@@WannabeWryter main problem with that solution is that Hyperion isn't exactly the same as Supes and does not get his powers from just the sun. This one is a Mephisto creation to boot, so we don't know for sure how he stacks up with the earlier versions that include one with Eternal physiology adding Cosmic energy manipulation to his abilities, or the one that survived the destruction of his home universe. I don't think Storm would be depicted bypassing all his durability to just drain out his energy, because she's seldom (if ever) shown as just performing such feats but I guess it isn't totally out of the question.
@WannabeWryter Vulvan can control all elements including magic, he just can't command them as far as I know there's a difference, he used fire on storm because it's the only element she doesn't have experience with so they were still pretty equal, Storms powers are going to evolve said the new writer

@@WannabeWryter Considering what the prime Hyperion survived I guess it all comes down to how much weaker this Hyperion is, and just what aspect of space weather Storm's powers would generate to have an effect on him. Basically also depends if her type of energy manipulation affects his internal stores, but the trade off is mostly whether he attacks back or not (considering how much faster and harder hitting he has always been depicted as). Straight on head to head only Thor and Captain Marvel should be able to trade blows directly with Hyperion. Either way, like Blerd pointed out, this isn't meant to a) be a duke 'em out solution, or b) be a showcase of Storm's solo feats - it's an Avengers book with Storm joining, and a depressed Hyperion more in need of being talked down than wounded into submission.

Storm will apparently transform into Rogue Storm as she did in the past, and she is as powerful as Phoenix in that form, but had never gone into it again because she basically went mad. Also, she's not glass canon, she has various types of shields and can use lightning to amplify her strength.

As one commenter said, Storm is a smart fighter. She will not try to solo Hyperion. I truly hope they dont make her a side character. I hope they help her to grow as a character. The Scarlet witch is not a goddess, yet she has defeated gods. Storm can do the same.

As much as I love the X-Men other than Wolverine, Storm is the only one who's solo movie I would excited for. She's not only one of my favorite female superheroes she's one of my favorite heroes period male or female.
Last time I remember seeing Hypirion was during Aaron's run when he was paling around with Thor, they bounced off each other so well

They better not screw this up, Storm has gotten serious power ups. They better not nerf him. But off of Bloodhunt, there are plenty of items that Storms can cross. Storm/Panther, Storm/Hyperion, Storm/Sorcerer Supreme Doom. Storm-Doom crossings have always been great.

@@DavidJohnson-td5ic nobody knows, last time he was seen was at the ending of Secret Empire. He disappeared before Jason Aaron took over Avengers, I guess he wanted to introduce the construct Hyperion so he just stopped using him. I still have hopes of seeing him back.
I think Storm should invite the "I can do anything I want" version of Hyprion to a tea ceremony with a thin old bald Chinese man pouring the tea. Radioactive Man, who easily killed a Hyperion in New Thunderbolts title.
I think I saw someone else share my sentiments on Carol’s anger at the Blood Hunt event: I too believe it to be stupid that the concept of “saving everyone” is even a talking point. First of all, as the other commenter mentioned, Carol was part of the MILITARY. It should have been drilled into her as common sense that you can’t save everyone in a war or battle of high stakes.
So SHE of ALL people should not be mentioning it. It should be considered an out-of-character maneuver by the writers. That whole plot point feels like a convenient excuse to link to Storm needing to be added to the Avengers. Of course, a mutant voice in the avengers is good but the “can’t save everyone” plot point was too weak of a starter.
You mean to tell me that since the avengers were first formed, and ALL the world-ending threats they have faced since then, there has never been A SINGLE CASUALTY EVER? When all the buildings are crashing down and explosions are happening everywhere? The Kang incident? The Skrull Incident? The Hulk-related sagas? The annihilation wave with annihilus? The avengers have fought countless world ending villains, so for them to only start bringing up the “Can’t save everyone” plot point was a super dumb move.
And the fact that certain characters are even being written to AGREE with Carol is stupider. The avengers are not omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent gods. They cannot be everywhere at once. People will always die and collaterals WILL occur.
And finally, the most disappointing thing is that, as usual, Carol is written to have the most L takes that makes readers hate her. I am not surprised that Captain Marvel is hated. The way they make Carol to always be the one having terrible, stupid takes over and over is so very frustrating.

My sense is that the writers did imagine that there was an soul-numbing high casualty, but corporate dictat watered it down to a vague "thousands". A hands-wave-y thousands seems like cop-out by editorial. Realistically, it was a disaster, and a concievably avoidable one if there's a superhero team whose job it is to protect Earth.

@afro_princess1671 True... However the majority of those foes were more "phenomenal cosmic power" and energy "gunslingers". Hyperion is a more of a definitive physical presence with energy projection capabilities. He can tank most of what Storm can throw at him. While I don't completely rule Storm out of winning a 1v.1 if the stakes are high enough... She will definitely have to earn it...and it will be costly.

Now we know that Storm is in the a phase where she's exploring or made aware of her POTENT MAGIC abilities. With this in mind and with Wanda with her... could they possibly do a tag team of witchy witchy stuff to defeat Hyperion?
Honestly I loved that Eternal Hyperion from the Hickman era. His solo series probably was the last time we saw him 🧐. I feel he may make a comeback in the future as well. Wouldn't mind that version of Hyperion in the Avengers either.

Her durability is above an average human and healing slightly but not her strength. (From what I read) . I think what’s most powerful about storm isn’t just her abilities but how she chooses to use them.

Also, this version of which I call "Mephisto Hyperion" killed Galactus in one shot and Storm is no where near his power level.
If they are bringing Storm again to the fold, I hope they commit the same way they did when wolverine was an avenger. I want Storm of every story, even with avengers being as guest in different comics, i want storm to ne there.

Give it time, Storm will be a side character. Or she will end up leaving the Avengers. Every time the mutants are integrated with the other Marvel heroes , they end up sidelined. This is why Krakoa was immense. It truly focused on mutants without being hindered by the other Marvel characters.

Me, I’m still mad that the X-men didn’t get what was coming to them when Krakoa first started. All the political brainwashing, the sketchy business deals. Mutant kids using racial slurs. I waited years for Krakoa to go down in flames and the X-men to get a face full of humble pie, only for the writers to scrap the whole storyline at the end, wrap stuff up in a quick battle of good mutants vs. evil robots, bring everyone back to life, and go home.
What a letdown.

The Hyperion that scares me is the one from "The Exiles" comics. That one was dumb powerful and the only way they beat him was putting him back in his dead reality/universe. (by dead I mean he did kill everyone in it and he's all alone there)
Banner was experimenting on himself which made his Hulk transformation unstable during the time he fought Hyperion. Also Carol and Thor can easily absorb the solar energy from his cells to depower him. But writers don't go there because most fights would be over too quickly. Hyperion and Superman ain't all that bro!!!

Speaking of Secret Empire.. saw Deadpool/wolvie for the second time last night and I think I saw that secret empire shield buried in the ground right before the whole fox buried joke in the movie when Dead/Wolvie fight.
Right! Hyperion is a team threat. A solo fight with Storm or most any one avenger doesn’t make a lot of sense. There is that story where she put the pressure of a planet on Thor, although they weren’t really fighting. It was just to make a point. She could use a power like that in conjunction with other Avengers like Wanda to slow Hyperion down and figure out a way to resolve what he is wanting to do. It’s gonna be interesting to see how the end of this threat is written.

Im remembering Storm in the Sins of Sinter created a worm hole, which was the lowest form of reality warping. She also sub atomically can control electrons and create nuclear fusion.
Hyperior isn't immortal and can be defeated and has been by lesser characters. We also forget Storm is protected by the Bright Lady.

This Hyperion is one of the more powerful versions we've seen, managing to kill Hulk and Galactus and knock out Thor while weakened by Wakanda's Vibranium. That said, two members of the Avengers are armed with what essentially is his Kryptonite. Storm should play a significant role in beating him, but she absolutely should not solo him, her beating Vulcan with prep be damned.

I'm pushing back on this idea that the Avengers couldn't have helped mutants against Orchis; cuz they without question could've helped them. So who doesn't want Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther &Thor fighting on their side? Panther's tech combined with Forge could've been insanely deadly &Wanda could team-up with Hope again &get Synch and Rogue to claim her powers. Four Scarlet Witches could easily destroy multiple universes let alone Orchis
Just as I was trying to limit the amount of monthly comics I buy, they had to reboot Witchblade, bring back EC Comics, make Ultimate Marvel great again and now they put Storm in X-Men (as far as Marvel comics go I only buy X-Men and X-Men-related titles except for Ultimate Spidey and whatever Humbert Ramos is currently drawing).
But with that, I feel like I'm gonna be looking really fondly at 2024 in terms of comicbooks :D. Enjoying From the Ashes so far. I'm totally obsessed with Stegman's art on the adjectiveless, I like seeing NYX series again, Uncanny #1 was a blast and O M G we're gonna have Capullo doing a Wolverine comic.
And yeah, I liked Avengers #17, makes me genuinely curious to check the rest of this Avengers run.
Hyperion would absolutely NOT one shot Storm. That’s an insane take.
Sam literally tells Storm he wants the Avengers to have mutant representation. First thing I thought was, "isn't Scarlet Witch on your team?". Then I second-guessed it since I don't know Wanda's current status; she's been a mutant for 50 years, then Marvel said she wasn't, and I don't know if they reverted her back to mutant. Also, wasn't Avengers/X-Men collaboration the whole point of Uncanny Avengers? I'd follow Storm in any book, but if you're gonna make it a point to have an Avengers team with mutant representation, just re-form the Unity Squad.
Great issue, either way! Squadron Supreme/Sinister is one of my favorite Marvel teams, so I'm excited to see Hyperion return. Blerd: what issue is that depicting Hyperion fights Hulk back into Bruce Banner?
Storm ISN'T, yet, a real goddess though, is she? Like, she still has a regular mutant's (if mutants have regular) physiology. She doesn't have an ascended body or anything like that, right?

Anyone find it ironic that Carol is complaining that the "AVENGERS" didn't completely keep a crisis from happening. It's right there in the name.
Secondly, Storm says "It will not again, of that I can assure you." in regards to Orchis getting so powerful and slaughtering the mutants. It will not happen again, until the writers get bored and want to repeat the storyline once again.
She still my favorite Marvel Lady. She needs to take over leadership from Carol.
The only power that is useful against Hyperion is a strong telepath that stays out of his sight. But the writers will do what they do.

Don't have to please Hyperion stans sir. Storm control several different energies on the omega level as we know. His superhuman strength and what..fire beam...will outmatch Storm's energies...NAH. Remember what Vulcan did to Gladiator in X-men Red, Storm did the same thing to Mr Sinister years ago. She has but to manipulate the electrical forces in his brain to stop him or the air pressure in him but even on the external, she can subdue him and we are going to act like Storm's lightening is just a sting. She can intensify it to whatever degree to overwhelm.
Sentry will have to show up and rip Hyperion in half......would love to see that.

There are several different versions of Hyperion though and we don't know which this is.
