Love mine and now legal to take it out :)
My favourite part about this rifle is how much Poly is crying about it lmao
My guess is they know they can't call for it to be banned and that angers them, it fits to the exact letter of the law everything they asked for from new firearms in C21, if they call for it to be banned it would throw the entire reasoning behind the restrictions put in place by C21 down the drain, because they would then have to admit that it's either A: they go of asthetics and these compliant features dont actually matter to them. Or B: they want to ban all guns (a stance which despite their claims, the majority of Canadians don't support and they know that)
what does that even mean?
we think they won’t be happy until they ban all
@@Canadianfirearmreviews 100%
@@GordonShemway1 The current bills set into law over the past few years do not hold any water. The debate will be short. Nothing has decreased any serious activity in Canada. The ones who voted for these bills won't have a leg to stand on in parliament.
Despite our shitty gun laws right now, this still looks better than a California compliant AR. Bravo to Crusader Arms
Nice gun but the proprietary magazine only is a deal breaker for me
Unfortunately this is a requirement for any gun that is manufactured going forward
Technically no, they could have made a larger magazine well for a larger proprietary mag and then have someone else make an adaptor for ar mags so it still technically has a proprietary mag well that only takes 5 rounds
That would work but it would be very hard to keep it to the same size and specifications which could run into issues with mounting handguards similar to the raven and the magazine well would have to be beefier which would make it more bulky
yep this is just another point of canadian firearms owners capitulating.
so my buddy bought one and got it last week, we just took it out to the range yesterday. Disclaimer he didn't clean the gun or lube the gun out of the box but the thing would jam every single round, the most amount of consecutive shots he could get was 2. There was countless live rounds on the ground from all the jams it had, mostly double feed I think. My buddy and I will be going to the range this week to see if putting a different buffer spring from my raven will help or if it does anything at all, note that there doesn't seem to be an adjustable gas block from what my other buddy's seen. The reason were trying this is the charging handles seems fairly stiff so either its the buffer spring or the friction from the bolt but there seems to a problem with the mag as well. My buddy put roughly 160 rnds through the gun but had to clear jams oftenly.
We also didn’t clean or lube ours out of the box. There is not an adjustable gas block on the crypto
I have one and works flawlessly . maybe not loading mag good enough just a possibility for him.
Great video with full visuals of the rifle. I have to say I love the front pins holding the upper and lower receiver.
Thanks so much for the kind comment! We think it makes for a great fitment much better then your average two pin design in our opinion
@@Canadianfirearmreviews That is great to hear. This could be the move forward for a lot of wonderful new Canadian tools.
They should make a ".458 socom" mag for this gun.
They amended the law sadly. that's illegal now
So as an American, is this a regular AR? What’s the difference besides 5 round mags?
It takes all ar parts the upper and lower are proprietary so they are not compatible with other ar upper or lowers
any thoughts on the front takedown pins setup? pretty sold on buying a receiver set but idk about the two pins.
We think the front takedown pins are an improved design they tighten up a lot of the wobble you usually find in an ar, we are going to mention it when we release our full review. If you haven’t already take a look at our other videos for more information about the crypto
Great video! I heard there is an issue with the mags unseating themselves as both ends feed the same way. It would be good to know if that’s still an issues.
@garryt6356 thank you so much!! Yes we were experiencing the same issues. We will be releasing another video on this firearm soon
Game changer! 👍
We absolutely agree with you!!
Not if you're in 3 gun competitions.
is this due to the magazines?
@@stephanegiroux1545 One word: Dremel
Can't wait to get one!!
We think you will love it
Machining marks remind me of Norinco rifles, they need to do better at this price point
This is an earlier model we believe they have fixed it but we have to fairly and honestly review the one we have
Based on the other crusader guns like the gen 2 Templar many still have machining marks. Basically they don't do blemish models, they just throw them in with the good ones which isn't a good thing.
Meh, Bren 2 is coming out with a non restricted version by the summer and sterling arms is releasing their Mk3 that looks way better than this while also still being able to use crossmags.
its a dream gun for me... so pretty.
how well do stanag mags run once you dremel the groove?
I wish they came with a foward assist tho lol
We like the look of the forward assist too, hopefully in the future they might do something like that. We know they had said their main focus was on production for the moment so I’m not sure it will happen anytime soon
Eugene Stoner originally designed the AR15 without a forward assist. The forward assist serves no purpose. It is extra parts and machining for no benefit.
The last thing you want to do when you have a jam is hit the forward assist to jam it more in our opinion it just looks better but you are absolutely correct it has very little purpose
@@ExpatriotSilencers still cool idk looks weird without it but yea I would like the jam it further button
@@Canadianfirearmreviews If the round doesn't chamber properly, you aren't going to fix that problem with the fwd assist.
For a 2k rifle it should at least come with a case , the cz bren 2 also specially thats its over 3k
It comes with 6 magazines
🖤🔥
Is the Cocking Handle a standard AR-15 one?? 🧐
yes it is, we have a radian raptor on our receiver set
Holy! Six mags? At 30 bucks a mag thats a pretty good deal, you get around 180 bucks in value added! Definitely curious about this gun just from that alone!
yes 6 mags included they are charging 40/magazine for extras
When did yours arrive, and di you get any sort of shipping notification from Crusader?
No notifications for the receiver set except for an email asking for pal info. We bought the rifle from a gun shop that had it in stock
Where is mine....
The ceo gave a rough shipping time estimate in our other video, we bought ours at a shop
Does it come with Iron Sights?? 🤔
unfortunately it does not
can you make a video showing the barrel profile?
@thompson3762 yes we will include it in the review for you, and we will try to source more information about the barrel. We do know that it is 1/8 twist which we much prefer over the regular 1/7
hopefully mine ships this week, been impatiently waiting
We know the feeling, there was a shipping time estimate in our other video
No idea why you’d buy this junk. Waste of money. Should have saved for a reliable rifle that works with standard STANAG mags. Tavor x95, B&T APC, or Bren 2
We do like those platforms very much, each has its pros and cons but they are all different Tavor is a bullpup all proprietary about $3000, Apc is mostly proprietary and 4500+ and Bren 2 is a piston system also proprietary and 3000+
@@Canadianfirearmreviews some trade aways with non ar compatible parts but there’s still cheaper options that are proven reliable designs. I’d take the Kel-Tec SU16 or RDB which are cheaper than the others mentioned but still more reliable than Canadian made 180s. Type 81s if you’re willing to go for that platform. Again, cheaper options than this rifle and more reliable.
I can’t justify 2k on a rifle with so many drawbacks and when Pierre is elected next year and reverses the bans, these rifles will become worthless. Something to think about for those considering. Either save up or go for some of the alternative options mentioned. Stray away from this rifle. If you must go 180, go for Lockhart Raven, then Sterling Arms R18, then BCL Siberian. But I still don’t stand by those rifles for being worth the price. And will completely tell people outright not to buy this crypto model. But hey, if money is no object or of any consideration then do as you please.
We totally respect your opinion and kel tec is great with warranty claims the su16 has come along way but originally the back of them would blow out, the rdb is a different style firearms as it’s a bullpup but we absolutely love the design of the downward ejection wish they would have done the same with the Rfb, both of those are great options but very different from the crypto which allows people to use parts they may have laying around or highly reliable ones already on the market. Also we don’t see how the rifle would be useless if Pierre wins it may not be as desirable as other similar rifles but really they hold the same parts
Still patiently waiting for mine
2000 dollars, and it comes with and more than a 3k raven.
the $3k raven is a better build quality in every aspect
They both have pros and cons forsure we also have a raven with lots of rounds through it
Except Quality , and Stang mags but who cares when they give you 6 mags ....right?
@whoami We highly disagree, we recently just bought a Gen 3 upper for our raven and to our surprise it doesn’t fit the rifle. very frustrating to say the least!!
@@Canadianfirearmreviews well that is good to know. I’ll reprise that to Gen 2 Ravens are better quality in every aspect 😂
hopefully a video of it in action is coming soon! tons of videos on the gun but no videos of it actually being used by customers yet! reliability test is what we want!
yes we will be doing a video of it in action very soon as we are testing it with 1500 rounds for reliability similar to our other video with the receiver set
so they made 5rd mags look like 30 rounders lol
they made them double ended similar to cross magazines, we will go into more detail about it in our review
plus, I think they wanted them to be the same size as 30rd mags so they would still fit in chest rigs
yes exactly they wanted it to be cross compatible with all the equipment that is already out there. They knew people weren’t going to be happy about changing magazines but they also knew no one would change their entire kit to be able to use their proprietary magazines. We think they did the best they could considering the laws
The mags look cheapy made IMHO.
yes we aren’t overly satisfied with the magazines, we are releasing a video very shortly which will show some details
I think they know everyone will "convert" these to magpul and the mags they send are just to get it passed the dumb laws
A nicer rifle than the abominations I have to put up with in NY State to stay legal. Bull barrels and Thordsen stocks = one ugly and often impractical AR.
Risky investment these days in Canada
@paullavallee1631 why do you say that because ar may come back or because these may get banned?
This is such a pissoff. All c21 does is make it so that gun owners have to buy different mags for every one of their rifles.
So instead of buying 20 stanag mags and being able to use them in any 5.56 gun I own, I'll have to buy 20 mags for each gun, because you KNOW no one is going to want to standardize on someone else's magazine.
simple soution = dont buy this sHeet gun
Fit and finish looks awful. I guess you can’t expect much from a 2k cope AR that comes packaged in a bag and thrown into a box 😂 How about some foam padding maybe? I expect nothing less from Crusader.
Might have to buy a Ruger if you want foam packing.
could always get a raven
It does look a lot rougher than it should be
An absolute cope gun
what is a cope gun?
@@Canadianfirearmreviews Basically what it means, we must cope with the unfortunate laws we’re working with and so people buy these types of rifles to get as close to a modern sporting rifle as we can get. It’s a “cope gun”. No one is interested in this if laws weren’t so wacko.
Very nice but totally useless for 3 gun competitions, big paper weight plinking toy.😂
Buy a " Lberal Compliant gun" = Support Liberal Policies. Give your head a SHAKE AND go buy a Raven or something better.
Proprietary mag- deal breaker for me. I'll stick with the
Sterling R18 MK2. Never buy a gen 1 people. Crusader is just beta testing this gun on its customers.
The Crusader arms is using parts that have already been tested for many years. The mk2 has had some reliability issues, if anything we would suggest moving to the mk3 when it is released to the public at the end of this year or beginning of next year.
@@Canadianfirearmreviews i have well over 10,000 rds through my Sterling. No issues at all. It's rock solid
That is great news, we don’t own one but we do know they refined the piston system quite a bit on the mk3 due to issues with the mk2. We will be getting the mk3 and reviewing when it is released, we are excited to try it out!!
@@Canadianfirearmreviews i look forward to the review! 💥💥💥
Thanks!! We will be doing all the newest platforms as they become available
These rifles are butt ugly
@ABoltonjr Not sure why, looks just like an AR to us
