- Super Bowl champion and "Ballers" writer Rashard Mendenhall recently joined VladTV for the first time. The interview started with congratulatory remarks about Mendenhall’s dual-career path, which, according to Vlad, most professional athletes often struggle with. Mendenhall responded that his mother played a significant role in ensuring he did not merely focus on sports but on being well-rounded. He grew up in Skokie, Illinois, and Southside Chicago with his mom and siblings, although his parents divorced when he was in the 5th grade. Mendenhall’s exceptional athletic ability was recognized by his kindergarten teacher who made a big deal of bringing it to his mom’s attention. When he eventually started playing Little League football, he was already viewed by his peers as a great player. This continued into high school, where he became the best football recruit in the state of Illinois. Later in the interview, the former Steelers player broke down the financial aspects of his career, as well as the various injuries he suffered. In high school, I used to compete against him and his brother in Track and Field. Both were great athletes, respectful and down to earth. Very proud of this man and his accomplishments!

I actually would like to hear a little more detail and frankness in some areas. He's being guarded as he tells his stories, I believe. And that's cool.
Props to him for not letting the NFL chew him up and spit him out when it was done with him. He walked away on his own terms.

So he's calling Ben a racist, but he can't give any specific examples of how he's a racist? That delegitimizes everything about him. If you gonna make that accusation, and play the card, make sure it's real and you got witnesses because that is a serious charge.

I agree w Mendenhall for most things. But bad behavior is bad behavior. Making excuses for AB is ridiculous. He is blindly loyal to AB which is commendable. For the rest of us who work with no fanfare and struggle to make ends meet , everything he says is bullshit. As middlclass regular folks this is how we are treated at our workplace. Stop feeling bad for out of touch athletes who wonder why the world does not revolve around him. If I or we do not perform at work we are sent packing as well.I'm not some hater but regular folks go through this daily and don't have fans and a bank account to fall back on.
