The G1 Hoist my grandma gave me when I was a kid was a favorite. This guy looks cool and definitely tickles the nostalgia.
I remenbered my G1 Hoist, broke one of his arm while transforming it the first time
Hoist is a favorite. He's not one of the main dudes, but during a family reunion or photo op, you notice he's missing. He's one of those who just completes the fam.

I love that he doesn't actually borrow much engineering from Trailbreaker. There's similarities here and there, but in general, he is his own figure, and I love it.
Really nice and simple design and transformation. I like it. Sorta reminds me of old Takara engineering with the Datsuns. Glad they are simplifying the overall transformation again.

MP Hoist is far and away the better figure compared to FT, especially in truck mode. And that orange, woof! Love your outro skit though! Nice one.

I was hoping to see the alien pose and comparison with Sunstreaker.
I really like Hoist better than Trailbreaker. I think the Green and Orange color works so well and he has a battle mask that I like. Good video!

Original G1 Hoist was my first ever toy, so he's my top favorite, but when i got the Masterpiece i've immediately regretted buying him.
He is supposed to be short and stocky (which you can clearly see in the cartoon version) but the toy is tall and lanky... more like Trailbreaker...
The worst part is the head area, too thin plastic holding the two halves of the toy and is bound to break, reminds me of the green plastic on Hound...
They should have made the top area atleast die-cast so it holds the area better and will be more sturdy...
While it "looks" good in photos, was very disappointed when having him in hand...
I love how close to the G1 figure the transformation is. Pretty sure even I could manage this one.
Ah, the '83 Toyota SR5, truly a rock solid workhorse of a truck.
Most of this figure has studio series level of transformation, yet it still all works so well!

Bit of a downer but this may be the last official MP I preorder. Gappy, limited articulation and premium price. Just not seeing the value any more in some of them.
I have very few main line bots. 3rd party is almost always superior, in my opinion.
I have done this exact same thing. Thankfully I only started recently and with the help of many UA-camrs videos it’s 3rd party all the way for me now!

Takara went insane with this figure huh? I thought it would be just a slight remold of Trailbreaker but nope, it only shares maybe a bit of the chest part and that's it.
If you want, BBTS has the Takara Encore reissue for G1 Hoist available for $65.
You're upgrading your videos by bringing in pictures to compare the figure to. Cool. I was wondering straight after the transformation, why were you moving the figure to the left? There you go.

I think the comparison with the Fanstoys version really drives home that striving for cartoon accuracy can result in some very bad designs. In this case, no pelvis whatsoever, just legs sticking out of a torso.

You have Grapper right? Because it was both of them that teamed up with the Constructicons in order to build that solar tower that Grapper and Hoist came up with that Optimus didn't like.

I think I prefer fans toys over the official except for the head sculpt. But I'm not a big Hoist fan, so......😂

Nice figure, but I would have preferred that they borrowed more of the design from Trailbreaker and at least ditched the garish looking panels behind the arms. I never liked how the cartoon turned this guy's appearance into fatty-bot.

I gave the official a skip. The bot mode is too cartoon accurate for me and looks goofy and i really dislike how you can see right into the bot through the windshield. I have MMC in bot mode, and FTs in all mode.

not an MP collector but honestly I think the official looks better. the FT one's head looks way too big, and the chrome legs are also weird. the whole "short sleeved shirt and shorts with knee-pads" looks way better when the legs are the same color as the arms.
Same. As great as Fans Toys looks at times, what I also care about equally is transformation. Fans Toys have HORRIBLE transformations that are flimsy and non-intuitive. Takara with every single character they do with the exception of MP-44 which is admittedly over engineered in places, have a good balance of aesthetic and transformation. This figure looks to be no different.
Now hopefully we get Cliffjumper officially announced and Jazz soon after now that Porsche has let Transformers do their thing again.

LMAO! Prime said "WHAT?!" so much I thought either he was doing a bad Ironhide impression, or his CPU burned out trying to process what he was seeing. And i wouldn't blame him in the slightest. Who ever wrote that episode was on some seriously hard energon dust that day.The only episode that made this look good was the terrorist country of carbombia episode. I'm pretty sure they sent that writer to rehab for that one. Yeeeeeesh! 😆😆😆

Not to body shame, I love Trailbreaker’s dad bod, but I’ve never been a fan of Hoist. His huge hips and scrawny legs just always turned me away.

3rd party is almost always better.. No exception here. Fans toys hoist is way better.
The problem with 3rd Parties is that they are Chinese companies that have little to no safety control. What if the paint on the 3rd Party figures have lead in them?
