The Mad Messiah. He truly earned that title. I remember watching this, and how Boothe's performance actually scared me (I was a child when I saw this).
This movie / miniseries was incredible in its detail. Consider that this was only 2 years after that fateful day, but the movie depicts events pretty accurately and without any particular bias. Jones life is simply show for what it was, and Boothe is mesmerising both in being scary but also believable. And what a supporting cast? Ned Beaty, LeVar Burton, James Earl Jones. What few things the movie does change up I can accept because the titular tragedy was still so fresh in the minds of American public consciousness at the time. Not like today, where the phrase "drinking the kool aid" is thrown around almost glibly, with no real understanding of the tragedy that happened that November day in Guyana.
