Hi 👋 If the patient has not been Treated for amebiasis.... then the parasite will still be detected in stool since the Amoebae invade the bloodstream from the intestines and spread to the liver and other parts of the body where they eventually form abscesses which can only be detected by an examination of aspirates directly from the abscesses for E. histolytica trophozoites. It is also Very Important to note the symptoms of the patient that may be able to indicate if the parasite has spread such as Severe Pain and tenderness in the affected region, fever, chills, night sweats, anemia and jaundice that may suggest the presence of E. histolytica abscesses in the body.
Hello 👋 Entamoeba histolytica is usually found in stool after eating contaminated food or water.... Parasites are rarely found in urine.... But a few may infect the bloodstream or urinary bladder and then are found in the urine (eg. Schistosoma haematobium). Hope this helps!
Hi 👋 Thank you for your feedback.... This culture test was intended for a Urine Colony Count using a 1 μl calibrated disposable loop... The number of colonies that grew from 1 μl (microlitre) was converted to number of colonies per ml (millilitre) of urine to determine the presence of a urinary infection.... If you have any other questions... Please ask! Thank you.

Hello! A semen analysis is a common test that examines the overall health of male semen (composed of sperm cells in a fluid) by observing the volume (amount), viscosity (thickness), number of sperm cells (microscopic count) and morphology of cells in a drop of semen sample... This test may assist couples who are trying to conceive or males who may experience some problems during ejaculation and have also performed a urine analysis to eliminate urinary tract infections... Hope this helps!
HiCrome UTI Agar, is a Chromogenic differential medium that is used to identify urinary pathogens. Enzymes that are produced by Enterobacteriaceae e.g. Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus change color or appear in different colors with the growth of bacteria on the medium. Reporting is normally done after a urine colony count using 1 μl (microliter) of urine is performed. There are some calculations that are used to confirm the extent of an infection. ******************************************* The Kirby Bauer Sensitivity Test is reported after the diameters of the zones of inhibition are measured to the nearest whole millimeter using a simple ruler, which is held on the back of the inverted plate. The sizes of the zones of inhibition are interpreted by referring to Tables (Zone Diameter Interpretative Standards and equivalent Minimum Inhibitory Concentration Breakpoints). The organisms are reported as either Susceptible, Intermediate, or Resistant to the antibiotics that have been tested.
You can inoculate a Single colony directly onto Muller Hinton agar or you can adjust the turbidity of Multiple colonies in McFarland to standardize the antibiotic sensitivity testing.
Yes ANY bacterial infection of the bloodstream can deposit into the kidneys and cause a UTI including infection of the bloodstream with salmonella typhi.
Hello! Yes you can use a single predominant colony on nutrient agar for AST.... But most labs require standardization of turbidity of 4 to 5 colonies in normal saline or nutrient broth medium for the test.
Hello 👋 Urine culture tests only detect infections caused by bacteria... They do not detect viruses..... There are several blood tests that detect antibodies that the body makes against HIV and other viral infections... This is because viruses grow in a different way from bacteria... So they are diagnosed using different techniques.... Hope this helps!
@@VitalifeMedLab I mean, is it possible for bacteria to grow on a medium, let’s say Nutrient agar, and when I do an antibiotic sensitivity test, the result of the antibiotic test appears negative?
@@A3i3i3 Okay... with the disc method there are only two possible outcomes... Hello! Thank you for your comment! Yes, you can use MacConkey agar for urine and stool samples to cultivate Gram #Negative bacteria which are differentiated based on their ability to ferment lactose... And yes, you can use nutrient agar for the growth of non-fastidious microorganisms in pus or sputum, such as Pseudomonas which produces extracellular pigmentation on nutrient agar.... There are certain protocols and procedures that are followed in the laboratory to test urine, stool, sputum and various other samples depending on the symptoms of the patient and the disease that is suspected.... For bacterial infections these include: macroscopic and microscopic examination of the sample... Followed by Gram staining and culture of the the samples and then biochemical identification tests and finally antibiotic sensitivity tests..... Various culture media of different composition support the growth of different microorganisms based on their specific nutritional requirements and subsequent biochemical identification tests...
