I teach on the Eastern side of the Cascade mountains and the soils here are deficient in many minerals, including Selenium! My parents never understood the importance of trace minerals to the diet, but these days there are links to cancers and dementia due to lack of minerals found in ocean water. Selenium is actually incorporated into one of the twenty amino acids required for protien synthesis.... A yummy way to get our sea minerals thank you for your culinary artistry!!

I love having blood clams either raw or in seafood hotpot. I suggest buying the blood clams, washing them, and them cutting them to small pieces to be served raw like sushi.
