@@chapeljohn9462 Honestly though if you look at it, look at the directions, and look at the pictures it's not hard to go OH this part is wrong. It's what I did, was like this makes NO sense that his jet engine part is so floppy than i realized the legs weren't far enough up which led to me discovering this midsection not being squished.
Hi, Baltmatrix. I have been a fan of yours for a long time and I just want to point out a few things with Springer, especially in helicopter mode. First off, keep the chest/canopy section where it is. Second, when turning the legs, actually turn them at the top of his waist. Third, when folding in his arms, there is actually a little notch inside the hinges where his shoulders meet and there are two tabs underneath the pieces that fill in his chest in robot mode. Finally, plug in his arms into the sides of his legs and peg the top section of his canopy into the slots in his legs, resulting in a more solid helicopter mode. I just wanted to point that out because the directions got it all mixed up. Thanks for taking the time to read it.
I have had zero problems plugging in the canopy for helicopter mode. I just... plug it in. Maybe scrutinize your figure for some plastic flash? Also, the car mode is BEAUTIFUL THANKYOUVERYMUCH.
Honestly Balt, your review really made me nervous about this figure yesterday because that’s when he was scheduled to show up. Well, I got him, opened him up, and thank god you’re wrong. First off Balt, send your copy back. Seriously, the amount of QC issues you ran into with yours has significantly impacted the quality of this review. Get your money back....then...order the version from Amazon. It seems every reviewer who got theirs from other sources like Target or Walmart got Springers with swords made with softer plastic. Not me! My swords are hard plastic just like the guns. Anyone else get their Amazon Springers and notice the same thing? Next up, you got the helicopter wrong. A member here posted how to do it correctly. Once you have it right that mode is solid! Same thing with the car mode...get it right, it’s solid. No loose parts. Bot mode, those arms do lock in. I ran into the same issue you did Balt and found I didn’t line up the arms right. Ankles, this is for everyone. The ankles can lock. Pay attention to the inner side leg/ calf panel. Also ankle tilt affects the ankles. Use floor polish or what ever it is you use to tighten ports and connectors on these inner panels. My copy has this handled right out of the box. Sword storage. If your swords fall off the sides, flip them to use the other side of the hole/slot. One side is tighter than the other. Works great in the super gun combined mode. Alright, thats it guys and gals (I hope there are more gals buying transformers). Dont be afraid to get this figure. The Amazon version is pretty damn solid. Might have better swords...again, mine are hard plastic. This guy really replaces my classices version for over all best figure.
Honestly, this is the only Siege figure I didn't look forward to because I have the voyager generation version and that is a beau...when I saw this from leak images...I was disappointed and this review confirms it. Thank Balt for the recommendation.
Don't listen to him. He's the only one having issues. If you transform it RIGHT you're going to have a solid figure that's a really good representation of G1 springer. Honestly...I feel that generations springer was more of a mess than siege.
Very impressive. I think it's important to cover all aspects of a figure. Both pro and con helps people get an idea what to expect and decide if it's a figure they want. Thanks for covering the flaws he might have.
I just got mine today from Amazon, and I'm not having any of the issues he's having in this video. Everything snaps in to place securely. The feet are fine. I don't know what's wrong with his or how he's mistransforming it, but Springer is just fine.
It's a real shame this one didn't work out. Springer was one of my favorite characters and designs as a kid, and this replication seemed good at first. Still, at least I still gave my older Generations one to fill out my Wreckers shelf.
Generations Springer is leagues better than this one, having handled both. The plastic is brittle and the transformation is way too finicky for a voyager scale figure.
He Balt, if you're having issues with the helicopter mode, check out Emgo316's channel, he has the JUST TRANSFORM IT video on how to transform it properly, just FYI.
Dude... telling a transformer youtuber to go check out another transformer youtuber because he's fucking up the transformation is probably one of the BEST unintentional burns I have ever seen lol.
So I just picked him up today from Ross for like 13 bucks. So you had the helicopter mode wrong. You keep the center tucked in and everything will tab correctly. To me the vehicle mode looks the best but I keep him in the helicopter mode due to being able to keep all the guns and blades together better.
I dont get it. I've watch emgo and Peaugh and others review this figure and you begin your review with "this figure has problems " when the others dont say anything about this figure?
I picked Springer up today and I got lucky, because mine has none of the QC issues yours does. Without QC issues, he is a great figure IMHO. I will offer some constructive criticisms of your review since I feel some of your complaints that aren't about QC issues on your copy are unfair as they are a result more of user error than design error. At 6:05, the green flap fell off because you tried to fold it out all the way before lifting up the "tummy" all the way, because the back part of the flap was blocked by the green strut the head rests on. If you had lifted the "tummy" first, as is shown in the instructions, the flap would have had clearance and should have stayed on. At 8:10, it looks like you pulled it straight out from the top with your finger, which caused it to pop out again. If you had applied inward pressure on the bottom part of the flap instead, which was protruding a bit from the bottom of the vehicle, it should have folded down without detaching. Your way of folding up the arms against the front of the helicopter mode at 15:21 is the correct way as far as I can tell. At 16:00, the connection of the back panel to the helicopter tail is loose because it's too far forward, since you pulled the front of the vehicle modes forward at 12:30. The front is supposed to be in the same position for car and helicopter mode, toward the back, this allows the tabs on the bottom of the back panel to connect into slots on the bottom of the feet, creating a secure connection and forming a much cleaner and more solid helicopter mode. If anything I said doesn't make any sense, let me know and I will try to describe it better.
i found a way to fit all the weapons together flip the second gun around backwards and plug it back in, can still put the swords on the side and the spiny bit on the back, as it has more clearance
While I do not have an issue with the chest or the feet down there the double knee joint on the right foot does not lock at all at the figure is prone to fall on most occasions. It even seems to me that the right foot is slightly longer than the left one and because of that it fails to lock.
Had similar issues with mine, just an absolute pain in the ass to transform, so he stays in helicopter mode as a display piece, because after finally getting him to "fit" well in that mode I just don't want to deal with the hassle of trying to transform him again. Kind of a bummer since he's one of my favorite characters, but it seems he's more complicated to transform than most of my KO series G1s.
If you pull the chest out more those green pieces on the chest won’t hit the base of the neck and fall off. I had the same issue until I realized it was colluding with part of the neck causing it to pop out.
Your so underestimated! All of the time reading the directions and even making corrections to the directions must take you a lot of time. Also the dedication with transforming toys must take have taken a ton of money. Im 10 and I have been watching you since I was 5, and you have helped me so much in recommending toys, heck even vocabulary and definitions! I just wants to say thank you.
This video is a god send. I didnt get Springer when he first came out and just now grabbed the wreckers version and could NOT get either his vehicle modes to work thanks to that middle joint connecting the front and back halves. Was starting to think I had some kind of assembly error or something. Started watching all kinds of reviews to see if anyone else had this problem and THIS video. OHHHHHH this video. First one to mention that the joint clicks/snaps into place. Solved my issues and now I can fully and properly enjoy this figure 😊
Hmm....not liking the feet being an issue. Really looking forward to him, saw him on a local Target shelf, but now I'm getting gun shy about getting him
Yeah he was pretty frustrating at first took me a few hours really to get him figured out and transformed correctly. Now he is quite a joy actually to mess around with and I can go back and forth between all modes within a few minutes. But at first I was ready to throw him across the room.
i still prefer the generations version, it is superior in all mods and all ways, obviously thank you for the review dude :D i was thinking in pick up this one but i will start with Brunt
Got this figure at my local Target. My figure has those knee and ankle issues, though not as bad. The torso can be a pain to transform from either vehicle mode to robot mode, but once in place only the backpack is a bit floppy. Good thing I'll leave it in robot mode. Still glad I got the figure.
I personally really dig this springer figure, all of his modes in my opinion look really cool and unique and the transformation to the vehicle modes is tricky at first but after watching some folks like emgo316 and prime vs prime transform it I got the hang of it in no time
Thanks for the video. You may realise by now, but your Copter mode, following the instructions, isn't correct. The front of the vehicle pushes back a lot more, allowing the arms to tab into the side of the "legs" and make the whole thing a lot more secure. It took me much frustration to realise it, as mine was initially the same. Also, the feet suck...if you do a "pledge" fix or something, could you film it maybe? As I'm not entirely sure how to fix that myself. Thank you! :)
The more I see this figure the more I want it, and I’ve seen it so many times that I started out hating it but then wanted it but now I’m somewhere in the middle
Mine has pretty much zero problems. I tightened the backpack hinges with some nail polish, but that's just because I'm picky. Transforming him's been easy and fun.
Hello Baltmatrix just received the notification for video, my springer had bad ankles too I'm pretty sure you know the pledge trick and bobs your uncle apply it to the tilt up and ankle pivot
He's fine but I prefer the older generations mold. My friends springer doesn't seem to have the loose and pegging issues but I do love how hastak is now taking ideas from third parties for their transformations; the actual tail really helps the copter mode.
Thanks for the info on Springer. I still have the 30th anniversary Springer witch I really like. I'm still on the fence on buying Siege Springer. These figures are getting pricey 😱
Thank you so much for your reviews! I personally prefer the Thrilling 30 Springer, and was a bit upset that everybody went all gaga over this guy. They did it right before, why mess with success?
THANK you balt, for being honest about these reviews, I WANT this springer, but now i might hold off for a bit, or AT LEAST buy locally so that if i get a glitched copy i can return to get a GOOD one..i DO think you might have gotten a bad copy though bro...GREAT concise REVIEW! just wish you had some better news on it...the other reviews i seen of it didnt mention this!!, so it might just be the one you got..
I personally was looking forward to this figure because I loved the classic look in the promo images. but I might see some more reviews before I decide to go with that one ore the generations version
I would watch Emgo316 video on this figure. His transformation to helicopter had all tabs in place nicely. It may be something on your figure, but is worth seeing what he did to transform it and have no issues compared to how you did it.
I am sorry that you have quality control issues with yours. I just got one for Christmas, and while it has been a puzzle to transform, I have not had an ankle problems or otherwise. Well, one sword is not level. It has a slight bend. Oh well. A hair dryer softens the plastic and then a book helps to solve it.
come to think of it is G1 Springer's alt-mode mean to be Cybertronian or some 1980's retro depiction of how cars and helicopters look in the so called "far future" of the year 2005?
I've been looking forward to this figure, and it halfway let me down. The Bad: I had the same issue with helicopter mode as Baltmatrix did. The top canopy part just does not want to peg into the feet. Like, Balt I tried both methods of attaching the arms in helo mode, and it just doesn't peg. It is a pain in the butt. Springer's directions are terrible this go round as well. The Good: Car mode is sweet, and I completely dig Springer's robot mode. Hopefully a third pary add on will help with the sword storage.
I just got mine and I can see where Balt is coming from. I love mine but was expecting more from it. The ankles and the wheel clearance are issues on mine. The ankles are not loose but I can see them being a problem with some copies. Comparing the transformations with Emgo, Balt and others, I can where he went wrong. Thankfully I don't follow Hasbro instructions.....I go straight to UA-cam. It's the closest Hasbro has given us of Springer, but I was expecting it to far surpass the generations one(IDW incarnation) , which I feel is better executed.
On my Springer figure I have problems with it too. On my figure the ankles are snug but the legs come apart easily and it's head is loose and the chest comes unpegged along with the backpack. and it's only on my figure. You're not the only one who has problems with these types of figures
I'm kinda glad I didn't get Springer when I had the chance to, mostly thanks to your review Balt, and was WAY more satisfied when I inastead chose siege Screamer. He's a way better Voyager than Springer.
You’re supposed to move the jet pack back to the rear like his auto mode for helicopter mode to work! After you do that Springer is DEAD solid! In all modes he’s awesome and I don’t have the flaw of his swords bent like yours are or the arm coming loose in robot mode. I do have to say that the ankles in robot mode have something to be desired and it would be nice to have a more solid hold on the feet. Nothing floor polish can’t cure but I do think you bashed a great figure. Only other issue I may have is the backpack not connecting as well, but then again... floor polish to the rescue and it’ll be a lot more workable! I had a couple of issues but once I got to car mode, everything else just made sense. 🤗
I so appreciate that you actually transform from bot to vehicle first, instead of the other way around. Makes a ton more sense.

Thank you so much for your reviews! I personally prefer the Thrilling 30 Springer, and was a bit upset that everybody went all gaga over this guy. They did it right before, why mess with success?
Mitchell Marquez because that guy wasn’t g1 and we haven’t gotten a good g1 issue springer yet
For those that care, I know I'm really late, but still. Transformation starts at 5:15
Hey balt another triplechanger can be ape face or sandstorm
THANK you balt, for being honest about these reviews, I WANT this springer, but now i might hold off for a bit, or AT LEAST buy locally so that if i get a glitched copy i can return to get a GOOD one..i DO think you might have gotten a bad copy though bro...GREAT concise REVIEW! just wish you had some better news on it...the other reviews i seen of it didnt mention this!!, so it might just be the one you got..
Aw what a bummer, I hope mine doesnt suffer the same issues when it arrives this/next week.
all is perfect but the top of the heli mode is not peging in
I personally was looking forward to this figure because I loved the classic look in the promo images. but I might see some more reviews before I decide to go with that one ore the generations version
This figure is a pain in the ass to get into helicopter mode.
come to think of it is G1 Springer's alt-mode mean to be Cybertronian or some 1980's retro depiction of how cars and helicopters look in the so called "far future" of the year 2005?
i just got my springer 3 days ago on amazon but it was missing the turret
AND ITS FRUSTATING! DO YOU KNOW THAT FEELING WHEN YOU BOUGHT ONLINE A TRANSFORMERS FIGURE AND IT GOT THE IMPORTANT PART MISSING?
AND I CANT BUY ANOTHER ONE IT COST A LOT OF EUROS!T_T
I've been looking forward to this figure, and it halfway let me down.
The Bad: I had the same issue with helicopter mode as Baltmatrix did. The top canopy part just does not want to peg into the feet. Like, Balt I tried both methods of attaching the arms in helo mode, and it just doesn't peg. It is a pain in the butt. Springer's directions are terrible this go round as well.
The Good: Car mode is sweet, and I completely dig Springer's robot mode. Hopefully a third pary add on will help with the sword storage.
The Quality Control Gremlin strikes again!
What about the siege ports. How many siege weapons can he hold
Always look forward to his videos
If you use lionizers effect parts(if you have two), plug them into the swords in helicopter mode looks really cool.
Clear and accurate. Tnx bro and keep on!
thankyou for the informative video
Also in "only human" episode
I like how the helicopter mode is transformed wrong
The directions are actually terrible but I managed to figure it out easily enough on my own
Thanks for the review, I was on the fence about him as I have the generations one and love it. Now I can pass on this guy and not worry.
this seems to be an issue with yours mine is alot tighter
Hopefully Astro train doesn't have problems
The blades on mine are really bent
Strangely enough he looks better than the 3rd party offerings, at least to me
