"Sideways" did nothing to curb my appreciation of Merlot. I lean towards Cab, but a great Merlot can be fantastic!

I actually pick Merlot over Cabernet Sauvignon sometimes.

Funnily enough, when I first started drinking wine and knew nothing about it (not like I know that much more now with how vast the wine world is, hah! ) , I only had Merlot. Perhaps because of that, it's still my favorite.

I couldn’t tell the difference between a Cabernet and a Merlot and I bet most people couldn’t. It’s a perfectly good grape.

I’m sitting here twisted on two grlassss of Merlot. Potent stuff. I’d never dare drive on this. I didn’t realize wine was this potent

Merlot is a great grape to introduce Wine. Cabernet Sauvignon's high tannins scared me at first, took a while to get used to it.

When you dig deep into the themes of Sideways, you realize that nothing is wrong with Merlot, the Wine. It's just that Miles's character was represented as Pinot Noir, and his ex-wife was Merlot (which is why he hated it.) Despite both being red wines, the two are/were very different people/wines and ended up not being compatible for each other.

Try eating the Merlot grapes if you can, they are delicious. We have some incredible ones in Albania.

I really appreciate the support for merlot. I am always trying to get friends to embrace both pinot noir and merlot. I will definitely send this video to them. On a completely different note, I am concerned that you are shooting the video by your front door🤔. Are you attempting to run off with the merlot?

Don't spill the beans, haha ! While you say that, I am having an everyday right bank Bordeaux from Blaye _(2014 Château Clairac, though the 2010 was much better, I think 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon)_ . I _love_ Merlot in that combination if it's done right, and like with the variety Primitivo, I am profiting from the ignorance of the simpletons via cheap offers. Maybe it's time to make all my favorites unpopular and/or politically incorrect.

Personally I love the ripe plum notes of merlot and for me those show at both new and aged/older merlots.

Would you recommend eating the grapes that make up these wines? Will that help understand the wine any better? Is it even possible to buy these grapes online somewhere? Thanks!

Merlot red is one of my favs that I do like. I like dry but much prefer fruiter wines. Im not a big drinker myself but like an ocassional one. Then again im not a p**** head. Im sensible I know my limit. I dont like p**** heads due to past experiences id rather keep away from it myself. Causes more damage to anyones health! Not worth putting yourself at risk it really isnt. Im probably more mature about it when drink is involved. Someone needs to pick up the pieces and that would be me. Always is. 😕
But Merlot is good, tastes good for a nice cosy night in with your loved one watching films together, curled up together on sofa, nice cheese platter and candles. Perfect for me. Id rather that. 🥰

Love the Godzilla like Merlots of the New World. Pahlmeyer, Robert Foley, Leonetti. They can easily be mistaken for Cabernet Sauvignon….💕❤🍷

I was always under the impression that due to its lower acidity and lower tannin that Merlot wasn’t generally an age worthy wine. Interesting
