    I have been wanting one of these amps for a long time. Sounds great on this video. When one came into my local guitar store I jumped at the chance to try it out. I was expecting the same great sound and tone that I get from my old plug in Loudbox but I was very disappointed as to how tinny the new Mini Charge sounded. It sounded like it was being amplified through a tin soup can. No one in the store could figure out how to adjust the controls so it would sound better. My advice is to try it first before you buy it. Maybe the one I tried was a lemon.

    My Fender FA Series has a Fishman pickup so when I saw this at the store I thought it would be a good match. The unit was a rental and being sold as used, but I wasn't concerned. Well the battery isn't charging so now I have to inquire about the stores policy regarding the replacement of said battery. Wish me luck.

    Thanks for this review. I am considering the Fishman or the new Fender 100w “GO” for my daughter. She needs the amp as she has a quite singing voice. You mentioned this could be a challenge as the vocal side does not have seperate volume controls. Do you have any advice for me on this? Cheers..👍🇦🇺

    Hi. I'm thinking about buying a used Fishman. I viewed one the other day and I noticed a fairly Loud hiss when I turned the Master past 1 o clock.
    I just wondered if that's the same on yours.
    I know there may be a certain amount of hiss,but wondered if the amp I viewed had a problem?

    Thank's for the review mate but I still have a question, does the amp can be carry around for long street gigs like 5h-6h... is that batteries that we have to buy (external once such as duracel) or is it possible to charge it home and then bring it outside ? Thank's bro, nice playing too

      I think you just charge it and then play :)

    • @eekamoose
      @eekamoose 3 роки тому

      You charge it from the mains. Fishman say that you get 4 hours battery life at max. volume and 12 hours at average volume. I count on 4 hours in normal use but I haven't timed mine accurately.
      You can play it while it is charging. But when the battery runs flat you can't just pull a set of AA batteries out and put fresh ones in -- the battery is a sealed lead-acid one that can't be pulled out easily. If you need more battery life and do not have mains, one solution is to make your own input cable that matches the battery charger input socket and connect a 12 volt battery that can supply 5 amps continuously. The average car battery can do this. And remember that a lead-acid car battery is not designed to be run until it is flat. If you discharge it to below 50% capacity (the point where it shows below 12.2 V on a voltmeter) you start reducing its life. Below 25% capacity (12 V on the meter) and you are killing the battery.
      You do all this at your own risk. Install an in-line fuse whenever you take power from a battery. Shorting a car battery can have radical results...

      @@eekamoose the thing is that i'm not a big fan of fishman preamps, I think they compress the sound too much. My fav acoustic guitar amps so far are the Acus "one for street" or the Blackstar Sonnet 60... If only the sonnet was battery friendly it'd be a killa

    I've used this amp busking for a few years now. it's phenomenal. I've tried 4 or 5 other ones (rented) and always came back to this. tone quality is top notch the vocal reverb is my favourite verb of any rechargeable amps. it holds charge well if needed for an unplugged situation. it is portable and easy to carry. works as a regular power plug in amp great, too.
    it has a killer Chorus effect for the Instrument jack. I usually keep the knob around or just above the 'mild' setting
    imho you will get your money's worth if considering this amp

      Two questions. How long does the battery last and can an electric guitar be connected?

    • @ryanswiggs
      @ryanswiggs 2 роки тому +3

      @@marolesmes890 well first off depending on how loud you crank the volume will determine the overall battery length. I find putting the volume knob at 3 or 4 out of 10 is sufficient volume for my busking. that usually lasts a whole session no problem (2- 3 hours playtime). I haven't really had it die on me before unless I made the mistake of not checking if all the charging plugs were tight and it hadn't charged properly. my normal routine is to plug my fishman in to charging cable whe I get back from each busking sesh.
      as for running an electric guitar through it, it won't cause any harm but you may not get the same electric guitar sound you're used to. the fishman will work more like a PA speaker

      That should work just fine. I don’t own one so haven’t personally done it, but in this case the amp is actually the “mixer” and the di should work for powered speaker.

      You can get a replacement battery for 50 bucks. The problem is the box itself is junk. Aftertaking ne apart 3 timmes to replace a tweeter and two batteries it will not go back together anymore. Junk.

    I have had this amp about 3 years. I play it everyday and I busk with my classical guitar for a living everyday. It is a good sounding thing, better bass response than a Street Cube. Yet, in the end, I have to say it is poorly designed junk. I just finished my second battery replacement and can tell you that maintenance was not a priority for the designers, although batteries don't last forever. The problem is the box itself. While relacing batteries and tweeters are difficult for someone with large hands, it is doable. The box will not go back together anymore, so frustrating.

    I thought the voice lacked some volume so I wasn’t surprised when you confirmed that - although you’re also saying it’s not possible to set the gain separately, that’s a dealbreaker. Thanks for the review tho, it hasn’t really crossed my mind how important individual gain could be.

      There are indeed separate gains, but not separate “volumes” on each channel. Channel Gain and volume are the same thing as pre and post on some other amps, and generally more of a thing in full featured analog solid state and tube amps. I’ve owned several acoustic specific amps including a few fishman products and don’t believe any have had pre and post preamp gain/volume, definitely not something I’d expect on a compact amp like this. One thing many guitarists don’t realize, is you can actually turn the guitar gain *down* to compensate for quiet vocals ;)
