Star Wars is a unique franchise. Your views on it, are likely down to when you started watching it. I was the perfect target audience in 1977; a 4 year old boy. I lived through the era where it was simply 3 movies, through the creation of the Expanded Universe, leading to the Special Editions (the 1st official quality VHS), the Prequels, the Clone Wars, Rebels, and the Final Order. I lived through the hype from each of the prequels, and the subsequent let down. By the time the Sequel Trilogy arrived, I had a more open mind. If you just watch the Sequel trilogy at face value, there's plenty there to love. This is where I think a lot of Reaction channels are, with pretty much every movie they watch. It's their chosen side-hustle to watch movies, so they want to maximise their time by watching different movies. If you look a bit deeper, or you're invested in the universe, you have a lot of pre-conceived ideas on where the existing characters should have gone, in terms of character and story arcs. I don't like them, but I don't dislike them either. For me, it was always destined to fail, the way it was conceived. It was marketed as a SEQUEL. This is why you have Episode VII, VIII and IX. A sequel is meant to exist in the SAME universe as the thing it's a sequel to. It's the same history, lore, and magic. The magic part of Star Wars is both how the Force works, and how things like Lightspeed, Hyperspace, laser blasts etc work. The sequels changed how the Force worked, rather significantly. They changed how hyperspace works. Sequels should focus their main cast around the heroes from the original, if possible. There's already a blueprint in the Expanded Universe. The sequels focussed around a cast of new, young characters, and relegated the originals to bit-parts. Han and Leia were a long established double act in the Expanded Universe. Along with Chewie, C3P0, R2D2, Lando, Luke and some others frequently bounce from mission to mission. She's a Jedi Knight, Luke is a Grand Master. Contrast that to where these characters are in the Sequels. Start with that base, and the Sequels have a completely different tone. There should be a varied "passing of the torch" over the course of the trilogy, to set the younger ones up as the main cast in future movies. It was made as a reboot, and marketed as a sequel. There's a HUGE built in audience for a SEQUEL, but not so much for a REBOOT. They tried to straddle both realms, and delivered a watchable product.
Pretty fair take I'd say. At least you justify your viewpoint. I like the sequels but don't love them. They are about equal to the prequels to me. But with their own slew of problems. The OT reigns Supreme
I really enjoy your reactions. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. It went rather dark taste and tie Star Wars. That’s the new train better and I hope goodness inside but it wasn’t your fault. Director wrote the movie and he hated Star Wars so we wrote this like this, but I’m glad you enjoy it, you might like the last episode most people don’t I hope you do. I really appreciate your work. I’m glad you have fun. Let me know. I can’t wait to see it with you. Maybe I’ll get like Movie too if you do thanks for the fun until next time. Was there any funeral for even five minutes flashbacks chewy and Leah could take five minutes and Mark Hammel Luke Skywalker himself didn’t like the movie he warned the director about going this way but he didn’t care the old Luke is dead. Mark said George Lucas would never do this Carrie Fisher died on the way home after Movies is finished so she’s not in the last one the only way she’s in it deleted scenes from this movie and added to the last movie which is very sad that’s all for now .
Your reaction was much better than the Last Jedi. There were plenty of things I liked about the movie, but the biggest issue, which ruins the movie, was how they handled Luke. Luke in no way would have behaved the way he did in that movie. He had no issue about killing his nephew, but could not kill his dad, the evil Darth Vader, someone who basically was a stranger. Plus the scene where he throws the lightsaber over his shoulder, just for a laugh, cheapens the emotional ending of thd Force Awakening. Furthermore, the scene with Yoda just further dimishes the legend of Luke Skywalker, making him look like a fool.
@@xDarthSTYXx what are you sorry about? The arc that he became a recluse after his failure, kind of like Yoda? Was part of it murdering his nephew in his sleep, or going for cheap gags?
@@xDarthSTYXx my biggest gripe does not come out of Lucas, I didnt misunderstand anything. Lucas did not have in his treatments that Luke would consider murdering his nephew, and the various cheap gags. No problem as a recluse, like Yoda was. What were all these aspects that i misunderstood?
@@SupersonicMan10000 No, but he did have him becoming a hermit like Ben Kenobi. Lucas was all about "like poetry, it ryhmes"...because history does painfully repeat itself. We all fall from grace sometimes, even heroes. That's why Yoda in this film, really hits. But I totally get where you are coming from. My hope is that they can do an animated series with Luke, maybe based on his jedi temple, that will not only showcase his amazingness, but also enhance his motivations for doing that to Ben. Much like the clone wars series enhanced the prequels.
In my opinion, good films don't underwhelm expectations. Good films exceed expectations instead of merely subverting expectations, in my opinion. The Last Jedi is what caused me to lose interest in Disney Star Wars. As far as I'm concerned, Rogue One is the only canon Disney Star Wars film. I'm happy that you enjoyed The Last Jedi though, Iced Quokka.
I have reached the point that I only view the Lucas stuff as Canon (the 6 original films, and the Clone Wars series-I include the last CW season since all of these stories had Lucas involved in the early stages of story development before Disney took over and shut it all down). The main saga is the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. The last 3 movies have nothing to do with that storyline. The films should not have been numbered, and should have been a separate trilogy…not 7-9. Everything other ther films 1-6/CW is not canon (Disney and EU). I loved Rogue One, Andor, and Heir to the Empire. I hated a bunch of EU stuff as much as I hate the sequel trilogy. Doesn’t matter…none of it is cannon. George left us with an amazing Universe and it has always been open for anyone to come in and play. If they tell a wonderful story, then that’s awesome. But, you’re gonna get a lot of garbage in the process. The biggest problem with this trilogy is JJ treating TFA as the pilot of a TV show. He set up the scenario, the characters, and a lot of interesting rabbit holes…and mapped out nothing after TFA credits rolled. A trilogy like this needs the entire trilogy mapped out before the first film starts shooting. And, they should have made the trilogy based on Heir to the Empire (would have had to be massively re-written…but Zahn would have been able to modify it to work as a movie trilogy…
@@raymondmarier8340 In my opinion, only the original trilogy films, the prequel trilogy films, the Clone Wars series and Rogue One are canon. I have included Rogue One because it's the only Disney Star Wars film that isn't offensively bad like the other Disney Star Wars films, in my opinion. But that's it. Like you said, the main saga is the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker and the Disney sequel trilogy undermines that. As far as I'm concerned, Return Of The Jedi is the final film of the Skywalker Saga and, after Return Of The Jedi, the galaxy enjoys a golden age of a thousand years of relative peace and prosperity. George's complete vision for the sequel trilogy involved an enemy that was now less imposing and using subterfuge, a story that explored more ancient mysteries and old Jedi lore rather than another Empire versus Rebels story. Disney just copied the original trilogy but with worse writing and worse acting. It's kinda crazy how much more soul Lucas's version of the sequel trilogy has. It genuinely saddens me that we'll never see George's kino original vision for the sequel trilogy. The Star Wars galaxy is vast, containing countless worlds and countless beings. Even so, Star Wars in my eyes is ultimately the story of one man, one human, from that vast galaxy - Anakin Skywalker. Star Wars is the story of the life of Anakin Skywalker - his rise, his fall and his redemption. Star Wars is one film divided into six parts and, in my opinion, it is the greatest film of all time. Star Wars is one story divided into six episodes and, in my opinion, it is the most ambitious story ever put to film. Love doomed Anakin in the prequel trilogy and love saved Anakin in the original trilogy. The central message of Star Wars (if there is indeed any message) is that love conquers all - even the stars themselves. Star Wars teaches us that nobody is beyond redemption, not even Anakin Skywalker. We're all gonna make it, bro. And that's pure kino.
@@Rishi123456789if you haven’t watched Andor, I would recommend checking it out. It’s a slow burn and dialogue driven with really good payoffs at the end of each ark. It bridges 3-4 like CW did for 2-3. It shows life under tyranny and how the rebellion begins. The empire is truly terrifying.

@@Rishi123456789 the first season is 12 episodes, broken down into story arcs. Ep 1-3 is the first arc (and the weakest since they are laying a lot of groundwork and introducing characters) and highly recommend watching a full arc before jumping toe the common complaint of “slow and boring”. Each arc gets better. There is great star power and the payoff at the end of each arc is satisfying. The dialogue is jaw dropping (excellent writing, directing, and acting). Not a lightsaber or Jedi to be found. Nothing else on SW TV comes remotely close to it. Kennedy, Favreau, and Filoni were not involved. Practical effects and on location shooting throughout. I'm glad some people might not mind this, but I can't stand this movie anymore, and the sequels as a whole. It destroys Luke's character, is boring, etc. I wish more realized that. They also took out Luke's mourning scene when he found out about Han. I can't believe they did that. I also hate Holdo. Luke also force-projected himself as the last version of himself Leia, Ben, and everyone else remembers him as. That's why he looks younger. There's also a theory that BB-8 says "I have a bad feeling about this" which caused Poe to say "happy beeps here, buddy, come on", and that the music at 4:12 is a re-done version of RotS's Battle of the Heroes theme. The Emperor's theme also plays when Snoke is mind controlling Rey.
I’m not a grifter or hater. But this movie is awful. Visually it is amazing. Story: bad. Characters: bad. I have accepted whetvthey did to Luke. But for the new characters they did Finn dirty.
That's a long way to say you're jaded and not open to new ideas.
The sequels didn't change hyperspace or the Force. 😅

When kylo Ren Ben killed snoke that was pretty epic huh
A lot of fans hate this movie, but it's one of my favorites.
@@havok6280 explains a lot
Luke's arc came straight from George Lucas. Sorry.
@@xDarthSTYXx what are you sorry about? The arc that he became a recluse after his failure, kind of like Yoda? Was part of it murdering his nephew in his sleep, or going for cheap gags?
@@SupersonicMan10000 No. I'm sorry that your biggest gripe comes straight from George Lucas and that you misunderstood pretty much every aspect of it.
@@raymondmarier8340 I haven't watched any of the Disney shows and, to be honest, I don't ever really want to. But your description sounds interesting and I enjoyed Rogue One, so I just might give Andor a chance.
They pretty much build the whole city on a sound stage that you see in the first arc. It feels lived in and real. I just can’t say enough good things about it. I even bought it on Blu-ray (last time I bought a blu ray was Rogue One…)
this and attack of clone tied my worst episode
quokka , if you look at Snoke's forehead, he has a huge gash in it, that would kill anyone, i think he is a corpse and that figure in black in the background is using him like a puppet
We know this isn't correct
I like this one but the finale is my favorite of the trilogy. You always impress me with your predictions and understanding of the characters in these stories. And an Adam Driver crush.. you want to change him.. bring him back to the light? 😍
✌️😉
You look lovely today too.
I hated this film. I now know who the audience they made this film for is.
I’m glad someone could enjoy it
I think I was their target audience because I loved it haha
So glad you don't listen to the
Complainers. This is a gift movie and I was enjoying it when you. You will love the final one, especially. Don't listen to haters. It's my favorite of the sequels.
As a storyteller this movie is just ….. not good. You can love it. That is fine. But I do not love it, or the next one.
Why would you want a vicious killer that murdered his own father to be lovers with the hero. You don't think she deserves better??
This movie is so terrible love your reaction though
The single WORST lightsaber fight scenes in the movie series history.
@@FosterTravis1071 no. That would be Kenobi V Vader ep 4.
You cant be serious, it was awesome!
they should have had Finn & Rose have a relationship ,they looked well together , but of course NEW star wars has NO LOVE or Romance like the old ones just bad stories that go NOWHERE from one one movie to the next and no FUN ... and REY could have hooked up with POE or Kylo she matched well with them
