Classical Realism is what the art world needs more of.

I have my reservations where a “profound zenith” comes around…

I had the pleasure of looking closely at some of the paintings that illustrate the video, in a monographic exhibition, the first after his death, held at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid in 2011.
I admire his precision in drawing and his mastery as a set designer.

Not only is the drawing exquisite but human beings were beautiful back then. Look around now

i think there is still many beautiful people but artists have been making ugly art due to subversive forces in the art industry

What a great video! Thank you for it. Gerome has been my "hero" or role model for years, not as an artist so much -- although I agree that he was one of the great artists, for sure -- but rather as a teacher. I am surprised that you showed so many images that I have never seen, neither online nor in books. Fantastic! I'd love to ask you about some of them if you would not mind. Either way, I'll look forward to seeing more excellent offerings from Gammell Lack Institute!

The legacy of Gerome continues to this day as painters are being trained in the style of Classical Realism. How about a video highlighting remarkable living artists today who were trained following Gerome's lineage.

Gerome is a little too tight for my liking, but I respect his work so much. Love the painting " the black bard". His plates are one of the most helpful things I think a new artist can do.

Hello! English is not my mother tongue. Could you explain what you mean with "tight drawing" please?

@Archetype73 I mean for me, thayer is exactly what I like. His painting " winged figure" at the chicago Art Museum is definitely my favorite painting that I've seen in person.

Late Italian Renaissance drawing was never surpassed.
This 19thC French work was way too stiff & formulaic.
