Excellent information. I had never read the Bible. In 2023, God put in my heart to read the Bible in one year. I started reading the Bible with a chronological plan I. mid- February and caught up the first 45 days by mid-March 2023. I was blessed to finish on December 31, 2023. I loved reading the Bible for the first time ever. Of course I did not understand everything I read, but I did not give up and I prayed. I find that for me, reading the Bible in one year made me forget what I read at the beginning and midway. So I decided to read the entire Bible in a shorter period of time for 2024. On January 1st, i began reading the Bible, in the order the books are instead of chronologically. I am reading the Bible under the 4-month plan and 18 days, and I love it. Like you said, we spend time watching movies, tv shows, sports and on social media. We have plenty of time to read God’s Word. This has been a beautiful blessing for me 🙏🏻

I have read the bible through a few times and struggled through all the peoples names and place names that I can not pronounce. This year i am using the Blue Letter Bible on my Kindle Fire and listening to the old testament and maybe I will listen to the entire New testament as well. Thank you for your video's. I have been thinking of buying the bible on CD so I can listen to it in the car or while I am doing whatever in the house.

I love listening! Especially listening while I’m reading. Helps soooooo much! And you can do it for free in most translations.

My wife says thanks again for a great video! She recently got a deal on a nice journaling Bible and is starting a daily reading schedule. It's so nice to have room to write and take notes! Glad to see you're feeling better too!

My pleasure! And I’m glad to. It was kinda a long December. But we’re going strong.

There is so much to this topic that it can be difficult to comment without the chance of being misunderstood. Personally, daily reading plans for me are counterproductive. It is all to easy to slip into that check-box mentality, pat on the back, rush through to finish what I should read for the day etc etc. I do however think it is very productive to log what I read to ensure that I do visit the more dusty sections in my bible. 😜…… What I personally find is that as long as I provide the “time slot”, and am open to the Holy Spirit’s leading, I end up reading what I need for that day. Some days I will read a LOT and be engaged. Other days I may only get a few verses in, and then be stopped in my tracks with a verse jumping off the page at me. I may end up being stopped there reading the same passage for days! My point is… as long as I have a dedicated time to read, and I am truly open, God will use it in the exact way I need for in that season.

Yeah, guiltless reading plan à la Everhard! 😊🙏📖
FYI the Book of Common Prayer has an early example of a yearly reading plan.😊

Believe it or not…I don’t have a book of common prayer. Thanks for mentioning that.

I do not own a hard copy. I use a free PDF file of a facsimile of a 1762 reprint of the 1662 edition, mostly for the Psalms. I print my favorites one at a time.@@ClaimingChristianity

I understand your point brother, but be careful comparing yourself to previous generations. "For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more." Lk 12:48. We are to rightly use what we have been blessed with, not to act as those who, in previous times, lacked.

I wrestle with this exact topic. What is the view and the approach in a world of information (much which isn’t good), where is the line? The big question for me is that if we are not filling our minds with scripture, what are we filling it with? We all know the answer, we are filling it with the world and not things of Heaven above. I suggest we err on the side of caution when approaching this. What has the Spirit laid on each of our hearts.

Yeah. If I’m not “in it” all the time. Things go bad quick.

Crack it open and go hard. That seems difficult now that I have a second kid, but if I'd stay off the playstation at night .....
