- jack @WhatsGood24-7 breaks down how to respond to an overdose - and remember, always call 911 for medical assistance right away if you find someone unconscious from a suspected overdose. then begin responding with naloxone and rescue breaths until that help arrives. 📲

Solid video. Being in an OD response situation sucks. Being unsure of what to do in an OD situation really sucks.
my friend saved my life by doing this. i am so grateful he did. just celebrated 5 years sober ✨
Congratulations 🎉
Congratulations my friend, stay well, 👏🙏✌️
Heck yeah nice work!
Congrats!
Wow great job
I like Jack's comedy shorts but it's awesome to see him doing PSAs like this
I never knew his name. It’s Jack! Ohh
he does look like a jack tbf
This is so important. I and two friends saved my partner's life when a miscalculated opiate prescription caused an overdose. Because of her high prescribed dosages, we have Narcan in the house, and we used it within a minute of when she slumped over and stopped breathing. She started breathing again almost immediately, and began groggily responding to "Can you hear me??" and shoulder shaking soon after. I've never heard a more beautiful sound.
By the time the EMTs arrived, she was coherent enough to claim it was no big deal. We, the EMTs, and the ER staff all disagreed with her. 🙂
Keep Narcan around if you can. Know exactly where it is and how to use it. Mentally rehearse making the quick decision to use it in an emergency. You can save a life by being prepared.
Such a fun way to learn first aid!! 🎉🎉
I’ve been carrying Narcan for 3 years and have never been shown something that makes understanding its use so simple. Thanks guys.
I know some people who use the good ol’ sternal rub. Seems a little harsh to me but I guess in an emergency it works.
That's what we were taught. I've done it to myself a few times so I know exactly how unpleasant it is. I've also heard from more experienced responders that yelling "Ok, I am about to administer Narcan!!" has gotten a response if they were just ignoring you because they were trying to enjoy their high. It's good to warn them so you aren't administering Narcan non-consensually to someone who is using opioids but not ODing.
Thank You for taking the time to film and post this, and including the possibility of needing multiple doses and when to administer. Hope you influence more people to follow in your profession.
Thank you!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Clear concise instructions. Excellent!
EEEEEEEE-MS!
I'm going for my first aid refresher tomorrow and this was very helpful
Oh! This… is not the channel I thought it was! Which means it’s a VERY effective PSA, congrats! I hope it saves lives. ❤
Oh wow. I didn't know. That's actually really useful to know.
Thank you Jack!!! Awesome as always ❤
Thats a really well made video, thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you
Wow! Saving a life looks kinda fun! Thanks for this 😉
I forget who said it, but I remember seeing someone say "if you want to be a real life super hero carry [naloxone]." That shit stuck with me
i find it funny how i thought about my dad just a little bit ago who overdosed around 15 years ago when I was about 5 and this pops up
For opioids overdose only
Curious- what are the hazards of overdoing naloxone accidentally? Like CPR you can break ribs, most life saving techniques have some risk- usually smaller than the hazard they save you from.
You can't overdo it, it works by just blocking your opioid receptors. And if you give it to someone who isn't on opioids, it will also be fine - won't do anything. The only downside is that withdrawal symptoms from opioids are themselves unpleasant, but like you said, better than the hazard itself.
One of the reasons you check if someone is actually ODing or just sleeping / drowsy is because if someone is doped up and having a little nap and you hit them with Narcan when they weren't in danger, they're just going to be sober, in withdrawal, and pissed off and it makes them distrust first responders and be more secretive about their use.
Got it!
How you learned to save someone from an OD: *[This video]*
How I learned to save someone from an OD: *"GET ME A FELT PEN, A FUCKING BLACK MAGIC MARKER!"*
IYK, you're a real one 😂
Hey whaddya got against avo toast?
Naloxene is free and available to drug users by ems and first responders..but..epinephrine (for people with allergies) is 300$ and only available by prescription. Something is wrong with this picture
Punchmade Dev really increasing the numbers out here 😭😭😭
Given that, according to my brother who runs a liquor store in Colorado, “The heroin is fentanyl, the cocaine is fentanyl, the meth is fentanyl, and the pot is probably NOT fentanyl!”, everyone needs to know how to save the life of someone who may well have just thought they were destroying their nasal septum! 😬
Wait, he is unresponsive but there is pulse and breathing. Why are we administering anything?
Opioids slow a person's breathing so much that they die. The lack of response and slow breathing indicates an opioid overdose, and the nasal spray used here interferes with the opioids in the brain and can help restore breathing while help is on the way
@@sarah.s.flanagan Ahh, I see now! Makes sense, thanks!
Beautiful white man!!
Nah son. Save the taxpayers money.
Waste of time
Just legalize drugs so we can stop with this nonsense
You don't, you look over there body and ask what did you learn then keep moving. 98%are to weak to recovery not worth the effort
Mmmm junkies can though, F'em. However, great content and message / collaboration.
You are under no legal obligation to save lives if you don’t want to. However, in this glorious, free country in which we live, others have the absolute right to think poorly of you! 😒
