Hey man, I think you may have discussed budget on a previous build but can’t remember. Can you give me a ballpark frame-off DIY cost for a ‘64 hardtop? No drivetrain but figure everything else pls. Thx
To restore a 64. Yourself it will cost about 20k in parts alone. That's rechrome bumpers. Interior kit. Moldings. Paint materials. Weather strip. Glass etc.
Your channel has become my son and my show to watch while we do breakfast. 😄 🤣 He's turning one and you got his attention. Looks like we gotta find a lowrider for him one day. Hahaha
Good work. If you remember and get the opportunity in one of your videos could you briefly show how all the bracing is situated underneath the floor and explain how you put them all in?
Hey bro, have you ever put a convertible 63 on a rotisserie without removing the windshield? Someone told me as long as I have the door bars in place (with I do, bought some from Eastwood) I should be good, but I'd rather go with what you think. Really hate to remove it if I don't have to. Thanks
i have a 62 rag i just picked up that has rusty floors also. Would you advise replacing the floors on the frame always, before taking it off the frame?
@@lonestarlows What about if the trunk and quarters are also rusty. I want to put on a rotisserie after I change the floor .Would you avoid a rotisserie all together and replace the trunk and quarters on the frame?
@@lonestarlows ok, rotisserie is out. Thanks With the frame in place, I assume I won't be able to put 1 piece floor in. May have to piece the floors. Any further advice, please let me know. Thanks
@@lonestarlows They are very hard to find. Classic Industries has them on their site but you purchase and are waitlisted. They have no idea when they will get them back. Nice find if you come across another one I will gladly pay a finders fee!
@@lonestarlows Not knocking your work , but why ruin a classic that is worth tons of money . Lowered cars and low riders are worthless . That is why I said do it to cars that are meant to be driven and junked . Real car enthusiasts Don't care about destroying New Lincolns , Hondas , Toyota, Pinto or as such because they will never be worth anything in 40 , 50 or 60 yrs from now . Worth more original than it ever will be modified.
@@dougbaker9473 that's your opinion. Some custom cars are selling for well over 300k Example 63 corvette. Different strokes for different folks. I can appreciate a stock car. I've had some. But thats not what I want.
@@lonestarlows I know what classic cars go for In stock original condition. All original 63 split window Vette is bringing big money . 💰 . I have never seen a lowrider bring anything close to 300 K in auction. Maybe more like 25 t0 40 k tops. Customs by famous people like the Barris Brothers , Gene Winfield and so on do bring big money.
Backyard hackin with lone star lows!. Floor pan is in. Frame is mocked up and car is on the rotisserie for a while! Enjoy

@@lonestarlows TY. less than what I imagined. Makes building vs buying more attractive.
Moving right along, nice work. I remember when I was at that stage on the 64, lots of hard work for sure.
Yeah, it's dirty work.
Love watching this! I'm too old, insufficiently skilled and funded to do this stuff, but I'm living the dream through you guys. Thanks !
Yessir. Thanks. Lots more to come. We got atleast 3 yrs worth of work with our own cars

Heh perfect. I have the videos set to post every Sunday 8am, as long as there is stuff to record!
Lots of work got done and it looks 1st Class
Very Nice :-)
Wish I had a "get it done crew"! You guys get shit done. So excited to watch another awesome build.
The key is punctuality. Being on time is a huge factor.
Another great video bro thanks for your efforts in shareing!
Verry nice project fun to work on. Working myself on a 64 olso raplcing the floor Pan at this time.
Gettin it done!!
You have a dope crew. You guys should leave the camera rolling and hit us with the time lapse. I wanna see the whole process.
Thanks. I originally wanted to time lapse the entire build. But didn't work out that way 😔
Hell yeah congrats ! On the rotisserie. Let it begin
Yeabuddy
Good video to watch while I sip on my coffee lol saludos from Cali
Sunday morning special.
@@lonestarlows that's right lol I'm gonna start on my LQ9 6.0, I got my block back from the machine shop. Doing a complete rebuild on it for the 64

Don't forget that there are reinforcements on the underside of a convertible frame.
Definitely following this!
Thanks for watching lots more work to come.
Fun stuff! 👍😎

If the car has solid rockers and floors I would feel good about it
what was the reason to use the 59 el camino frame?
Going to wrap it. 4 side and mold....convertible frame worth more and u don't really want to alter a stock 59 60 convertible frame...it already sold

Why didnt you use the original 60 frame w eng n trans?
Pretty sure I explained that in the video
What alternator is that? I’m trying to replace the original one on my 62 impala.
It's just a generic 1 wire
Where the hell did you find that floor pan?!?!? I have been looking for one for over a year now and haven't found one yet. Please let me know! Thanks.
I bought it local. And from what I've heard, they are hard to find?? Covid??

what's wrong with the cv frame
what do you mean?
Why didn't you use the convertible frame?
Going to wrap the hard top frame

4 sided reinforcement in steel.
why an elco frame ?
Same frame
@@lonestarlows nope
The frame I have is actually from a 4 door, not an elco.
Price on the 59/60 rag frame?
Thanks but I got someone scheduled to come get it tomorrow. If falls thru I will let you know
Please let me know thanks!
Hope u keep this one for yourself
Yes. Its my keeper. I've had everything I've wanted.
Such a shame you guys ruin cars by not keeping them original. Do that stuff to cars like Pintos , monza or Hondas. You know cars that are worthless!!
U should try it? See what kind of return you get on Your Honda and Pinto investment lol
