I was concerned an Ellen cat tier list would only have one tier.
Yeah I one hundred percent expected this to be 20 minutes of Ellen ranking every cat in the S tier.
I think Luke was concerned about this too, and that's why he chose some cats he knew Ellen would not find that great AND he made some comments that made Ellen go down a tier in some cases, especially in the beginning 🤣

I liked P5 so much I went straight into NG+ when I finished it.

Luke was weirded out by Yusuke and when Yusuke joined the party for good, Luke stopped playing.
Feel like Morgana was given a bad rap, he has a real cat form that you carry around in a backpack plus he purrs in car form
I would put in all the cats from the Yakuza 6 side mission where Kiryu is asked to rescue strays for a cat cafe. You have to find them in the environment by following their meows and then feed them to befriend them, following which the cafe in question adopts them. The best part is that you can visit them all in the cat cafe in Kamurocho where if you sit down, the ones nearest will come up to Kiryu and leap up into his lap and sit there for quite some time!

I thought the best part was when you kept on calling them from Hiroshima to have them take a 10 hour drive to pick up whatever stray you just befriended there too.

@@shaun2566 Yeah, but I remember it being quite watered down compared to 6. You couldn't feed the cats out in the world. And in the Part-time Hero office, you couldn't interact with the cats like you could in the cafe in 6 (or if there was a way to do that, then I never found it).

Yeah, Morgana was sabotaged by not showing that, and at the same time, had they actually played the game and had to listen to him through the whole game he would probably fall down the list again.

The best part about the Origins cats is when you pet them more come because they want pets.

I'm glad Luke called out how weird that cut scene was. My wife was watching me play this game and it was generally fairly grounded, but then there's this horrifying moment where the worst case scenario happens and ultimate destruction is breaking out and it's tremendously affecting and then they show a sad anime cat and she was like "what the fuck? Why is there a cartoon cat? Why aren't they explaining that? You can't do that!"
She had a hard time taking the game seriously after that because she was expecting Mickey Mouse to show up at any time.
Yeah it was a weird choice. I mean I absolutely get why they did it(they wanted to throw in as much fan service as they could. I'm surprised they didn't cut to Vincent in his coffin at one point), but like...it didn't need to be done. I mean, having played the original and knowing WHO Cait Sith is, you could rationalize it by "Oh, Reeve obviously had access to the tech to control Cait Sith and it has been shown thay he cares about Midgar and is against dropping the plate so it would make sense that he'd need to see it for himself" but when you're at the point of doing THAT much hard rationalization just to make a scene make sense, you're probably better off just cutting it.
Makes me wonder if the Sith of Star Wars were named after the Sith of Celtic myth?

In the first Evil Within game, one of the DLC campaigns is called the assignment where you play as Kidman. Whenever she stops to save her game, a black cat with a red ribbon appears that Kidman can pet and stroke. This same cat appears in Sebastian's safehouse in the second game.

OK, ultimate SOTWend follow-up to this episode, and it should be an actual surprise, like Luke should not tell Ellen this is coming, but just bring a real kitten onto the set, and we just spend 20 minutes watching Ellen melt under it.

The cat in Stray doesn't have an official name, but is inspired by Murtaugh, the cat owned by the founders of BlueTwelve. The fitting thing is Murtaugh was found as a stray.
I just remembered a great anime called "my roommates is a cat" and I feel Ellen would love it. Because even as a pretty big and usually "pissed off" looking guy I basically react to cats the same way as ellen. I'm allergic but still go to my friend's place for the cats
This list will definitely need to be revisited when 'Little Kitty, Big City' comes out \^^/

My favorite thing about the old FF games was how you can rename your whole party. I've played FF7 about a dozen times and I don't think I ever used the name Cait SIth. I always named him Dim Sum, cause his mount looked like a dumpling to me.
There's the cat from Beyond Good and Evil, a member of the resistance, she's pretty cool. Also, you forgot one of the best cats, Kippers!

Nibbles from Cyberpunk is a definite candidate for ranking. Possibly Snickerdoodle from Saints Row 2022, plus I'd love to see a take on Assassin's Creed cats, the ones in Valhalla look super weird but are based on a historic breed apparently?

I think the inevitable outcome is an Ellen cat gaming focussed spin-off channel. With a dedicated producer, waterproof VR headsets and specialist ultrasonic microphones capable of capturing her higher frequency squeeing.

My personal fave video game cat is Ser Pounce-a-Lot, Anders' cat from Dragon Age. He's an orange tabby kitten you find in the garden during the Awakening DLC and Anders keeps him in his backpack while going on adventures. He has an ability to revive downed party members, will meow in conversation with Anders, apparently throws paws with darkspawn, and his Heroes of Dragon Age art has him wearing a little coat with pouches that looks like Anders' DA2 coat. I adore that cat so much. He's so good.
After two spider lists, I have no doubt that ellen had better time doing this.
Also I was hoping that the new grass starter from scarlet and violet will be there, but I get a strong feeling that it will be in a pretty decent place.

The fact that Dusty from Gravity Rush was not included is an absolute crime and Luke needs to spend some time in purr-gato-ry to make up for it!
I know there are so many more cats and you could never include them all, but I was kind of hoping for the cat skins from the game Smite, not just Bastet herself, but more cutest is I think the two skins for Bacchus, Sushi Neko and Sashimi Neko. Sushi Neko especially he's a tuxedo cat.

More video game cats: The Nioh series has at least 4; in Nioh, you have Nekomata (an actual cat), White Tiger (more of a tiger than a cat, but we take those?), and Nue (Which, well… certainly also more of a tiger than a cat…), in Nioh 2 you have all of the above, but also probable S tier inhabitant, the scampuss.
Alright, I can understand you didn't include the Cheshire Cat from American McGee's Alice in Wonderland/Alice Madness Returns. Honestly, I can. But why on earth didn't you include Hellebore (from Strange Horticulture)? Such luxurious, delightful and calming purring (play with headphones!!!) I demand a recount!

Kind of disappointed that there were no Twilight Princess cats on the list. There are a few in that game, and they are all good. And you can speak to them when you're a wolf. And some of them formed a cat gang. It's wonderful.

What about Mae from Night in the Woods? She makes the theme of self-destruction and loss palatable by being ludicrously cute.
I suspected that Cait's appearance in the remake was meant to show that their controller was already using them THIS early in the story and that they lost the ability to stand the madness of Shin-Ra much sooner than before. Possibly implying that they won't do their most infamous act this time around?
Monster Hunter's Palicos are definitely the best cats, adorable and useful.

So this is basically like, the polar opposite of the spider videos, so you have to do another one to balance it out :D.
Tried to think of other cats and currently the only ones I can come up with are the ones from Minecraft (when wild they are ocelots but if you tame them with fish they will turn into a cat that is randomly either ginger, grey, or black-and-white). Still pretty cute, though. And they'll deliberately go and sit on beds, or on chests (preventing you from opening them) :D.
Or on *your* chest while you're sleeping.
Dont forget the cats from Assassins Creed Origins! Ellen went around forever just looking for cats to pet.

Not from a videogame, but I’d put Links, the cat version of the famously annoying Microsoft paperclip, in at least the A tier. Somehow being continually asked if you need help was so much less obnoxious when it came from a non-anthropomorphic cat with adorable resting animations.

Having played the original FF7, it feels wrong having Cait Sith so high among better cats.
Other than that I think Stray should be alone in S and the rest bumped down to A, but perfectly understand why the cuteness of those cats would make it a difficult choice to make

There are some other Animal Crossing cats that could be on the list. I love Kabuki, and Ankha is pretty good too. I think one not on the list that I was surprised not to see is the cat Ellen petted in Cyberpunk 2077.
Ellen talks about cats the same way that I talk about anything mouse/rat shaped. And yes, I want you all to know that they each have ears and they are all cute, but it is also necessary to say it again EACH TIME YOU SEE THEM.
(Oh god and their tails the way they curl around things sometimes but other times they are just dragged behind the mouse-shape, and what about the tiny hands with the claws, and the way they turn the food in their hands when they eat to maximise the gnawing angle, and WHEN THEY CLEAN THEIR NOSES first slowly then just suddenly scrubbing away, and ...)
