overwatch trigger so this is very helpful. Have you replaced the OEM safety plunger spring with a lighter Sprinco spring?
For a carry gun I don't like the fact that there's no pre-travel because then it doesn't allow me to prep the trigger as I'm pressing out without the pre-travel it would be very dangerous to press out while prepping the trigger and doing an accidental discharge
I got a question. I recently purchased this pistol and was wondering if it’s recommended to put a very thin coating of gun oil on all the metal surfaces inside the frame itself, the manual recommends lubing a few certain points specifically but I didn’t know if I should be putting a light coat on the other surfaces to prevent rust. Such as the part on the frame that is below the barrel. Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Hi Greg! I recommend only lubricating the points mentioned in the manual, as over lubrication will attract dirt, grime, carbon buildup and could impact reliability. The parts are all coated in some way shape or form to prevent rust. If you get them very wet I recommend disassembly and cleaning with an appropriate cleaner/protectant which you would then wipe off before reinstalling. I usually use Ballistol for that.
I think I let my gunsmith install it but I have a question I have a Walther PDP and I absolutely love this gun and the trigger I find stock perfectly happy with it I do have another Walter PPQ that has an Apex trigger and I like that very much but to be quite honest I really can't tell the difference is it really worth the $200
I was having trouble with the slide stop lever and wanted to provide a couple tips I learned. First insert an empty magazine. The lever will be held in place at the correct angle without tricky finger work. Second, I couple of strong whacks may be required instead of many weaker whacks. Great video! And I love the trigger.
I guess I disagree with this, but a lot is personal preference. There are certainly great pistols out there for less money, but they all have their own feature set. I personally have run the polymer PPQ and loved it. I've shot my friends' Glocks and Caniks and Sigs. I personally prefer a full size steel framed gun for my competition use. So to me those less expensive options are not "Just as good".

Thanks, bro. This was super helpful! I had to pause a few times but I still got it done in about 30 mins. Great instructions!
Thanks for such an awesome, straightforward vid on how to easily replace the Q4 trigger. Very well done without a load of self promotion. 🤙

Outstanding!!! Perfect pace, good detail, good camera work. Really nice job!

This is awesome. Just saw this comment. You’re one of my favorite follows! Glad I could help.
Thanks, just used this to install my overwatch trigger in my q5 sf. Worked perfectly
Mad respect for just saying you are dude on the internet. Immediate fan.

You did a very good job in this video.

Really well done video. Looking forward to the complete disassembly video. Not sure that there is a video breaking down the rest of the gun.
It's coming! I had a few false starts but I'm re-filming and editing soon.

You just cost me a lot of money (and I thank you for it)!
hahahaha I promise you won't regret it!
Thanks a really good video I want to see more of your videos, you should use a tripod to get better close up film and not film all the table. 👍👍👍
Thank you for the kind words! Since then I've upgraded the camera setup significantly and actually have ways to directly mount the camera top-down on the bench, which you can see in some of my more recent ones.
Thanks for the great videos can this install be used for the ppq q5 match as well
It's similar, but not exactly the same due to the different locking mechanism. I will eventually do a complete set for the regular PPQ and PDP as well !
Thanks for the video Harrison! I love my Q5 SF. Apparently I have the same question as everyone else, where do I get that mag release?
I got it from Earls repair service but I gotta say I ended up not being a big fan of the release. I’ll probably do a short video on what I’ve experienced and how I’ve rectified it
Great video! What grip did you put on your Q5 SF? And did you manage to create the "detail strip video" of the Q5 SF?
Coming very soon!
Thank you for this video !!!
Question ? what are you using for a mag release button on your Q% Steel Frame?
What springco spring are you using? I looked on their web and didn’t see for the Q5 but they have many offerings of different numbered springs.
At minute 3:15 the method did not work and I could not open it. Please help.
yes Sir, Thank you.

yes it does
Can back up Tim - definitely closer!
Thanks so much.
Thanks for this. Helps a great deal.
Btw, what camera setup are you using with your phone?

Sorry for the delay gotta get notifications figured out. Yes, I have replaced the safety plunger spring and striker spring with the Sprinco offerings.
For a carry gun I don't like the fact that there's no pre-travel because then it doesn't allow me to prep the trigger as I'm pressing out without the pre-travel it would be very dangerous to press out while prepping the trigger and doing an accidental discharge
I think you are correct but for range gun competition it is a great improvement
Greetings. What size is the fiber optic rod in the front sight? I'd like to replace my with green as well.
How many times can you re-use the same roll pins before you should replace? Replace w/ Walther p/n# or good generic?
I’m certainly no expert but they’ve all come out of each gun upwards of a dozen times and the fit is still as tight as day 1.

I have the Q5 Match SF and just put in the Walther Precision Dynamic Trigger. Well worth the money IMHO.
@@davidearl-graef4287just bought the q4 steel frame. Recoil is slightly lower but not much differenxs
Where can we buy the blue extended teardrop magazine release like you have?
josephguerra1992 I got mine from Earl’s repair service. They may be available elsewhere soon.

Where did you get the mag release?
Earls repair service. Good people.
I do not recommend this release for most people though. See my other video.
great pistol, no doubt about it at all. however, you can get just as good a pistol for less than half the price from a number of producers =/

@@hdshooting1729 that ppq striker runs like a dream; the tension on that trigger is pretty sweet
