The door opening animation in RE2 where the zombies are limping toward you and you can't react to it, you can only panic until you regain control of the character. Seriously freaked me out.
Another honorable mention should be the blackjack tape from RE7 banned footage, there’s just something terrifying about Hoffman progressively getting more and more hopeless with lucas enjoying every second of it. Capcom really should’ve done more with Lucas, he could’ve been a terrifying villain but they just killed him off in the not a hero dlc.
I will NEVER forget the dog bursting through the window in RE1. I was playing the game with my cousins at around 7-8 years old. I still remember all of us screaming in unison. It was terrifying. Great video, Saki 👏
Thanks man. The first time I saw it was when my sister's boyfriend at the time played it, and when the dog burst through, he jumped up and stopped the console.
The scariest moment for me was honestly the Margaret Baker fight itself, the amount of times I'd walk all over the building looking for her only to pop up behind me scared the shit outta me more times than I care to admit
Uuu I love that Tales From The Crypt episode. That ending was pretty haunting. You'd think they off'ed the actor and tossed his body out the window. Though I still think Three's A Crowd is the most brutal when it comes to the ending.
I can’t believe the second floor of the old house wasn’t on here. That whole section was like RE7’s mini-Beneviento. It’s so tense with that too-quiet feeling broken by the piano and then you look to find no one, then the maze-like kid’s area where the game is showing-not-telling you what’s going on with this mysterious new force and when she turned off my light and whispered “Stay away” for the first time, my heart hit the floor. That whole section until you run to safety is super scary. Second place is going down the stairs after that horrible knocking and then you hear Mia breathing in a broken pattern.
5:23 did you know it was originally going to be a severed head falling to the floor if you highten the aspect ratio you can see the head model is still there.
OG RE4 - the short sequence when you go back through the village with Ashley at night. It’s damn near perfect at setting the tone for the rest of the game’s horror moments. I wouldn’t say it was a difficult segment at all, but it was unnerving to realize that a Ganado had actually been hiding right behind in the storm, only finally becoming aware when Ashley would call for help or a pair of orange eyes lit up in front of me. That really got under my skin. It’s a real standout moment for those reasons alone, but the terrifying track that accompanies it - Echo in the Night”, solidifies its place in being amongst my favorite moments in the series.
Honestly, scariest moment for me was Rebecca Chambers first zombie encounter on the train when she turns off the mobile radio and it stands up with more of them blocking an exit
I wouldnt say scariest moment in any game, but scariest moment of RE4 for me was that hedge maze with the dogs. Regardless of how many dogs there are or whether they've spawned in yet, you have to hear the dogs the whole time youre in the maze looking for key items, knowing they can show up anywhere, at anytime, and may already be in the maze hunting you like the damn Minotaur.
This video is a certified banger, no doubt. Woulda liked an honourable for the Crimson Heads, perhaps Lisa, but I'll nod in agreement with the Presidents, generally. Good video, I give you 95 out of 100 resident evils
Hey Saki, I know you were probably joking when DT said it, but I for one would still be very interested in seeing the Presidents rank the characters of Silent Hill. Either way good to see you back. :)
The Moment BEFORE Nemesis came through the window. you are on top of the stairs and hear glass shadder. and then the suspense music kicks in. i didnt dare to go down those stairs. And Resident Evil 4. After entering the House and killing the first villager. The cutscene when you hear the madness going on outside and the police car getting pushed off the cliff by a truck. you only hear it but that moment was terrifying
The factor that really made Sherry's RE2R section stand out was the realism. Irons isn't a fictional monster. He's just an asshole who murders and tortures women.
The one that scared me the most is Rachel and nemesis. Nemesis in the original and the remake is terrifying. The growling. The noises. The way he kills you pilot. And the fact he always stalking you. Then there’s Rachel and honestly I felt bad. She seems like interesting character before was consumed by the parasite.
The scariest for me was the Licker in the OG RE2 interrogation room. I was literally thinking "this game isn't TOO scary" and BAM . the loudest glass shattering I have heard since.
5:41 hey so like.. i played this section super late at night with nothing but my headphones connected to the laptop at super loud volume it was a challenge to not make too much noise but also not piss myself. this was genuinely evil
One of the scariest moments for me was the village holdout in OG4. I played that when I was 10 and Dr. Salvador made me brown my pants. I'll never forget getting away from the mob just to turn the corner and be literal inches from him
Never played the og cause I just don't like tank controls But the I do agree the og was iconic But I played the remake And I did watch someone play re4 remake back when it first came out due to me not having a series x or s But once I got one I immediately played it And even though I knew what to expect That village holdout was still terrifying as hell
9:16 oh god that game gave me nightmares as a kid and I forced myself to play it again and beat it on one of the endings. Fantastic game can’t wait for the rerelease
Licker jumping through the interrogation room mirror was the one for me. I also used it to scare the crap out of a friend who came over to play the game and obviously I didn't tell him that would happen, so when he got into the room, I was like "oh hell yes, it's gonna happen" and sure enough, he jumped like ten feet in the air. xD And the regenerators, hell yes! That creepy breathing, the teeth, nightmare fuel. Also, the Ivys from the RE2 remake were similarly terrifying, the fact that if you don't have defensive weapons if you get grabbed, you're dead added another layer of stress to dealing with them. xD LMAO Steve trying to make out with sleeping Claire being on the list -wholeheartedly agree!
One of the scariest moments for me was when I wanted to do a quick save in the streets of Raccoon City in RE3. There was a tiny broom closet sized save room that I wanted to use, so I walked in and waited for the quick load screen animation to end and what greeted me was Nemesis, a polygon behind Jill at the door. 😭😭😭😭😭 He didn't move, I didn't move (mostly from shock😂). After about 5-10 mins of collecting myself in the pause menu, I 180 turned around and (thankfully) exited the room and sprinted out of the downtown area of Raccoon, never looking back!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
When I play the original RE2 the first time when I playing as Leon and was running by the the windows and the zombie arms tried to grab me, that made me jump, also when I was played RE1 remake for the first time and I didn't expect the zombies to trun into crimson heads, they're one of the most terrifying Resident Evil enemies in my opinion, they remind me of the zombies from 28 days later.
I love the list, and I understand why the baby is number 2 on the list because the og and remake resident evil 1 first zombie encounter was a classic, and it let you know you got a long game play when you kill zombie and monster. I 100% agree on the list.
You know this might just be me but RE5 sludge boss was a pretty tense enemy that didn't die instantly from gunfire and could go through chain link fences instantly.
The Regenerators definitely belong on this list! Their labored breathing that sounds like laughter stays with you even when they're not on screen. Plus, the way they look like they're really enjoying sinking their teeth into you if you get caught by them? Nightmare inducing. Oven Man also deserves an honorable mention. The game doesn't really utilize jump scares, so this one is super effective.
My number 1 spot defenetly goes to the oozes from Revelations 1. The way they move, the sounds they make and everything about them is so scary to me. And they still scare me so much I can't even replay the game without feeling like I'm about to get a heart attack.
Ashamed it took me so long to get to this holidays been wild this year but that was great! Im pretty happy with this list mine will always be the interrogation room but if i had to pick a number 1 id agree with joe. That part in 8 can f right off
I agree with this list. Some of my scariest are from OG 2, 4, and 4 remake. For OG 2, it was seeing Birkin for the first time gave me nightmares. For OG 4, it was the dogs in the maze, 4 remake it was both Verdugo and the regeneradors. For me, the best jumpscares are the ones you're expecting and still manage to scare ya good.
Here's my list. 10. Haos from RE6. This thing was incomplete & hatched prematurely, but it was a BEAST. It has some of the longest physical reach in the series with its stretchy limbs. It's insanely durable & can burn through your ammo reserves. The fucker can regenerate in the 3rd phase & loop you unless piers electrocutes it while in a cocoon. One of the few times in RE6 where I felt aimless & feeble on the first playthrough. 9. RE7's dinner scene. You're tied up to a chair and are force feed human innards. It also leads into the bulk of what makes RE7 such a banger videogame. 8. Re2make's Mr.X introduction. He's been HEAVILY buffed. He follows you around much of the RPD & his audible footsteps add so much more tension. Shooting a gun also attracts his attention. 7. Re4's regenerador. It's a great spook moment for first timers, as it has a TON of hp (even though more seasoned players can shoot a leg off, bait out the jumping bite, then knife it in the back until it dies). 6. The Mold (megamycete). This makes the entirety of RE7 & RE8 more uniquely terrifying (more so RE7). Molded can seemingly spawn out of any surface where the mold is (the entire estate). Its existence also makes the environment look extra filthy, alien, & uncomfortable. 5. The Licker jump scare in RE2 OG. It catches you by surprise because NO ONE expected it. 4. Nemesis crashing through the RPD window in OG RE3. This moment pretty much kickstarts the evolution of the 'pursuer' type of creature & shows why a whole game is named after him. 3. Jack Baker & Marguerite Baker. Jake adds a LOT of charisma behind the pursuer types. He manages to strike this ridiculous balance between scary & humorous. The humor never once poisons the helplessness you feel when he graces your presence. Marguerite goes into the body horror aspect & forces you to chase her around in a annoyingly structured house, failure to apply pressure gives her time to ambush you or legitimately spawn hives from her insect hybrid gigi. 2. House Benoviento from RE8. The baby, the creepy bloodthirsty dolls, and the weeping angel mannequins make this location VERY memorable in recent memory. 1. The hunter introduction scene in RE1. The suspense of not know what's following you that's that fast is memorable, then when it shows up, it proves itself deadly & is something that needs to be dealt with immediately.
I have with HotD, I used to play the arcade game at my local movie theater. I know that they remade it for the switch too. I've only heard of Cry of Fear, nothing more
The pit with the swimming Novistadors in RE4R was scary for me. Having to traverse a water filled, pitch black area where giant swimming bugs waited in ambush was nerve-wracking.
