Hey I was at that show! I was just back in Portland for the 1st time since then and looked for Granny Killian's, but alas, it is long gone.
Anyway, you should definitely check out the Hips' music; they have a bunch of albums and side projects, etc. and it's all good!

I saw these guys maybe 20 years ago at Garnny Killems (spelling?) in Portland Maine. I never thought to do a UA-cam search for them until now. You guys are as cool as I (almost) remembered - Nice solos, melodies, harmonies... Very nice.

@StefanMarin7 Not really an Idea, but rather story telling... Tim's talking about when The Hips (and everyone) received no support for some time and then got cut from American Recordings back in the mid/late 90's. I first heard this song before it's release live sometime in 98 and I'm pretty sure there were a few hits taken at that show to ease the pain. ;-)

@thebobbypond Because for the most part the Grammy's are a joke; a maketing tool for what's left of the draconian music industry. If the Grammy's meant anything the Hips and several other bands hardly anyone has heard of would rule them. Long live real music!

I suppose you are an accomplished musician? As you noted in part; the Grammys are a popularity contest my friend. How many did Led Zeppelin win while active? NONE!!! Is all they did shit too? For the most part teenage record sales determine grammy nods; and that's true now more than ever. The Grammys (like most awards events) are little more than a promotional tool for the industry. Allow me to ask you a question... Is Neil Young talented? Beach Boys? Greatful Dead? Wilco? Johnny Cash?
