👋 Heads up!
My videos, descriptions, and comments may contain affiliate links! If you buy something through one of the links, you won't pay a penny more, but I'll get a small commission, which helps me keep the lights on! Thanks! - Навчання та стиль
Hey everyone! I made this video because I try to make my recommendations as accessible to everyone as I can and (love them or hate them) Amazon is accessible to a lot of people. However many of these items can be found at local or smaller retailers, so if you can find these things at other places - awesome! Just use this as a guide if that works for you! 😀
Love the recharger and the Mr. Siga. I might get the marble tray for my son for Christmas; men always need a place on their bureau to throw change and keys, etc. But, Nick, honey. The deli containers? If you ever get Chinese take out, just save the containers from the soups and dinners. (Do you have Chinese take out in BC? If not, you should protest.) They're very good quality and included with the meal. I think of it as recycling them. ;) But this may only be in my area. If so, I feel badly for them.
You can get a spatula from the Dollar Store....?
Hey some scammers pretending to be you replied to my comment just giving you an heads up.
Can you build an Amazon wishlist of the items you like?
Please buy coffee table books at your local bookstore! I BEG OF YOU!
lol which one??
Indigo Chapters destroyed all the independent local book stores.
Look in secondhand stores also, there's tones of books that needs a new home
Any of your local independent bookstores would be more than happy to order a book for you! Just give them a call and support your local independent bookstores!
And your local charity / thrift shops too 🤩
I know it’s silly, been going through a divorce, but your channel is helping me dream of the life I’m going to build. Thank you.
❤❤❤ Hope you build a beautiful home soon!!
I went through a 7 year relationship break up and pouring time into my interior design was super therapeutic. Hope you're doing better now!
I did the exact same thing when I was going through the most difficult break up of my life and it really helped. 2 years later I am about to move into a wheelchair accessible flat done exactly to my taste where it will be made for me so I can cook etc all on my own.
I'm so excited and hope you get your dream ending too
I’d be putting my drink on the charging stone and trying to charge my phone on the coaster. 😂
Hahahaha. Me too.
Haha it has happened
😂
Me too 🤣
Denise, perhaps you're my twin sister? Ha.. Pittsburgh, Pa. Boomer.
Omg! I just turned 40 and people have literally told me they don't believe me when I say Amazon used to sell books only! It's like they cannot fathom it!
Same here!!!
I'm 28 and I remember lol
i like to use photobooks as coffee table books, so many ppl hide their albums away but you can’t enjoy them like that, so i love the idea of making a photobook online and using it as a coffee table book so ppl can see your cherished memories, i change them out with the season or a recent vacation so it’s not always the same but yea
The character Gunther from Friends got the job because he used to work at a coffee shop and was the only one to audition that knew how to work an espresso machine. You kind of remind me of him. It's a compliment btw.
America’s test kitchen says so and I say so, so this is the one you need. 😂 This channel is highly amusing. I never go away without having laughed out loud at something Nick said.
As an option, you could also "make" your own travertine coasters by just going to home depot and picking up a few 3" ish travertine tiles and putting some felt on one side. They're probably not going to be round but they're going to probably cost less and still look stylish.
Did this with beautiful Spanish tiles from a misc box at a local tile place. Set of 4 for under $10 👌
You are so my FAVORITE snob❤️❤️❤️the fast talk, the love for everything America's Test Kitchen & beautiful design. Just can't get enough of this channel 😍you make me laugh & I totally mean this as a huge compliment ❤️❤️❤️
Really digging your coffee table book choices. No more Tom Ford book!
Mason jars are safer & more versatile than deli containers:
1. No plastic leaching into food
2. Don’t warp in dishwasher
3. Same lids fit all sizes of containers
4. Can store dry foods as well as liquids of any temperature
5. Can be sterilized
6. Can make fermented foods like refrigerator pickles
7. Don’t absorb food odors
Too useful to let Farmhouse look deter you!
For coffee table books, I have the art of Avatar the last Airbender and an old copy of the Players Handbook, but I forget which addition.
Speaking of, if love to see you do a video on decorating with "nerdy interests". A lot of my friends have cool character statues and things but I don't really like how any of them are displayed.
You have amazing tastes.
I have a very sleek black and gold legend of Zelda book art book that looks really good on my coffee table.
Unfortunately I think there’s somewhat of a negative stigma with “nerd design elements” with a lot of interior designers.
I once saw ATLA inspired retro travel posters online. That might be something to look into
I have my ewoks sitting out on wall shelves in my living room. I don't care if they match the rest of the room. I also have grogu stuff in the bedroom next to Stitch. My husband has anime, dragons, wolves and d&d stuff laying around while I also collect precious moments, cherished teddies, cats, chickens and butterflies. A few items in a room that truly reflect your interests are not going to put off anyone who actually matters.
This is the only video I've watched like this that I'd actually buy all of the stuff! Thank you!
I love my Frame TV. I have it shuffle through random art and it's always fun walking through the living room and seeing what beautiful piece of art is displaying.
What a fun! Whenever I watch you after a very slow speaking youtuber that I watch on 1,5 (or even just 1,25), I'm flashed away by a speed of light-Nick!!
Then I always think "Oh yes, right, with Nick you don't need that. He talks normal, not like in slo-mo!"!! 😅😅
I love the charging stone!
I’m with you on everything from America’s Test Kitchen! I got to meet the ATK ladies and it was one of my cooking life highlights! Love all the recommendations…as for the Amazon haters…don’t buy from Amazon if it isn’t for you. Personally, I love to buy local but quite frankly, it isn’t always possible. Especially for those of us with niche hobbies.
I remember when it was just books…circa 1997?! 😂 I remember my 1st purchase from them!
Love the ATK people! Trust everything they say
OMG I’d fangirl so hard if I met them! How cool!
I remember buying from Amazon in the old days too. In fact I still have a free magnet I got in an Amazon package from 1997 when I bought a college textbook from them. Crazy how much it’s changed!
@@Nick_Lewis absolutely! I completely nerd out on them. It’s the only TV cooking show I watch . I also got a few of their cookbooks signed and won some of their giveaways. I surprised my mom and took her with me. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it was one of the last things we did together because I lost my mom later that year. Such a warm and special memory for me.
That’s right, and they’re responsible for most of the closures of independent bookstores. Thanks Jeff Bezos!
@@GenRN so sorry for your loss. 💙. So nice that you have that memory.😊
I only got as far as the LuLu candles then was off to Amazon to order a bunch for stockings. Now that I’ve resumed watching many days later I’m still ordering based on your ideas. Thanks for this and for having such and engaging channel and wonderful personality.
I have several of those spatulas and what's interesting is some of them are magnetic (where they'll stick to my magnetic knife strip) and some of them aren't. So I guess they change up how they're manufactured. Well, mildly interesting at least.
Years ago purchased a television by Essoni. The appeal of their televisions were that the frames were made of wood and natural stone. The company never took off really. It was an LG Asian company. I loved that tv. I still have it. One day the screen went blank but I could still hear the volume. 😭 it’s so beautiful…I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away. Maybe one day I’ll get an expert to fix it. The wood on that television frame is a work of art. It was considered an Italian wood frame.
Aqua verve use to sell the wooden water dispensers. I love mines and I keep it upstairs. You have to tote the 5 gallon water upstairs is the only drawback.
Another great thing about the DiOro spatula-it has a lifetime replacement warranty. It’s incredible. If it wears out they just send you a new one.
Your video wasn’t showing up on my homepage. Gotta have nick with my Saturday midday tea. I’d like to request a video like this for target. Now that you’ve exposed all the white labeling I’m open to considering them for decor.
Great picks! I love travertine and laughed at the spatula as I believe everything American Test Kitchen says. They could sell me swampland 😂😂😂😂. They have great recipes too!
Same here, I love these spatulas
My ONE regret about my Samsung Frame is getting one too big. We don’t even use that space for our major gaming or tv watching, and I got a size that I would use for that instead of getting one to blend into the space, if that makes sense. If I got a smaller one, it would look more “natural” and better fitting in the space that I have it in. I should have planned more from a “what size picture/art would I hang here” instead of a “what’s the biggest size I can fit in here”. If it’s going to be your main tv, get whatever size is best for your seating distance, but if you can have more flexibility with size, I recommend looking at it from a different way. Now I have a randomly way too large “art piece” on a wall space that doesn’t make sense. I should have gotten one to fill 2/3 of the wall space width, like I would for actual art, instead of like 90% coverage so I could have a huge screen I didn’t actually need.
13:50 ha ha, the crusty little old soap sitting on top.
I had to check if my web cam was on because I felt like Nick was staring straight into my kitchen looking at my soap dispenser.
Your videos are so good, between practicality and your awesome sense of humor, I just enjoy them so much. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for making great content. I especially appreciate the way you organize your show notes! So thoughtful and detailed. Simply perfect!
Let's talk ☝️ I have something new for you
thank you for these!! I love that they aren't all budget busters but great additions!
Nick you have the most refreshing personality!! I just love listening to you. You are witty though I’m not sure you know it lol. And just so relatable. Hey from Jersey ❤️☮️
Thank you so much for your insights. I very much enjoy watching your videos.
I remember when amazon was only books too, then the Kindle was a big thing!
Nick, I get so excited when I see a new video from you on my list! Love, love, love your design style, spot on recommendations, thoughtful and entertaining delivery. ❤❤❤
Let's talk ☝️.
I have used the deli containers for about three years and love them. Hint... if they get stuck together pop them in the freezer for about two hours and presto they will come apart.
I’ve never had mine stick but good tip!
@@Nick_Lewis Restaurants use these as take out containers, meant to be disposable. You've gotta upgrade to something better. The more flexible the plastic is, the more harmful chemicals leach into the food you eat when they are warmed (dishwasher, microwave)
Loved loved loved this video. Nick cracks me up!
You and I have some similar taste. I too love to repurpose things or put them in other containers to make them look more aesthetically pleasing. I had a candle cloche that I emptied out and put black matches in it for my candles.
The same thing online is around $45 and I paid just for matches and use the candle cloche that I emptied
I put my dish soap in a beautiful glass lotion bottle that I had and emptied.
I also like to buy things like marble, slate and travertine stone tiles at places like Lowe’s, Home Depot and Menards, and turn them into coasters, candle holders, cutting boards and decorative pieces.
Agreed with frame and no nespresso. Also have a good quality coffee machine. Thanks Nick
I'm a firm believer in deli containers. All Left overs - deli container it. I think Nick forgot the best part though, all the lids fit all the sizes. Never - ever - ever ! - look for matching lids again. Wonderful.
LOL yes!!! Amazon started sort of like a Barnes and Noble competitor, just books, totally remember that! 😂👵🏼 #GenX
I just got my deli containers!! You’re the first channel I’ve seen recommend them and I too love them for freezing soups I like to make in bulk and other odds and ends storage!
I bought the your recommended spatula and amazed at the high quality - thanks for the items
Nick and his obsession with round things
Ugh, oud is such a luscious scent. It blends well with rose, my personal favorite scent. Also, Mr. Siga makes the best cheap microfiber cloths! Sorry, Mr. Clean. Mr. Siga is my cleaning husband now.
I always enjoy your videos!!!🥰🥰🥰
This was the best! Such great ideas. I loved everyone of them❤
Thanks so much for mentioning the West Coast North book - I’ll be building on the island next year in preparation for my move back to BC after many years in Australia, and this book will be great for getting ideas.
Thank you so much for this video, this was heaven sent. I've never ordered something faster than the kitchen soap dispenser. I've been looking for months for something to solve the problem of the ugly and way too big bottle in the corner and where to put the wet sponge. You're really changing lives here, weird but true, it's been haunting me.
I hope it has lasted longer than the cheap ones like that that I have bought before. I had 2 and both were good for about 6 months before the pump part snapped. I finally bought the one from Oxo and it's still working perfectly 3+ years since I bought it. I should have just got Oxo in the first place.
Love this video...packed full of great ideas, thank you!!!
For food storage I prefer the square boxes as you loose less space in the fridge or cupboard. I have the Delonghi dinamica plus coffee machine. You don't have to fiddle with anything, you put your whole beans, your water, attach the milk container and choose on the screen which coffee you want it is mostly self cleaning you only have to empty the used coffee ground container. In my small kitchen it replaced the coffee grinder, the regular coffee pot, the french press and the kettle: I love it!
I agree, squares containers are space saving, and they usually make them flatter, so they stack. Hard to find a good square container that is see through that doesn't have flimsy lids.
@@nancyneyedly4587 ;
bought a couple of glass STARFIT rectangle ones from walmart TODAY, as I only want glass containers
@@nancyneyedly4587 Anchor Hocking makes rectangular glass containers with sturdy lids. I love mine… and made in USA.
thank you for this list...so much inspiration for gift giving!!!
I'm adding some of these to my stocking stuffers this year! Thank you! ☃️🎁
😮 Kelly Stamps spatula shout-out?! I knew you were golden, Nick!
Thanks Nick. I needed a nice gift and got the round walnut cutting/serving board. 👍
Hi Nick, being a coffee fanatic myself (though not necessarily espresso and all those espresso based drinks) we bought America's Test Kitchen recommended TechniVorm Moccamaster and LOVE it. The brew of the coffee is better than anything else I've ever had. Thanks - love your channel and appreciate this content.
These are some great ideas, not only for me but as gifts. Thanks!!😃💓
I'm loving all of these recommendations! Will definitely use your links to buy.
Loved this video. I was a barista too. My son’s wife runs a drive through coffee shop on their property, wonderful. Now I’m old-er when my son visits us he brings me a yummy coffee. Point is, I understand why you chose to have ‘your’ coffee machine on the counter instead of an air fryer which I refuse to own. Everyone has an air fryer taking up space here in Oz. Cheers.
Let's talk ☝️
I also refuse to own an air fryer yay!!!!!
Yes! I have a candlelighter like that, though the brand name is different. Love it. It charges with a USB chord and holds a charge for a long time
Love your videos, quick and to the point. I’m also learning a lot.🤔
We have been using the deli containers for a few years. They were game changers as far as food storage goes!
Thank you for the amazing recommendations! Some of these products wills make great Christmas gifts ✨
Thank you, Nick, you provided many great ideas for Christmas gifts!
Let's talk ☝️ I have something new for you
I went all-in on glass ball jars (canning jars) in the fridge after seeing it on Pinterest. It works SO well to extend the life of produce. Well, now jars have crept into cabinets, pantry, and just about everywhere else. We love them.
And they don't ever stain!
I have discovered Weck jars, and got a little obsessed. They are from Germany. I like that they don't have the metal rings, but I will say I am worried about breaking the glass tops, but they are so pretty and nifty. How did I get so wrapped up in jars?
@@nancyneyedly4587 Very pretty jars! I buy mason jars in bulk from Walmart. Can't beat the price.
@@ValleyOakPaper you can, just buy products in glass jars and re-use the jars!
Yep, Mason, Bernardi, and Ball love them all, and bonus, I can reheat in the same jar ( sans lid of course) and since I actually preserve the bounty of the garden in the fall they are beyond practical for my purposes.
Coffee table book! Ah! I've been trying to think of ways to incorporate my LOVE of camping and outdoor sports without being cringy "Happy Camper".
Let's talk ☝️ I have something new for you
Atk for the win! Lol I have such fond memories of watching that on Sunday mornings as a kid. I need to try that spatula! Also can second the electric candle lighter. My husband picked it up for me and I love it ❤
Nick…you are the funniest in this video. Thank you for your recommendations. I am already buying stuff on Amazon!
The LULU candle is one of my absolute faves!
Thank you so much for the espresso machine recommendation! ❤ ☕️
Thanks Nick- bought 2 of your suggestions my DIL's Christmas stocking!
I'm glad you didn't say our homes will look ugly if we use the original soap bottle. Of course nobody wants a crusty bottle but it is possible to clean them. I tried several and got a small one that fits my hand and then I refill it from a jug. I don't use a sponge like that, but the container you showed was interesting and creative.
Love the video! Thank you. Also, I have to say that the little attitude towards Starbucks in the end was perfect 🥰. Felt that myself when I got my espresso machine. Lol.
I use a bathroom soap dispenser in my kitchen and fill that with dishsoap, I prefer the stone to a plastic container
Let's talk ☝️ I have something new for you
I love, love, love that spatula. It's the first thing to come out of the drawer when I cook.
Always informative and entertaining!
Dude the frame tv is SO COOL I don’t know how it does it, it goes matte and makes it look like a real painting. It’s like magic
These are all so great and gives some ideas for gift giving too. Thanks Nick
Let's talk ☝️
Nick I’m with you about the eggnog latte! I also wish Starbucks would have caramel brûlée lattes available year around 🤗 and THANK YOU for these great Amazon ideas. My cart is packed now 🤣
I am so with you on the coffee! And the coffee makers. People love what they love but I’m a purist! ❤
I am totally with you on the wood cutting boards. Some are too beautiful to cut on. I've toyed with the idea of just cutting on the back but nawww. I have 2 old cutting board that I do use then stow away when not in use. I think I see that silicone spatula in my future. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing! Always so great 😁
The deli containers are awesome. I use them for the kitchen and misc storage.
ugh, these are GIVING. Natural materials are -- and i'm not exaggerating -- ESSENTIAL.
So funny that as you were talking about the soap dispenser, I was thinking I hate stuff on my counter. Good idea in the sink!
"I think it was a bit of a gamble," lol I loved that bc it's so true w Amazon in general
Thank you for taking
An unusual tip for the Frame TV… I put one in my bedroom but not in my den (yet). It keeps my bedroom feeling calm and luxe and I didn’t have to put any kind of media furniture to accommodate it. Since most people expect to see TVs in a den, it’s easier to work it into a cohesive look. I’ll eventually put one in my den too, but I think it was more bang for my buck in my bedroom. Esp because you enter the room with the tv wall on your right, so you’re staring into the side of it, so that super thin, sleek frame is awesome. It’s also a great tv! Watch Amazon & Best Buy for open box deals. I saved hundreds on mine.
How can you tell you grew up with a wood turner parent: the wood candlesticks look simplistic. :)
This was both fun and quite useful ❤
I agree with your Amazon assessment. Your hair blends beautifully with your grey decor. You always provide attention to detail.
I really like that I can always count on your good taste. Yes, America’s Test Kitchen is the best!
I love that spatula, too.
The soap dispenser makes me side eye. I am so old school that when I hand wash dishes I use a plastic washbasin in the sink -- squirt in the soap, fill it with hot soapy water and drop in the dishes: it wastes less water, gets the dishes cleaner, and uses much less soap!
The "wash dishes under running water into an unplugged sink" just bugs me.
Let's talk ☝️
'get it right' is also a very good spatula/ utensil maker. I bought one for making candy since it can withstand high heats and they also have a very thin spatula for scraping out jars!!
Thanks for the links. Fun video.
What great suggestions! As you said in the beginning - anyone can go to wherever they prefer, you are only offering item recommendations.
I am soooo getting that spatula, and maybe the charger.
You crack…me…up!
I’m with you in that my decor needs to be functional but it better be attractive while functioning otherwise it needs to stay out of site. 😄
Hi Nick so glad you mention your Rocket machine I was looking to buy one for myself thank you. 😄
These are all great gift ideas!
100% agree with the deli containers. They are great for prep work, having guest take home left overs, storing leftovers in the fridge or freezer, for painting, etc. (Except for painting), they wash easily in the dishwasher. I use the really old ones for painting then toss.
That spatula is awesome 👏🏻
