When someone only shows the positives of a certain brand and never any bad points you know they are a sell out. And then to try and look genuine they will say lots of bad points about other brands that they are not sponsored by. Not giving any names but a couple of horizon boot lickers spring to mind 😂😂

You did shape up but for the longest time you came off as a spoiled child whose schoolmates didn't give a shit about how expensive his NEO-GEO was, because they were busy playing Sega and Nintendo with each other.
I can name 20+ channels that put out reviews of a new RC on the same day within a few minutes of each other. 😂 It irks me so bad when I see comments of naive people praising them knowing darn well the RC is junk and all hype. When I go into the comments and mention something they erase my comment or the loyal subscribers go on my channel and leave nasty comments. I was called a Kevin Talbot boot licker once. I just say he's my daddy. lol

As long as the companies doesn't dictate the outcome of the video, and the review is fair, I fail to see the problem.
You must understand that every large channel here is run as a business, not a hobby. But the great thing about YT, is that you also can find a guy at his dinner table filming with his phone.
Yeah, the biggest ones are the RC plane people. They are sponsored and skirt the flaws and lousy performance. If you listen carefully, they give away the poor products by saying one thing in the unboxing, then use a different wording during the actual testing. This goes for ground vehicles and boats as well.
As campy as it sounds, I trust you, along with other UA-camrs that don't seem influenced by sponsorships or brand loyalty, but report on quality and value as you find it. Bring Claire back, too!

Tomley, I trust you and Talbot only in this hobby. You guys push every car to their limits and give us an honest review. Thank you for content and honesty.
Talbot's an iffy one for me, because what he does is beyond the scope of the typical RC hobbyist. Even Jang's durability montages were less abusive to the vehicles, because Jang tried to simulate crashes that you'd typically run into in a racing or normal bashing environment, while Talbot sends his cars over jumps that would be at home in a XXX-Main stunt video.
IMO this is a very trustworthy channel, and in my experience HPI has always been a solid company, though I haven't personally owned one in a long time.

Straight up, no bs, out of all the RC UA-camrs I watch I trust you and Discipline RC the most. You both tell it how it is and are very knowledgeable. Plus you're not afraid to admit you made a mistake. I'm the proud owner of an HNR Panther because of you guys. Oh, did you know it has police lights on it? They look awesome. It has hazards too. Anyway I'm only a minute in to the video when I started this comment. Have a good one. P.S. There's a free to sign up proxy service called my UK mail box. You get 2 addresses, 1 UK address and 1 in Germany. It's not cheap, but if you have to have it, an American can get stuff that's only available in the UK.
Never had a reason to distrust you and doubt that will change. One of my favourite channels along with Kevin Talbots. Raffle entered, make a perfect gift for my grandson to join me on our race days out.

Phil…yours and Kevin Talbots channel are THE main go-to ones for all of my RC purchases fullstop. I can honestly say that I’ve never doubted the effort you put in, the knowledge you provide, and the fairness of your tests and comparison videos and at the same time being humorous with it ! Before I purchased my FTX DR8 last year I’d never even heard of the company until I came across your channel. I now have a few FTX rc’s. IMO they along with HPI who let’s be honest have been around for quite some time I feel are decent and trustworthy companies that actually “give a s##t about their customers ! Shame a certain brand beginning with T and ending in S don’t !!!
When I want good, solid, honest information about a certain RC car or brand I tune in to you, Phil. And also Greg on RCDriver online. When I wanna see someone bash the piss out of something until it’s in pieces, I tune in to Kev Talbot. 😂

When I used to race in a well known series and we had controlled hand out silver can brushed motors the organisers would dyno them before handing them out as the tolerances were ridiculous. There could be thousands of rpm difference. Most of the time they would be down on power but you’d get the odd one that was ridiculously fast hence the organisers set a lower and higher rpm limit to try and make the racing competitive. Didn’t stop the cheaters fettling them 😂

In regards to youtube i. Trust you and Roadside Rc, all the others ive seen are either ovvious advertisements or folks who may mean well but simply arent expeerienced. In regards to brands, i dont trust any yet. I own Losi, Arrma, and Redcat and all have come with very obviois and easily avoidable flaws. Im grateful for your experience, expertise, humor and all round great attitude. Thanks for what you do!

Most UA-cam channels typically show something once, drop out and move on to the next topic or item. I appreciate that you make another attempt to show what this RC has to offer. So giving up is not an option that you prefer. 👌👌👌👍

It's really impressive that the Jumpshot MT V2 gets that kind of speed with that motor, and a testament to the design, the quality of the driveline of the vehicle and the low resistance of the ESC circuitry. As I've said before, all of these modern brushed RTRs actually use the same motor, the Johnson 6v RS550, a common motor for small cordless drills, so outside of any manufacturing defects or incorrect parts orders the motors should be more or less identical in power. Which means the Jumpshot MT V2 delivers that power better than its competition.

I only have ever bought 1 RC car! HPI WR8. It is fantastic! I see much more exspencive cars, but from my experence you will never use them as the RC cars get fk3d up even if you try and look after them. Sure ive broken the Front axle pin 3 times. 2 arms and 1 engine. and thats with me really trying to get the fun out of it and be real careful.... its totaly unavoidable to not damge RC car. Little stone on road, but of slippery mud that sends it shooting off to the kurb.
anyway. I TRUST HPI, i have 0 experience with other cars but from what i have learnt with the WR8 it has been very well thought out and user friendly!
Hobby is the key word. It seems like within RC Hobbies, you CAN trust companies to overcharge you for poor quality products.
You CAN expect to be underwhelmed.

I trust you, HarleyDesigns, SBC, DisciplineRC, 2FMRC, WestDesertWheeler, and DerbyCityRC. TheShop mini RC I like, haven't watched enough to know if I trust them entirely yet. Cape Crawlers seems like he pulls his punches on stuff that's not up to par a little, but he makes good videos. As far as companies Vanquish is the only one I trust to be straightforward about what their stuff is capable of. RedCat is doing their best to grow their trust and I applaud their efforts.

I wouldn't pay attention to the comments that are in your videos too much. Because everybody's got their own opinion and so on. And we both know that opinions are like butts. Everybody has one, some are bigger than others, and some even stink. I think you do an awesome job. And I think that you tell folks what you think about the products that you're being sent. You don't pull any punches if the product aint worth a you know what, then you say so. Keep making these videos, dude, I'm watching. I'll be here watching for as long as you're doing it. Sadly not trusting Bangood (sic), after a three month battle, to not get a completed order, a refund or any kind of resolution after paying for "shipping insurance" which was about as much use, as volcano insurance.
Big respect to to HPI for helping you out and to you for getting the other truck to make the point not sure why people get het up about top speed

can you imagine though if you're a guy who doesn't watch these videos and gets one and it's 16 mph out of the box with a bad motor and you're none the wiser? would suck donkey balls.
Automakers do this and if you complain they blame it on you and won't fix it under warranty. Luckily in the US they have lemon laws.
@@muskokamike127 it’s like any issue really.. unless anyone says something, HPI would not know. If it’s not picked up on the QA or sample testing, then they rely on the user.

@@Del350K4 In the US, if you have to take your car in (new) for the same prob 3x the dealer HAS to buy it back from you at the original selling price. NO exceptions. BY law.
Ford recently lost a class action lawsuit over their dual clutch transmission. They had to buy back EVERY focus, fusion, and fiesta sold between 2014 and 2019. 3 to 4 BILLION dollars.

I have complete faith and trust in Basherbodies and the crew at the top of the RC industry who are testing products and making the hobby the best it can be. Working hard to bring the newest parts to the tube for everyone to check out.
Anyone who fits in this category. Which today is a lot of people. Them people are the ones who will make the best changes today that today needs to bring back.

You, Kevin T, Thunder RC and a few others but I for sure prefer non sponsored videos. Im critical of RC stuff I buy and break right away which is why I am sure I wont ever be sponsored. LOL That being said the vast majority of my fleet is stuff you and Kev have suggested.

I thought it was a very informative video myself but I will say by the time I watch videos on a product I've already came to my own conclusions on the product
Tower Hobbies always did me right in the past. I mean it's been 20 years, but I went thru Tower Hobbies for support/parts/products. I never had any issues with anything they stocked or approved.

This industry is all names and finding those we can trust, does any company gamble their future as suggested? Surely not. I trust you Tomley , good honest reviews and there will be some issues occasionally, and HPI appear to want to fix this so as not to be known as untrustworthy and destroy their business. It's far too competitive a market and they are aware people share information like this, and it does the rounds quite quickly. Keep up the good work.

HPI was my very first hobby grade RC so while they were nostalgic for me, i could never bring myself to buy another one. after seeing Kevin's videos on how much of a shitshow the nitro trucks are it's only telling of the way they do things
I trust you, Talbot, and maybe one more. One I have questions about is Mark Santa Maria. Way too big of a Traxxas fan boy and constantly getting new stuff from them and never had anything negative to say. Literally every platform has something negative to say, if you aren't saying it it's because you're being bought. Lol.
You run a great channel Phil I totally trust you.
Given the circumstances, I trust you. Put it this way, you could've easily faked the speed by using your own motor, and no subscriber here would be any the wiser.

There are levels of trust. Some UA-cam "stars" have demonstrated through their reviews that they are "company men and women" who will promote a product with nothing but glowing praise, and I can trust those folks to give a biased review to promote their own self interests. I would give these folks a D level of trust. Mostly useless, but there might be some pertinent information
Then, there are UA-cam stars such as yourself, who provide non-biased reviews that have earned a higher level of truthful trustworthiness. I'd give these lovely folks an A level of trust. A good star for you all!

I like hpi stuff I got 2 wr8 2 micro rs4s I did have the sprint 2 as well and I all so have the maverick rx car with as you know its done by hpi let's hope to see some more grate releases from hpi 👍

I am very particular in not only which rc channels i trust, but also the reason why i watch them. There are 3 main channels that i value their opinions. Tomley, Gavin @ RcKicks, and Aaron @ Discipline Rc. They seem to tell it like it is instead of showing any bias. Another reason i may value another youtuber, is because they only run a specific class of rc car which gives them a vast amount of knowledge and experience to draw from. For example, if i want to more about mini crawlers, I'll watch CCXRC because thats pretty much all he does.
I think you really did well and gave HPI a second chance, which they deserved! They had a bit of bad luck (and bad QC, possibly) that they got portrayed poorly in your comparison video, it may or may not impact their sales of this model...
I think for all this UA-cam trust thing, we all need to keep in mind that it is our own responsibility when we mailorder an expensive toy car, all the video reviews are just for guidance.

Some people just don't have a clue. Even if you were sponsored by HPI, you'd still have given your honest opinion. Same goes for every other youtuber. If people were dishonest like that, they'd very quickly be found out and lose all their viewers
you know what i trust in rc, the tamiya quality and fun guarantee, are they cutting edge? maybe 20 years or so ago, are they the most complex and technical builds? maybe some are, the 2011 avante looks like a right old build.. pun intended, so, what does tamiya do better than anyone else? fun, fun and budget fun whilst scratching an itch for a build

I'm confused by HPI. Had a terrible Maverick Quantum by HPI but really like the look of the jumpshot. Hpi spares seem cheaper than Maverick spares strangely.

Not an overly trusting person so only place trust in a few Tubers but you are one of whose word is trustworthy Phil! Not so sure I trust a certain Yorkshire hobby shop's word though, we have history!
Well, my nearest RC hobby shop aren't even open when they say they are! I drove over there in the PM as the website said closing at 4. Sign on the door said closed from lunchtime! 🤦

I only deal with red cat racing. I have never ever had a problemwith any of their vehicles out of the box and I bought 9 of them so Farand I have another one on order.
I’ve unsubscribed to a few “Paid Outsourced Marketing Rep” UA-camrs as they hardly ever share anything constructive other than the occasional “for the next version I’d like to see a different battery tray”. For actual companies I feel that Traxxas, Associated/Element and Vanquish do more product testing with the actual produced product vs prototypes so their issues once delivered to customers are much less. Horizon stuff Axial/Losi etc are great on paper but once customers get them there’s typically issues. Examples: LMT axle housings, Lasernut motor mount, SCX10III clicking transmission to name a few. Redcat is similar. I will say that in terms of fixing the issues Redcat customer service is really good lately. I think Horizon Engineering is great but sending out half baked product due to not having a good control over their manufacturers is a problem. Traxxas has an advantage as does Kyosho and Tamiya given that they own their production. Associated through Thunder Tiger has control on there’s too. Horizon uses multiple manufacturers of which they have less control over the end product which I believe is the reason for their initial quality issues
I'd say I'm good enough judge of character and I trusted that information.
