  • Arguably, the West Perth driving test centre has the hardest criteria. Fasten your seat belt, and let's go for a spin! Steve explains what to expect in the driving assessment here in 2023. Often candidates say everything was tested, both parallel and bay reverse parking. The test went a lot longer than expected. Some state it was deliberate to find as many errors as possible. Congratulations on booking your test in West Perth! What to expect in your driving assessment here? Two major pedestrian crossings in the area, three locations with 30 km per hour and long roadworks on Roe Street. Bulwer and Fitzgerald Street traffic lights without a green arrow and much more.

    Hello, I love your videos and watched them diligently, hoping I would pass. But I still failed my driving test this morning at West Perth. Just sharing with those taking their test in West Perth. Be careful of the examiner Ash (white with tattoos; there’s also another Ash), he’s very grumpy in the morning.
    P.S. Had previous 2 PDAs at West Perth and the examiners were respectful and polite. Honestly never felt so talked down to and Ash made me feel so incompetent during the test by muttering (eg for god’s sake) words when I took a wrong turn etc.
    Hey people make mistakes and it’s ok! You don’t have to do that and make the candidate feel even worse. So basically, I failed based on Flow.
    YES, so if an examiner doesn’t say anything, just go STRAIGHT even if it leads to a Highway. (I followed my path and it says turn left). Nice examiners will reassure you to go straight, but the ones who hate their job won’t. They will also tell you to turn at the last minute so be prepared to change lanes last minute. Good ones already know where they want to head to and tell you 2 streets in advance. “You’re going to turn left on this street and also left again on the next one”. Good ones will also come out and fetch their candidate right on the dot while the ones who doesn’t want to be there in the morning will come out late.
    Ash caused such a bad terrible experience for me, I wish no one would experience having him as an examiner (maybe in the morning) or even as an instructor. No patience or whatsoever. Understandably, I wasn’t flawless in my driving on this test, more so the emotional damage has been done. And ps I told him English wasn’t my first language.
    Sharing my experience after having 3 PDAs at West Perth.

    I just drove and parked on roe in NB and it was crazy how tight the road there and i struggled doing a reverse parking on roe due to the the bike lanes narrowing the car lane, totally stupid road design.

      I am glad to hear that you practice in the area. Yeah, it is a bit challenging but repetition will make it a lot easier.

      some would say Kelmscott or Cannington

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  Рік тому +1

      Whichever center you go to, you must be familiar with the area and be well prepared. Mirrabooka and Cannington have the most experienced assessors and people who do tests there report they were treated with respect and it wasn't very strict criteria. The probem is they don't release many bookings in Mirrabooka. Also, as @TalismanT says in the comment here, some find Kelmscott and Cannington because of less congested traffic.
