- On the way out of the Cobb Valley, I stop to day trip into Asbestos Cottage, a historic structure with an incredible backstory. It was an easy 2 hour walk one way, passing the old asbestos mine and artefacts on the way.
The Chaffeys must have loved those mountain views.
Interesting place. Nice views but a rugged, rocky place. Would have been a tough life. Cheers
Love places like this Jesse, relics from the past, events faded from memory but clues left behind. Incredible story to be honest, not many places like that to see there, nice one, loved it
Cheers Chris. Very cool place. Interesting - surely a lot of historic buildings where you are?
No shortage of goats!
I wonder if there is any danger from bits of asbestos still in the ground. Probably not but worth investigating. What an amazing place to stay in - the whole area is a real museum.
I saw heaps of goats in the Kahurangi and Richmonds. Yeah I wondered that. Interesting to see how huge the industry was for something obsolete now. Different times. Cheers for watching
Interesting. You didn't continue on Flora Track to the various rock shelters? Liked the topo map insert. It would be interesting to add the track names to the description if you can. I'm sure it's already a lot of effort to put these videos together. Thanks.
My next trip involved the rock shelters and Mt Arthur - that'll be the next video! Glad you like the topo maps. Bit of an experiment that I hope gives better context. Will try remember that for future video descriptions. Cheers again
@@ReviloNZwalks oh that's good.... in the last video I thought you said there was only one more in this holiday series.
@pauldavies4870 sorry for the confusion, I meant the next video coming was my last Kahurangi tramp. Got one in at Nelson Lakes after that!
They were hard people, back in the day. Not an easy life.
For sure
