you didn't need to remove the whole cowl or the 2nd wiper arm. The first wiper arm you removed was all that was necessary, you can go through that hole to get to the rear ecu box bolt
You are exactly right. All you need, is one of those long skinny extended T30 bits, connect with a 1/4 or 3/8 ratchet, and you have straight down access to the back ECU cover bolt through the driver side wiper motor hole in that windshield rain tray. As long as the T30 bit is at least 3.5 inches long, one could get there no problem. Now, how does one get that screw out if the previous owner broke it off and the shaft is down there? Any ideas man? Lol. I can't get the windshield rain tray off without fear of breaking the windshield. I have the ECU cover off, but can't get enough leverage on the broken screw shaft tip. About 1/4 inch is sticking out and all I have to grab onto. Pliers and vice grips haven't worked. Might have to get a dremel and sand a slot in the screw head, to screw it out with a flat head. Don't think I can fit a drill in that area to drill it out. Hood would be in the way.
Very helpful video, thank you guys! I removed my ‘03 TT ECU and loom a while back... getting ready to install in my MK2 Golf, and needed to send the loom away. I was told to cut the housing apart! This is much better 😁
Hi I'm Audi 4 ever I'm outta for ever I just want to thank you for the videos you made they've helped me keep my Audi on the road, I got a question what do you think of Audi S4 I want to buy one I know they have the rear timing chains but what do you think?
Is the Transmission control module under the ECU? I have an 06 Audi A4 2.0T (NOT CVT) and May have a faulty TCM. But not sure if it’s here or under the passenger seat? Thanks
I have a 2009 with no power, the key fob isn’t recognized and the hazards switch doesn’t work either. Also the high beams switch has no power any ideas would be helpful
You did not mention that the replacement ECU needs the immobilizer to be programmed with 7 digit code for the car to run. The bitch is I'm having trouble obtaining the original ECU code to reprogram into the replacement ECU. Paul @ ua-cam.com/channels/dq2jaxcmgyX0AERivIB2Tw.html

Does the replacement ECU need to be reprogrammed to link with the key/security etc????

Thanks for the video. I thought those were pins and was going to grind the heads off. Followed your steps and ecu came out nice and easy.
I almost did the same thing! ECU is already out, but still connected to the loom.
What did you need your ecu out for mate?
Thanks for showing us how to remove the brains of the system, then we will do open brain box surgery's.

Hello. This is the part you should change if the PRNDS is blinking/flashing ?
You need to replace TCM(Transmission Control Module) which is located in the gearbox
