- The safe start-up of Pluto LNG in 2012 was a major milestone for Woodside, cementing our status as a leader in Australian LNG and major supplier of energy to the Asia Pacific region.
The project processes gas from the offshore Pluto gas field, with gas piped through a 180 km trunkline to a single onshore LNG processing train with annual production capacity of 4.3 million tonnes. Woodside took the project from discovery in 2005 to first production just seven years later, a demonstration of our world-class LNG capabilities and expertise.
Pluto LNG delivers a step change in production and revenue for Woodside through our 90% equity in the project. Pluto's value to Woodside is underpinned by long-term sales contracts with our foundation customers.
Pluto generated more than 15,000 Australian jobs during the life of construction and delivered more than A$7.6 billion in local content.
The Pluto LNG Project joint venture participants are Woodside Burrup Pty Ltd (90% and operator), Tokyo Gas Pluto Pty Ltd (5%) and Kansai Electric Power Australia Pty Ltd (5%).

Not a bad project, got over 4 years work out of it
production started in 2012, what is the life of production expected till? 2030? 2040? do you know.

It was only a small amount, the pluto reserve. It was already pre sold to the Japanese, about 10 years life span from memory. When we were still building the trains, they were hopeful of running the LPG from Barrow reserve through it for processing but pluto was Woodside, and Barrow was Chevron so that didn't happen. Finished working on pluto in 2012, so no idea what's happening now
