What an amazing piece of music! Utterly unique and so atmospheric! Reminds me of wide open, desolate places, shadows and strangeness... The organ reminds me of the dancing ghosts in "Carnival of Souls", the desolate, deserted Lakeside Amusement Arcades.
I'm in love, when came out this album, and this song it inspired and emotive more now. I cried too many times, silently, in that time. In love happens.
Happy to revisit this lovely, dark, witchy song. AND. I could *really* do without the pin-up silhouettes. Tanya was never much about satisfying the male gaze.
This definitely about putting a curse on someone, but Wiccans don’t do that-Black witches (as in they worship the Morning Star) do that, as do some Voodoo priestesses & priests. But every man should remember that night is witches’ time. Hecate rules the moon, yet we have to follow the man’s or Warlick’s calendar. However, lore tells us that the presence of the Antichrist brings a blood moon & murders of crows.
It's "Hold your hands so tightly--horses--hold them, hold them kindly." As in when you want someone to slow down or stop doing something, the old expression was, "Kindly hold your horses". Rein themselves in.
i say this to my 15 year old daughter every now and again ... its part of my vocabulary but id almost forgotten where it came from ... ah early 90s, 4AD ...
those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end :) and these days i really find it hard to find such pure music.
This was my favorite Belly song. I saw them do this live and it was phenomenal!
You are one of the lucky few
