How to make delicious Gujiya at home|| Perfect recipe for Holi

    Gujiya is a delightful sweet pastry hailing from Indian subcontinent, particularly enjoyed during the festival of Holi. It features a crescent-shaped crust filled with a luscious mixture of khoya ( milk solids ), sugar, and an array of nuts and spices. The pastry is meticulously sealed and then either deep-fried or baked to golden perfection. Each bite offers a perfect balance of crispiness from pastry and the richness of the filling, making Gujiya an irresistible treat for those with a sweet tooth.
    Here's a traditional recipe for Gujiya :
    INGREDIENTS
    Crest
    - 2 cup all purpose flour ( maida )
    - 1/4 cup clarified butter ( ghee)
    - 1 cup warm water
    Filling
    - 1 tbsp clarified butter ( ghee )
    - 1/2 cup semolina ( sooji )
    - 1/2 tsp clarified butter ( ghee)
    - 1/2 cup of chironji, almond and cashew
    - 1/2 cup grated coconut
    - 250 gm khoya
    - 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
    - 1/2 cup powdered sugar
    - Oil for deep frying Gujiyas
    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. For making the outer crest, in a bowl combine all purpose flour with clarified butter and knead it into a dough using warm water.
    2. For filling, take some clarified butter and roast some semolina in it.
    3. In the pan, again take clarified butter and roast some nuts in it.
    4. Now dry roast some grated coconut in the same pan.
    5. Then roast some khoya in the same pan.
    6. Combine all the roasted ingredients in a bowl and miss them together with the cardamom powder.
    7. Now take a small piece of ball from the dough and flatten it using a rolling pin. Place it on a gujiya maker and stuff the filling. Your gujiya is ready.
    8. Now deep fry them. Remove the fried gujiyas using a slotted spoon and drain the excess oil on paper towels.
    9. Allow the gujiyas to cool completely begore serving. Enjoy these delicious treats with your family and friends during festive occasions.
    NOTE: You can also bake gujiyas in a preheated oven at 180 degrees
    celsius for 20 - 25 minutes or until golden brown.
