FOLEX is astounding. My poor mom at the end of her life got blood on the light carpet by her bed in her retirement home. No one could get it out and every day it reminded her of how ill she was 🫂 I ordered FOLEX, flew out to be with her at the end, and it took the blood right out. A very small thing, but it was one less thing weighing on her when she died. (Peacefully in hospice care at 91 ❤). Long story for an AMAZING product.
God bless you for giving your Mom that sense of comfort and peace in her last days on Earth. Also, you sold me on the product. I needed a good stain remover. ❤😉
I'm now convinced to get one - I kept seeing them but had visions of bits of clothing getting chewed up so stuck (literally) with the sticky rollers all these years.
If I could only have ONE You Tube channel to watch for the rest of my existence, Nick’s would be it …100%. I love his attitude, sass, charm and of course excellent taste in decor, products, etc. ❤ Please don’t EVER change 😊
Another reason to get the grill cleaner scrubber: Those old wire brushes can shed their tiny bristles which end up in grilled burgers. Then lodged in your throat or stomach. Lots of news articles on this.
As someone who works in a high-end printing and framing place, I wholeheartedly agree about the Amazon frames. $62 for a 24x36, or $41 for a 16x20 is terrific. Keep in mind that you can have a great 11x14 print, buy this 16x20 frame, and go to a shop like where I work and get a custom mat cut for it for about $15. The only thing even nicer than a framed print is a matted framed print.
Great input! An idea that I would like to share: If you buy an inexpensive downloadable print (One recommended source off the top of my head is Etsy), "paint" your print with Hodge Podge with the strokes going in the same direction as if you were painting. AE.G.: circular for an apple, horizontal for the sky, etc.). The h Hodge Podge dries clear and it makes your print look a LOT more authentic!
I never thought of just getting a mat cut, without buying a frame! My daughter is a watercolorist and I often find myself trying to find the correct size, or even similar size. Recently she started cutting her paper to more retail frame size which helps.
@@Pullisithe colored thick paper that sits on top of the artwork adding a coordinating color and holding the artwork away from the glass is called a mat in the US. For production produced sizes you can buy precut ones in limited colors but a frame shop will have big sheets that can be cut down to any size.
The scrub mommy is indeed better IMO. The soft side is good for wiping down the counter without leaving water streaks. They also sell 4-packs that are the same material as the scrub mommy but just regular rectangles for cheaper. I love them!
The Scrub Mommy paste is absolutely the best on my stainless steel sink. It comes in a container similar to car wax with a place to store the sponge in the lid. It removes the grime around the garbage disposal and erases the water spots, then leaves a shine that stays around a little longer than any other cleaner I have used. I am not a fan of stainless kitchen sinks, mine was here when I bought my house, but the paste does make it a little less of a pain. It is also all natural, so not harsh chemicals and that is awesome as well.
I only use scrub mommy but… I don’t use the sponge side it’s just soft for my hand to hold it. I just hate touching the rough scrub daddy side. 😂 I’m crazy.
“Sweet summer child, you don’t understand…” laughed so hard and yes also a Scrub Daddy convert after seeing a lady who does deep cleans on hoarded houses with them bc they really are the best. First time seeing this kinda video from you so really appreciate the review of the best at the beginning.
@kathywiseman7944 My butter is made of milk and salt, and it doesn't go bad. So unless the manufacturer is breaking Australian consumer law by adding unlisted ingredients, you're wrong.
I realised I was firmly ensconced in middle age when I started singing the praises of the Scrub Daddy to everyone I talked to for a full two weeks after I caved in and bought one. They really are that good!
The Scrub Mommy is great if you do a lot of hand washing of more delicate dishes. It's the normal scrubby texture on one side and then a very dense soft sponge on the other that creates a fantastic bubbly lather. I tend to keep a Daddy in the bathroom and a Mommy in the kitchen, which is pretty much the extent of my gender-normative bullshit XD
Magic Erasers absolutely will take off paint if you scrub enough, and if you use it in semigloss or gloss, it will take off the sheen. It is a mild abrasive, which is how it get things off. In a pinch, I've used one in place of super fine sandpaper.
I never found my Mr Clean ones effective at all. I dunno. They’ll probably make a reappearance sometime and then I’ll chuck them 😅 Then I’ll paint over the scuffs.
Buying “magic erasers” off brand and in bulk is one of my best life hacks I’ve learned. I bought a huge box maybe two years ago and I still have like 80% of them left. And I have matte paint on my walls so they’re super helpful for keeping them clean.
Melamine sponges are also AMAZING at cleaning the light rubber parts of shoes. My kids like Converse All Stars, and the toes and sides of the soles look brand new with a bit of work - it's amazing!
Yes. I made the mistake of using one on a brand new shiny white sink. Now it stains constantly. After that, and hearing how bad they are for the environment, I don't buy them anymore.
whilst I won't be buying anything here (on a "buy nothing" mission right now) I utterly adore your vlogs - I love your directness and find them so soothing to watch! Hello from Melbourne!
Re: magic eraser sponges - be careful on walls. Do a test spot first. I had a client's apt. painted at great expense and then saw a spot so I pulled out the trusty sponge to get rid of it and it took off the paint as well. I had to call the painter back to repaint the wall (at my expense).
Magic erasers are basically super fine sandpaper. They must have scrubbed pretty hard. Though if it was fresh paint, it wouldn't be that hard to scrub it off.
I also advise caution with these sponges on interior paint. Even when I use the sponge with great care, I see a difference on my paint, which is several years old. Usually the difference is preferable to the dark scuff mark, but I’ll end up touching up the paint later.
Love your videos! Interesting to hear about your butter molding. My mom was French and our butter was always out in just a butter dish. I leave mine out all the time too. Never had any issues. PS Scrub Daddy's for the stockings it is!
I will add that I have a French Beurre ceramic… had it for years… never put water in it BUT do always make a point of using salted butter. I was told that “that’s the secret”.
My pro-tip is Pure Citrus air freshener. You can get it a lot of places, including Home Depot and Amazon, but you don't really use it as an air freshener for this tip, though it does smell nice. It's the absolute best product I've found for getting stickers/sticker goop off of things. My husband used to do merchandising in Home Depots and they used it to get price tag stickers off of the bays all the time. Now, I use it to get those ridiculous Ross price tags that just disintegrate into goop when you try to remove them off of those steeply discounted name brand water bottles, or if my kid puts a sticker on the car window or something. Nothing works better. Though, I did find that it kind of melts Wet hairbrush plastic, so there's that. It's pretty much just citric acid oil.
I bought one after last year's video. It's a great concept, but mine needs recharging after lighting a few candles maybe four or five different times. Is that the way they work or is mine defective?
I've been using a butter bell for a few years. Mine's not as pretty as that one, but it works great. Every two or three days I pour the water out, wipe it out with a paper towel & refill it. My butter has never gone bad. If you still have a problem with butter going bad, add a tiny splash of white vinegar. You won't taste the vinegar and it helps to keep it fresh.
Scrub Daddy makes a grill brush, that my guy says is amazing. I think he thought it was over the top when he was gifted it last Christmas, but he’s now converted to the Scrub Daddy family.
The "magic" of the Magic Erasers (melamine) is that they're basically an ultra-fine sand paper so you can't necessarily use them on everything. They will dull and/or ruin certain types of finishes so if you're not sure, test on an inconspicuous place.
First, Amazon is basically the new online Sears and Roebuck catalog from 150 years ago. The thing I like best about the Scrub Mommy is that it comes in white--can't stand colored sponges. That is reason alone to buy it over the other one. Magic Erasers are basically 2500 grit sandpaper--if you aren't very gentle or use enough slip on painted surfaces, they will leave dull marks or take paint off.
I had never heard the phrase "you sweet summer child" before but it made me laugh when you said it- so I googled it to make sure I was guessing correctly about what it might mean and now I plan on using that expression several times today in random conversation with people.
Well I'll have to check out the Scrub Daddy. I was the same way about the Magic Eraser. I never gave it a second thought. Then some contractors at my house were using one and when I tried it, I thought, "What kind of sorcery is this???" Now I'm a convert.
Another cleaning tool I got from Amazon that I love is the Uproot Cleaner Pro Pet Hair Remover. I have four cats, one is a long hair, and this gets their hair off of everything! My son, who has three dogs as well as three cats, says they use theirs every day. It really does work just like the videos and is very reasonably priced. My mother taught me about Folex about 15-20 years ago. It's great stuff! There have been a few things that didn't come out of my carpet, but it's worked on just about everything. I think part of the key is to get it early. I think the grease (as in WD-40) that didn't come out for me had been there for months, possibly longer. I'm going to give some of your recommendations a try. Thanks for this video!
I have the uproot cleaner, and I found one even better! The ChomChom pet hair roller is AH-MAZING. So easy to use and grabs my cat fur off just about any soft surface like magic!
Hands down the most comprehensive explanation of the difference between sponsored videos and affiliate links... "Jeff Bezos is an idiot...' 😆😆😆 Nick always finds a way to make you laugh
Folex!! Many many thanks for adding this one. It saved my white lampshades from lily pollen. It's £30 to us in the UK but it's saved for things that I know other cleaners can't do.
Anyone know where I can find it in Belgium? Or what I need to look for? Is it just a generic enzyme cleaner? I bought one but it doesn’t work very well
Nick you gave some great tips, and opened talking points for broader education to the masses. Top notch job as usual. Luv your wit and your style. Please keep it up. Don't abandon us now that you're getting a fancy house. We luv your posts😅
I’ve been using Folex for 20yrs at least. It’s my laundry stain remover go to. Any stain on your clothes it works perfectly too. Both my boys played baseball and the moms always asked me how do I get my boys baseball pants so white? Between the red clay and grass stains folex got everything out. I would spray down their whole pant. I kinda laughed because Nick said his 2 Pack lasted him forever! I would go through a 2 pack a month with my kids. I spray the bottom of my boys white socks too to get the bottoms clean. They will run around in their sock and go outside🤦🏼♀️. I spray it on everything! When I have something that got some kind of food or blood I will spray the spot, really saturate, rub it in real good and then leave it in the laundry room till I do that load and often when I go to do that load the spot has vanished before I put it into the laundry. It keeps working as it sits.
A hook is a hook, those are pegs. And it does seem rustic, like something found in a log cabin, but fuctional and cute. Never had a magic eraser that worked. Ever try scrubbies sold at farmers markets or craft fairs, homemade they are fantastic.
Scrub Daddy! I got one after your last amazon video, and I like them so much I'm giving them to my friends now. It puzzles them and they laugh, but later mention how much they love them. This one was my favorite recommendation.
Hi Nick, I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for your insightful videos. Your recommendation of the Scrub Daddy sponges has been a game changer in my daily routine. I might be more attached to these sponges than is healthy, but their effectiveness is undeniable! Your product recommendations are always spot-on and incredibly useful. Thanks for the great content and for introducing me to my new favorite kitchen tool. Wishing you all the best and a joyful holiday season. Keep up the excellent work!
A friend told me to use a Scrub Daddy and any soap on my foot callouses every time I shower and I haven't needed to do anything else to have soft feet. You're welcome! 🙂
That cleaner sounds amazing! I thought turmeric stains were impossible to get rid of You've convinced me to get a scrub daddy too. I love magic erasers so much. They are good to get marks off fabric too. They don't discolour it like bleach. I often use them to clean the bathroom too. As well as marks on walls which is their main purpose.
Butter keepers are so awesome. I've had one for decades. My aunt was a rancher and have them so I had to get one. She gave it to me for Christmas all those years ago. They today work. I used to just redo the water every other day. This was fresh and nice for much longer.
Yes YES and *YES* to the de-pilling Conair doohickey. I. Fcking. LOVE mine. Pro tip: if you or someone you know has raggedy troll feet that get the fitted sheet at the foot of the bed all pilly, use this!!! I actually happened to have it with me when we stayed someone else's house and used it on their sheets. I need to buy a second one so in case mine dies, I'll have a backup. 1000/10 highly recommend. Just make sure you empty it frequently...it fills up faster than you'd think lol
difference between scrub mommy and daddy is mommy is double sided with a softer sponge, she looks more like a dish sponge that way. it's a lot nicer than dish sponge though and keeps shape just like the rougher side.
My teen son wanted me to try a Scrub Daddy for a long time so bought it and used it. I liked it but when we bought the Scrub Mommy, it is now my favorite sponge! I wanted something more delicate and the SM has the best of both worlds!
Here's a hack I just discovered. I was desperate one night getting ready to go out. My legs weren't in the best shape when it comes to smoothness. I got out a brand new good quality micro fibre cloth and damped it ever so slightly (less). I folded it in two and began to use it on my legs I held it at each end and swept it up and down my legs. I couldn't believe the difference it made to the smoothness of my skin. I managed to do both legs in 5 minutes. I finished off wih the handcream residue that remained on my hands after I'd washed them. Talk about necessity being the mother of invention. Both legs looked as good as though I'd spent a couple of hours on them. Give it a try !
@@rmarsh1088 M Darling girl. You know we are subjected daily to the whims and moods of the Algorithm. Today being a case in point, and, one of those days when my little piece of info landed near your post and Oh Dear ! . At least it wasn't filled with my usual cursing and swearing in Gaelic. I do hope you are recovered, from what might have been a lasting trauma. I hope it has not ruined your usual Thanksgiving Disaster, I mean Dinner, it should not, We all had a wonderful Dinner, and played a game based on my original Post. How wonderful it was to see my guests including the men, sitting on the floor with colourful micro fibre cloths in both hands rubbing their legs up and down , both sides. I have every confidence these scenes will be repeated at Christmas, with the men having shaved their legs in advance. Won't cause pain that way.. said my Grandmother.
To use my Nick vocabulary---I LOVE, LOVE the bathroom tile, the secondary living room chair, The guest bath tile, and the master bathroom!!! The nation area is to Die FOR!!!
I’m in the UK, I’ve used all Scrub Daddy sponges and scourers, the only flaw is that bits of the plastic it’s made from tear off when used regularly. The scourers are really good for nonstick pans, it cleans really well without scratching the surface. The magic eraser is good for cleaning dirty trainers but don’t rub the same spot too much!
Hi Nick. Just wanted to thank you for your previous video about home decore gifts. I applied you logic about treating yourself for my friends' christmas gifts, and it felt good. I feel confident in them, and it is not a feeling you usually get when you try to buy a small gift for someone.
HOLY COW!!! How is it possible that I loved every item that you recommended. Great job. Prior to your video, I had no interest in the sponges, but now I'm going to have to try them. Who know? Thank you. Best wishes.
Nick! First of all, you're a blast and a pleasure with what you do and who you are! Thank you!!! Would you please let me know where that particular sponge holder and hand soap dispenser came from? I have come across similar ones, but the ones on this video, I like them. Thanks again!👌👍
Really enjoyed the tour and seeing your pup. I have mixed emotions about mid century but that’s a me thing. I’ve yet to figure out my style, I guess eclectic is what most would call it but it’s really more like uncontrolled chaos. Love, the apartment, the outdoor space., all the bathroom tile and the bed with underneath storage. I need to look into getting one. What I love the most about your place is it’s warm and inviting while being calming at the same time. BTW I’ve always thought the clock was intentional and quirky, and I love it!
So with you on the framing thing ,it's so easy to get attractive and inexpensive frames / mounting etc that will make a print look 10x better .I use Amazon a lot ,for everything from my cat's dry food (grain free ,obscure-ish brand ) to bed pillows and duvets .If it's bulky or a pain to find ,Amazon is my usual answer .
I have a 7 stage reverse osmosis water filter. The well water in my area is hard. The filter makes it taste great. I store the water in French soda bottles, but the bottles turn green over time because there’s no chlorine in the water. So, I bought some bottle brushes from Amazon. There was a nice note in the box from the family in Kansas that makes the bottle brushes. How nice. I wish that Amazon would flag American family businesses. The brushes were good.

We always leave our butter out in a covered butter dish and it’s never gone bad.
Yep, me too, and I live in Melbourne, where it gets very warm in summer. I think that, as long as you use up your butter fast enough, you're fine.
Same, but I only even put a 1/4 lb out at a time. The rest stays in the fridge.
The new butter, unless you can find it home made, has so many additives that it would take months for it to go bad.

This is why I cough it up for SW Emerald line of paint. It handles kids and dogs and still looks new.
Yes. And then you see the loss of gloss when the sun shines on the spot! Not good.
They're also apparently super bad for the ocean. Releasing micro plastics into the water as they break down.
You can use the melamine sponges to stain wood. They suck up and hold the stain without dripping and apply it evenly
Wow. Great idea Thank you😊!

Nick, melamine sponges are micro sanders. You have to be careful on some surfaces (glossy) because it will take down the finish.

Nick always finds a way to make you laugh
I bought one but it doesn’t work very well
My mom would swear by Folex, and I still buy it. So far, mainly Home Depot has it near me. My Target doesn't carry it, not sure about Wal-Mart!
@@Flo-hy3zq In the the UK it is on Amazon but pricy.
I loved your home tour. I find it interesting, hip but warm. Your outdoor space is glorious.
I love the Scrub Daddy! It was on Shark Tank. There’s no other product like it.
Magic sponge is great for fiberglass shower. It cleans all the grey dirt.
Anyone else feel a strong urge to dash out and buy a Scrub Daddy??
A friend told me to use a Scrub Daddy and any soap on my foot callouses every time I shower and I haven't needed to do anything else to have soft feet. You're welcome! 🙂
@@anncarlson1396I’ve thought about using it to replace a loofah.
If you don’t you should. Scrub Daddy and Mommy are awesome.
Yes, I’m sold
Also at Walmart.
I must also add Chilewich is a GREAT brand for coasters, table runners, kitchen mats, and the like.
I love marble trays. I have one in my bathroom and one on my chest of drawers in my bedroom.
That cleaner sounds amazing! I thought turmeric stains were impossible to get rid of
You've convinced me to get a scrub daddy too.
You are a treasure! Not only great products and good information, but on a rainy, icky, day, you light up the room in a quiet, lux way!
Folex is incredible...and you are so right. I no longer have a Malbec stain on my white carpeting... ...
You NEED a scrub mommy!! Has a soft side to it 🥹 perfect for more delicate surfaces :)
Once again you hit it all the points out of the park. Thank you.
Ha ha, I thought for a moment that you were recommending using a pill remover on feet, to get rid of hard skin! 😂
@@GeeEee75so did I!
That table top shown advertising the Conair fuzz cleaner is beautiful
I’m with you about Amazon. Love/hate. I really trust your judgement. You don’t steer us wrong! ❤️
difference between scrub mommy and daddy is mommy is double sided with a softer sponge, she looks more like a dish sponge that way. it's a lot nicer than dish sponge though and keeps shape just like the rougher side.
Folex stain remover is AMAZING!
My teen son wanted me to try a Scrub Daddy for a long time so bought it and used it. I liked it but when we bought the Scrub Mommy, it is now my favorite sponge! I wanted something more delicate and the SM has the best of both worlds!
Love my Scrub Daddy. Be careful with the dry erasers, they can take finishes off or take the gloss off of gloss paint.
Folex is AWESOME! I've removed full-glass red wine spills from light colored carpet with that stuff!
You most definitely need the Scrub Mommy. Scrubber on one side, sponge on another. Love them both!
Yes, you also need a scrub mommy. It has the harsh side and a smooth/foam side.
Magic erasers are just really really fine sand paper!!!
We love the TRANSPARENCY 💜 at the start
I seriously love how tangential your descriptions can be❤
Videos like this always mean I'm buying SOMETHING for myself 😂 💜
I've just made up a couple of ittle packs in a toiletries bag. Good to have it handy, especially if you' end up in hospital for any length of time.
@@corryjookit7818 no idea how this is relevant to the video, or my comment, but.....thanks?
OOOOPS - UA-cam changed the vlog--- this comment was for the tour of his condo.
The LULU candle is everything. I have never had a candle that made me smell it every time I walk past it. Thank you for sharing!! :]
Nick, Folex is 10 bucks at Canadian Tire. Cheaper than Amazon!! $13 at Home Depot
I want to see your dog. And I agree that that folex cleaner is wonderful.
Folex is amazing. Thank you for reminding me of its existence.
Folex at Home Depot too - anyone with cats NEEDS this product. Great for stains as well as general carpet cleaning.
Nick for the butter keeper, you need to add salt to the water and that will keep your butter well preserved in it for ever :)
Love the Scrub Mommy- over the Scrub Daddy. I like these sponges for nonstick pans and anything nonstick. They won’t scratch the pans or leave marks.
Hi Nick. Just wanted to thank you for your previous video about home decore gifts. I applied you logic about treating yourself for my friends' christmas gifts, and it felt good. I feel confident in them, and it is not a feeling you usually get when you try to buy a small gift for someone.
The word you're looking for, Nick is de-bobbler (for the lint fuzzy pill remover thingy) - at least that's what we call them here in the UK! 😆
Since I heard from Temu, I started to love Amazon again.
Two thumbs up for Folex (you can use your fingers with it) and the Conair pill remover (excellent)! I have used both forever!
I use the SCOUR daddy. They’re my favorite. They’re also dishwasher safe.
I bought the candle lighter, Folex and I believe a really great spatula from your video last year. Thanks for the great recommends!
I bought the candle and I ❤ it!
Folex is awesome!! I found it at my grocery store in the cleaning aisle.
The lighter is 👍🏻⭐️👍🏻 Nice gift with the candle!
Thanks, Nick! I bought the de pilling gizmo!
The lint bush from oxo was a game changer for me.
Love the scrub daddy it is kind of life changing I can get mine at the local dollar store which is brilliant
My husband recently bought me a rechargeable lighter, like the one you showed in black, and i must say I am really enjoying it 😁.
