Well, if you had actually looked at Miller's race, you would have seen that, unlike this man, she was leading the entire time, and unlike this man, she didn't look back to see how ahead she was and dived. Y'all actually think you know more than the Olympic council. She was dying from exhaustion, took a while to recover after the race, unlike this man, and you're saying its bull? I guess the Olympic council should out rule jumping or leaping over the finish line (just keep it for long jump or high jump guys). Seriously, Americans come out of the woodwork every four years to criticize sports they watch once every four years and don't know jack shit about. Maybe if you've seen races outside of the Olympics or know people who do track, then you know dives hurt more than they help, and actually slow you down, or make you fall short of the finish line. She was collapsing and made a last ditch attempt by trying to lean and it resulted in a dive. But people would actually have her fall before the finish line, rather than make an effort. Watch her legs, I mean, c'mon. Her torso crossed the finish line. Those are the rules, the judges clearly ruled it admissible, and she in no way obstructed her opponents from finishing. It isn't illegal, or a loophole, as long as the athlete's torso crosses the line.End of story.
Even if she dived, its legal! Read the rules for Rio 2016, its who crosses the line first...whole point of the event and Shaunae did. Everyone who's upset blame your athlete for not diving herself.
Diving is for swimming. You run to the line. This is running so if I run faster then I win. Period. I'm not diving across the line. Imagine if Shaunae and Felix both dived at the line. That would be the stupidest end of a race ever. Deliberately diving to the line should be a disqualification. If you can't beat someone on foot then you lose. Plain and simple.
Felix has accomplished waaaaaaaaaay more than Shaunae can ever wish to accomplish. She won by cheating and that will be her claim to fame. Lol. Allyson has more Olympic golds than any other female track and field athlete ever. Sorry others you will always be a distant second lol
@@JPiddle don't be a sour puss. Neville won the bronze by diving in this race. So it's all good. I'm not invested in either country. Felix is an all time great with a wonderful attitude however Miller can achieve great things in the 200m & 400m in the future. Maybe one day she will be seen as an all time great too. It's quite possible.
Hola!! yo tengo 16 y tengo la marca de 46.85, hay q seguirle trabajando, tienes q seguir la tendencia de q tu seas tu propio enemigo y batir tu propio record.
it's because coming into the race all the hype was on wariner, who subsequently got all butt hurt in the post-race interview when asked about switching coaches in an olympic year. merritt did his thing and brushed the wariner dirt off his shoulders.
okay IDC care about this because we had already had an American in 1st. Don't nobody care about his little dive for Bronze. Miller, on the other hand, set herself up to be unlikeable by talking about Felix. And Felix would've won without the dive yet she STILL took credit for being the best runner in that race, like girl no.
Man in 2004 and 2008 USA men were sweeping 400m and in 2004 the 200m while getting gold and silver in the 100m. They haven't won gold in any individual sprint race since.
what are you talking about. 400m is short distance, and there's a lot more lactic acid in the 400m. Its part of why it hurts so much more than the 100 or 200.
It's because the Bahamian would've been the one to medal (Bronze) if he didn't trip/fall/dive or whatever he did. Now it happened and the Bahamian has gold instead of the American and it's a big uproar. Hence "payback"
It's not breaking the rules but it's looked down at because your supposed to win by running not by jumping.imagine Michael Johnson jumping through the air in an attempt to break the world record years ago and managing to jump 3 meters and getting under 43 seconds ,yes he'd still have the record today but people would just laugh every time they look at it and alot would say he cheated because he didn't run through the line.
Merritt should have ran faster here also, appearantly he had an 0.318 reaction time out of the blocks and the weather could have been bether. So i say 43.50-43.60 with better reaction to the gun and better weather. Maybe even slightly faster. By the way does anybody knows his 100 meter splits??
aint that some good karma. miller u right to do that to felix. imagine these americans talking about cheating out felix. I tell ya. the rules only applies when it benefits them. smh
and generalizing only applies when it come to america, alot of us believe that dive we did in 2008 was wrong, so don't make false contradictions without inquiry, and usa would've came in 1st and 2nd regardless
I don't get why people generalize. It's so stupid to put everyone in the same boat. I'm an American and I don't care who does it, American or not, diving is a cheap way to win. I know lots of people who feel this way. Track is about running, so you should win by running, not diving. If you wanna dive, hit the pool. That guy did not obtain his bronze medal in a respectable way and neither did Shaunae. Moves like that shouldn't be allowed. I don't know... I have a very hard time respecting anyone who tries to win like that. Once again, it seems cheap.
Exactly so don't put all americans in the same boat, people tend to enjoy doing that because for some reason they tend to have hate or bias against america, stop being childish and grow tf up
I am pretty sure they weren't any American crying foul when the American athlete dived for third. I am pretty sure the American athlete did not apologize to the Bahamian athlete. spare me the moral compass because it certainly didn't apply here. well done miller. there is just a whole lot of jealousy now because American have been overtaken by Caribbean athletes in the sprints. good to see the clean athletes getting their rightful praise. for years we lived under the con of the likes of carl lewis, marion jones, gatlins. smh
@m60maximo no se que edad tienene pero esta muy debajo de la marca yo no soy profesional tengo 14 años y tengo una marca de 47.55 pero algun dia te vere en las olimpiadas
Payback? Felix is not even in this race, how is this payback to Allyson Felix and for what did she do to deserve payback. Its not a relay so you can't even stretch "payback" for America vs Bahamas tit for tat. Swimming(diving) has not place in TRACK and field no matter who does it. Yeah he was a drug cheat
David Neville made the Olympics for me- that's what's called passion!
Wariner came back and ran 43.23 in his lap in the 4x4
Yeah it was amazing, But head to head Merritt smoked him🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
The guy who dived, also nearly snatched 2nd place lol. What an epic dive.
I went to school with him. His name is David Neville from Indiana University. He is a great athlete!
Well, well, well, so people are complaining that Shaunae dove across the finish line to win gold over Felix, I'm glad I remembered this race.
You really just looked at this video and would suggest that what this man did as a dive?? SMH
Thank you these dumb ass people trying to justify their bull

But now we all know the secret technique to give a little boost at the end xD
After Warner saw he wasn't going to win he just shut it down. That could have cost him the silver.
