I actually met the owner 2 years ago at JEN in New Orleans. Very nice guy and the paseo is also in my opinion my favorite trumpet I've ever played. He was really funny and the first thing he brought up was the fact that he cut his finger off while working on an instrument.
BAC is a real cool company, I really like their horns and Mike Corrigan and everyone else I've met there are incredibly talented and are just all around good people
B A C company bought out the Kanstal company in 2019 which bought out a lot of the F E Olds tooling and patents from the bankruptcy court in 1980'. i can see the influence of the F E Olds special trumpet in the horn you played. any pro model trumpet with a copper bell will have a warm rich tone in all ranges GC Conn and F E Olds built horns with copper bells. i love the sound of the model you covered
I noticed their website specifically mentions this horn was made with tooling from " a respected trumpet maker in anaheim, CA" which would be Kanstul of course. I was sorry to see Kanstul go, but watching this video makes me glad to see the legacy of craftsmanship continue.
@@tsori8717 Zig was one of the last of the master horn builder whe begane his aprentishship with F E Olds in LA in 1952 . Zig had a large family to support so he was building 40 to 42 horns per day because he needed the money.. after Olds went out of business in 1979-1980 Kanstul bought out the tooling from the FE O;lds bankruptcy court and began building horns under the Kanstul name in 1981. I like the ring for the thumb. Now I know that my thumb isn't going to slip off of it like it always does. Also it looks like you lost some weight. Nice job!
My Schiller trumpet has the thumb ring as well, and I have such a hard time getting comfortable with the typical u-shaped bend now; especially when kicking out the slide, having a ring makes for a much nicer movement.
I agree new healthier look and new fingering style. Quality of trumpets have gone from a few hundred to several thousands. Although my faves are your unboxing

I got to try this horn at NAMM 2020. With the copper bell and all I expected it to play all dark, but man if you step on the gas that thing lights up like crazy. I think it has an interchangeable leadpipe system, too?
Sex appeal. Higher copper content in the brass produces a warmer quality to the tone. Probably not the thing for a fist chair in Big Band, but first chair in a Symphony Orchestra, or a lyrical soloist might want to have one around.

You should google Algirdas Matonis. Euphonium. He is a pro eupho player and last year did comparison tests on euphs. Trent is great too, but Algirdas specialises in eupho. A great player and teacher.
Very fine horns indeed. Many consider them the best ever made. I’d suggest that their prices are a HUGE barrier for maybe 99% of all players. BAC is making truly excellent horns which while priced at a premium for the top-tier line, are still quite affordable for most players. I’ve found the BAC horns to also have excellent characteristics for blending in with the full trumpet section.
Today I picked up an Allora Chicago series trumpet for $750, and for a cheap, professional trumpet, it plays great! The valves are responsive, the 5C mouthpiece it came with was very nice, and the tone is overall pretty good. I was very impressed with it.

As a Kansas Citian, you're pronunciation of the Paseo is actually right on point (pa-SAY-o)
Well, "Paseo" is a spanish word meaning "to take a walk" so it actually spells (pa-SE-o).
Here in New Zealand Paseo is actually a brand of toilet paper.
