do you dip and then lightly brush to smooth out any heavy paint areas ....or does it all soak in due to the block porosity? also, if using grout you have mentioned that the blocks should be sealed ahead of grouting...would the paint be an adequate seal to prevent grout staining?

Great question! When painting clay breeze blocks, it's best to mix the paint with water to create a thin consistency. This allows the clay to absorb the paint without the need for brushing. If the paint is too thick, it may create puddles or globs on the surface of the brick. To achieve the right consistency, the paint can be diluted so that when dipping the breeze block, it will dry without dripping.
We recommend sealing your block with sealer, paint is not an adequate sealer.
