“Luke and Ellen smell the perfume of Neeeum, the new global sonic identity of F1, from Mike’s elbow” - ah yes, another completely normal Show of the Weekend 😂
My favorite part of Show of the Weekend is always Andy passing by awkwardly and pretending he didn't see whatever weird mess everyone's getting into lol
Andy staring solemnly at a whiteboard with the words "we are a gaming channel" written in red marker; expressionlessly, he uncaps a marker and underlines each word and then stares for a minute or so longer

My absolutely favorite people on this earth are those who are excited to ramble about the things they’re passionate, but even MORE excited to listen to others ramble on about the things they’re passionate about. Chef’s kiss. Best kind of humans. And I’m so thrilled to see many of them here in this comment section ^_^
Honestly the thing I'm having the most trouble getting over (out of a myriad of things I'm having trouble getting over) is the description of lavender as "thrilling". I adore the scent of lavender, but it's a *well-known soporific*
Luke slowly becoming a sim racing nerd something that I would never, EVER predict. I mean, I'm already surprised with all the F1 stuff, but iRacing?! Mike, you absolute legend.
This is the quintessential Show of the Weekend experience: relatable enthusiasm about a niche gaming-adjacent topic, a surprise appearance by an esoteric product, and a gentle but thorough roasting of said product for all its undeniable silliness.
As soon as Luke quoted Mike saying, "If you want to get REALLY crazy..." I was like, "... Are we about to talk about iRacing??" And they DID. AAND we got a whole 10 minutes of delicious vegetable nom noms! As someone who has hundreds of hours in iRacing myself and loves it to death, it was an absolute joy hearing Luke share his excitement over it. It can very easily get wildly expensive, but oh man is it SO much fun if you have the spare time to commit to it.
As the resident racing driver that lives in your comments I absolutely love hearing luke getting more and more into cars. Thanks for infecting more people Mike!
i do not care about cars in the slightest but i absolutely WILL watch every minute of this because i love watching them talk about things they love. I'm like a parent watching their children from a park bench. I just like seeing them enjoy themselves. Have fun, kids.
No okay I genuinely loved the I-Racing discussion! It’s something I’ve never heard about and probably never would have heard of, and I genuinely love hearing about a new thing I know nothing about!!!
Me too. The Internet is packed with these little communities who are all insulated from the rest by a shared love of the obscure thing. The game that comes to mind for me is Space Station 13/14. I saw a video of someone role-playing in a weird 2D space game and it turns out that there's a tiny dedicated community all playing this game religiously to the point of knowing all the deepest technical aspects of the games mechanics. I have a couple of hundred hours in SS13/14 now and I still cannot perform most tasks but the tight community makes the RP and chaos aspects much more fun because you just know the only people seeking out this experience are like minded and interested in it.
No interest in racing, but watching someone talk about something they're super into is always brilliant- and watching Mike get sprayed with Car Smell is even brilliant-er!

Luke, don't apologize for telling us about something you're obviously passionate about. It was amazing to hear of your exploits into the racing sim world! I hope you have more iracing progress to report soon.

Classic stuff, Luke defending his new passion while Ellen tries to keep interested, poor Mike being harassed by the kids again and a great Andy cameo. Perfection
Luke describing wanting to stay away from other drivers because they are trouble and might hit you is one of the main reasons why I switched to Rally as a virtual driver. No one who can crash into me and I can focus on being as fast as possible.
I'd never thought I'd see a video about this game my dad is a biiiig fan of. Now a lot of people have shared my experience of listening about it in excrutiating details ^^ I'm disappointed that the "F1 fragrances" are boring perfumes and not various mixes of motor oil and burning rubber, but "Neeeum" is a brilliant name
I really enjoyed this show of the weekend episode, especially the I racing part! I knew nothing about it, and Luke did a great job of telling a story and showing off what makes this niche of racing games unique and appealing!
Oddly enough this episode hits different. Never expected to share that feeling of shaving down lap times with oxtra, but this made my week. 1000s of laps around Road America in Wisconsin with my c7zo6 and yamaha r1m. Almost nothing is as satisfying as perfecting a corner and shaving time. Hint.... crashing your body into the ground isn't good for lap times. Love the content guys. Even last weeks mine skit had me laughing for an hr straight.
I'm pretty sure that there was a moment when Luke was waffling on about iRacing where you could see Ellen clearly thinking "Isn't there a new edition of Pokémon magazine we could be reviewing instead of this?".
Thanks to you guys and your charming commentary I actually got into game genres I never was really interested in, like horror or racing. It doesn't make me a fan but watching your videos full of passion, humor and fun makes me want to try out those games at least once.
Luke likes souls games, likes cars. Did Mike bit him or something? Edit: Luke nerding out about sim racing is high quality content. Please don't get discouraged from obscure topics like this. It's awesome.
Carbon Reign sound like one of those games that comes out not long after a new console is released in a half-hearted attempt to show that an obscure developer can handle the new tech.
Love how you all share you passions with each other and is Mike and racing Mike and Luke with soulsborne Ellen and KOA Jane and Andy with VTM such a beautiful thing
Mike has done his job well and recruited Luke into the cult of simulation. Now, he will ride with us forever, Shiny and Chrome! I laughed out loud when Luke said, Lynx might want to check the factory for a missing barrel of their product because a lot of times major companies license their products to other brands under another name. So, it probably is just Lynx under the F1 name - lol. Also, "Nyooom" is the proper sound you make to mimic cars racing by at high speed. Get it right, Lynx... Er, I mean, F1...
This is peak SOTW right here! Glad to see you're here again and absolutely love the chatty section about relevant games you've played recently. Just by SOTW I've found some gems amongst the other gems in the past years, I woudn't have found otherwise. Really like the opinions and experiences you've had with them too. Still the perfume section cracked me up nevertheless! :D
By far the best part of this video was how MARIO KART 64 music was in the background while they are talking about this other racing game. Great job including a nod to perhaps one of the most memorable racing games of all time. Now time for Mike to give his thoughts on what Mario Kart tracks to include in the next DLC wave...
please never apologize for talking about the game you've been playing in your own time before getting to the quiz segment...might even read some comments after that and a......let's call it art corner, perhaps? (I'm kidding, any sotwe in any format is a good thing and please don't overburden yourselves with more work, but I definitely would love more casual chat over any game--ellen talking about the onion hotel mobile game was still one of the sotwe classics imo, so.....yeah, any game!)
Always so excited for Show of The Weekend! I missed it so much the last two years. Luke just transported me to 2011 when my brother discovered iRacing. I've had these conversations before...
My main takeaway from this video up until now (having just learned about Neeeum) is that, Mike and Luke are all in for the Motorsport but are reasonable enough adults for giving not a single s*it for FIA shenanigans 😂
I think it speaks to how much I appreciate you that you kept me entertained throughout, despite my dislike for driving games and my conclusion that I’d rather walk to the bank, take out the price of that subscription service that’s apparently somehow made driving games even duller, and walk home while tearing the money to shreds than actually play it. So yeah, keep up the great work.
I like the cut after they called for Mike, because it's leaves room for the interpretation that it took quite a lot of haggling and convincing to get Mike to actually join them
Every single time I watch any of the Oxboxtra vids on cars, I'm reminded I need to buy one of the F1 games or maybe GT7. I know F1 22 has an assortment of bugs, but they also changed things from F1 21, so I'm not sure which to get. What I love with the fragrance section is, again, the Top Gear vibes that I so very much miss. When they'd fool around with various official merch from Porsche and Ferrari and so on (usually around Christmas). The interactions between them, and also between all you guys make me so happy. I had to cover my mouth at "woody", because people are still asleep and the laugh I let out was alarmingly loud. I love the surprise Andy appearance. His reactions to whatever they're doing are always great. Normal adult man and all that. Geraniums don't really smell like much though, right? Talking about more control when going faster reminds me of on an old Top Gear ep when Richard Hammond got to drive an F1 car and he was doing pretty badly, but the team was telling him he needed to go faster to have more control because of the tires needing to be warm. He was terrified to go faster, but he managed it in the end and it was easier to go faster than it was to go slower. The goal was just one complete lap of the track, I think, and he did it.
I'd recommend taking a look at Wreckfest, too. It's mainly Banger racing, but you can race pretty cleanly if you put your mind to it. Entertaining damage modelling and reasonably realistic handling, remember to move the brake balance rearward a peg if the understeer gets on your nerves, it improves handling even when you're not using the brakes.
@@toymachine2328 Doesn't look too bad, but it also depends on how heavily involved the multiplayer aspect is. I don't have a PS+ account and I have no need for one since I don't play games that actually require PS+ to be played, so if multiplayer is a big part of a game I usually don't get it.
@@SolaScientia The multiplayer is fun, but not necessary, and there's a Tournament mode with weekly challenges, I'm not sure how that's handled on console, I assume through the subscription service. The campaign is pretty strong on it's own, IMO, and once you unlock vehicles you can use them in custom races on the various tracks, choosing up to 23 A.I. competitors to race up to 50 laps.
That was fun. I'd like to see a sequel-maybe there is such a thing as dungeons and dragons inspired perfumes that could be sprayed on Ellen? Or video game inspired scents?
Loooove Show Of The Weekend!- & this one had me in absolute stitches!! 😂😂😂 Hands up: who else looked up 'Neeeum' right away?? Apologies if you said it guys - but disclaimer: the lovely little £1 sample set does come with a 4 quid shipping cost! Also speaking of subscriptions- a certain major online shopping site sells these fragrances at a lot less than £60!
Oh dang, poor Mike getting sprayed by fragrances for our entertainment, at least he got to talk about motorsport on Outside Xtra and luke and Ellen listened to him, whilst spraying him with the aforementioned fragrances (did I mention they are F1 themed). I honored to say Luke that you are now one of us, aka a motorsport enthusiast, I could not be more happy and/or proud. Thank you Mike for bringing Luke into the fold (and for allowing yourself to be sprayed by perfumes for it). Also, nice Mario Kart 64 menu music going on in the background, I like very much, such nostalgia. Big shoutout to Producer Jon for taking part in all this and putting this all together so neatly. Also, Andy with the cameo and the shade, damming for the fragrances of F1.
That was an absolute delight, per usual. Loved the lofty description of Mike giving Luke a crumb from his throne of racing gear. 😆 See you're all back from the video mines with a cartload of gems already.
Talking about Iracing and motorsport in general is the most delicious of desserts, a chocolatey serving that is to be savoured on the palate as your senses come alive with the thrill it holds.
I really love the racing videos you guys do (as someone who likes cars and likes when they go fast but is not actually into motorsports) ... I would love to see more. Also, this was an amazing video concept. Completely sent me.
Mike was the one who started Luke into Dark Souls, who then infected Ellen, and now even Andy is playing Elden Ring. And now Mike turned Luke into racing, with Luke seemingly dragging Ellen into it. Next thing you know, we get an Ellen's Racing Academy. Lol
As a Sim Racing Fanatic, I just want to say that seeing I racing on this channel was a very welcome suprise! Just dont ask how much I've spent on the platform in the last couple of years :D
Brilliant stuff guys, as always. Love your videos! Also, I don't think the person who came up with the descriptions for all those fragrances is getting paid nearly enough!
I'm astonished they got through this without mentioning that the music video for "We've got to try" (the Neeeum song) features a doggo being trained to drive an F1 car, then piloting a spaceship before going rogue and establishing a Dog Planet.

@@toymachine2328 I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the rec!
Hearing Luke talk about IRacing was really nice. As for those fragrances. I'll stick to soap and water thanks!
That was fun. I'd like to see a sequel-maybe there is such a thing as dungeons and dragons inspired perfumes that could be sprayed on Ellen? Or video game inspired scents?
Loooove Show Of The Weekend!- & this one had me in absolute stitches!! 😂😂😂
Hands up: who else looked up 'Neeeum' right away??
Apologies if you said it guys - but disclaimer: the lovely little £1 sample set does come with a 4 quid shipping cost!
Also speaking of subscriptions- a certain major online shopping site sells these fragrances at a lot less than £60!
Raises hand
I'd be down for an iRacing stream. OR... and hear me out here. Mike... Luke... endurance race stream. Am I fueling the fire? Yes. And I don't care.
The adult equivalent of Saturday morning cartoons. The best way to start my weekend! (Then with more cartoons) Thank you for your amazing content!
My friend came over nearish the end of the video and I had to convince her this channel/video is about video games.
Safe driving, keep track of the cars around you, remember gears for every turn... also _Mario Kart music_
Whenever they’ve said “Lynx Africa” in the past I’ve always thought it was “Link’s” like the game character. I think I like that better
F1, where rain is salty and lavender is thrilling
They've been doing this for how many years and they still come out with some bangers lol
Had a brilliant time watching this show of the weekend as always, bringing me joy on topics I didn't know I needed :)
Talking about Iracing and motorsport in general is the most delicious of desserts, a chocolatey serving that is to be savoured on the palate as your senses come alive with the thrill it holds.
I just got here and I REALLY hope there's a "no Mikes were harmed in the making of this video" somewhere in there
great video! I chuckled at least 6 times. Really brought my morning to a great start!
I really love the racing videos you guys do (as someone who likes cars and likes when they go fast but is not actually into motorsports) ... I would love to see more. Also, this was an amazing video concept. Completely sent me.
You both had some banger one-liners this week! Love it, as always.
Human testing perfumes on Mike. Hmm sounds about right.
Especially after Luke talked about iracing for so long.
Totally worth it.
I am haf way and loving it, this is so like the pre corona show of the weekend vibe. Games, nonsense, slight shenanigans. Nice!
Love how Mike has slowly indoctrinated Luke to all things cars/Motorsport. 🏎️
With the help of Jane's experimental subliminal messaging of course.😱
The sim racing rabbit hole claims another victim lol
No doubt
Mike was the one who started Luke into Dark Souls, who then infected Ellen, and now even Andy is playing Elden Ring.
And now Mike turned Luke into racing, with Luke seemingly dragging Ellen into it. Next thing you know, we get an Ellen's Racing Academy. Lol
Luke has now gone full simdad, thanks to Mike.
One of us! One of us! One of us!
As a Sim Racing Fanatic, I just want to say that seeing I racing on this channel was a very welcome suprise! Just dont ask how much I've spent on the platform in the last couple of years :D
ah, ten minutes of racing talk and ten minutes of sniffing Mike. it's a good one, folks
Brilliant stuff guys, as always. Love your videos! Also, I don't think the person who came up with the descriptions for all those fragrances is getting paid nearly enough!
Oxtra sniffs Mike. That's the show right there. No scratch all sniffs.
Tfw you find out you've been spraying yourself with a thrilling citrus woody unknowingly
in my head, royal Mike handing out gaming peripherics to peasants is a thing now
I'm astonished they got through this without mentioning that the music video for "We've got to try" (the Neeeum song) features a doggo being trained to drive an F1 car, then piloting a spaceship before going rogue and establishing a Dog Planet.
16:18 The rain isn't salty, the drivers get salty when it rains
Luke going down that racing game rabbit hole is my favorite character development of the year
