I would love to move to Bend.. Mark Waters (backcountryrecumbent) is where i bough my Etrike.. He is a good friend. but the elevation is so high i would get stuck in a snow drift.. I rely on my trike to shop. Medford or Ashland has better weather for cycling. but that is probably going to be in Oregon.. I have had my name on a waitlist there.. but that takes 3-5 years.. When i get an inheritance, (hopefully not soon, i like my dad) i will give you a call to set up some viewings.. I 'm visually impaired, i need ground floor, no steps (to trip on) and a garage for my trike with an opener, would eventually like a garden area, it's own sewer and well. I grew up in Idaho. My dad has a successful irrigation business where he produces Kbox and bubblescreen. If i could see the ban saws, i would be working there. LOL..
That's funny, neither Oregon or Washington would entertain such nonsense. It's ridiculous, that people want to move state lines, instead of packing up and moving themselves.
@troywest7045 you do realise that state lines have been redrawn for reasons like this before. It can and should be happening. If the state becomes corrupt and despotic Than it aught be reprimanded and punished by its citizenry for its failings and abuses. A state losing territory is inevitable, attempting to gridlock the nation and deprive people of their right to self determination will inevitably lead to explosive tension. The state is no monolith for us to revere, but a tool to bend into shape. The state is not some benevolent religion deserving of faith, but a dangerous corporation with a monopoly on violence.
I live in Oregon near Eugene. I would end up in Oregon still after the change. I have empathy for the people who want to be in Idaho. Oregon is extremely leftist in its government. Since mail in voting was made law, the Democrats have taken power and always have enough votes in the big cities on the interstate 5 corridor. People who live in the east look at the legislation of Oregon's recent history as backwards and non-sensible. If the change happens where I live would still be Oregon. I would be abandoned by the biggest part of the state where people have a more firm grounding of realities. If I lived in the part that wants to be Idaho, I would vote for it,
moving over state line (former Oregon to Idaho) 1: car licensing, tabs, drivers license and 4% tax on the value of your car will have to be paid, insurance adjustments need to be made.. 2: Property tax, Insurance etc need to be adjusted. Some insurance is only for oregon so you will need to find new insurance. 3: anyone with a business will have to have property value appraised for Idaho Tax. and any Licenses will need to be changed (involves passing test ..again). Teachers need to get an Idaho license.. Real estate, hair cutting, restaurants have different licensing requirements. This is going to be very expensive for all involved. There will need to be programs to defer or eliminate some of this expense of many will go out of business in this bad economy.. maybe tax credits for everyone transitioning.
The issue ultimately comes down to representation: Residents of many of the rural areas in Eastern Oregon/Washington are not represented by the states, which are predominantly controlled major urban centers in Seattle, Portland, Eugene, Olympia, etc. It's not even about team red/blue divide, per se, either... It's more about almost all policies intended to solve urban issues being applied to rural residents (as the majority of WA/OR voters live urban/suburban regions). Demanding all these rural residents to simply move to Idaho is also absurd and a bit delusional... If the vast majority of a population in Western Texas is not being served by their state government, would it not be the democratic thing to do to allow them to join with, for example, a more aligned New Mexico government?
Maybe...this movement can include the entire western half of California (including Orange County). Imagine...one state that reaches from the Mexican boarder, all the way to Canada. ;)
@@movingtobendoregon Actually, I made a slight mistake. I meant to say "Eastern" half of Ca. Because, if you look at the voting map of 2024, the entire eastern half went red. Either way, Greater Idaho would probably pick up 30~40 seats in the House. :)
@@AniwayasSong Then why did so many of the same counties involved foist their sometimes hopeless highway maintenance issues on the state for the last 20 years? Understand: I went and drove ALL of them. I am of the opinion that you’re just upset we don’t throw more money at you.
@@movingtobendoregon That very "small population" also voted to be part of Idaho rather than stay with a state heading in the direction the people of the I5 corridor are taking Oregon
@@ryker900travels7 So… what concerns you about this direction? There is a Portland TV report regarding “Greater Idaho” that, to most of the people given a voice, never gave more specifics than “leave us alone.” And I don’t think this is an editing issue (ownership of the conglomerate that includes KGW shall not be considered left wing for MANY reasons). There’s something disingenuous about this movement. So explain what you mean. Not that this is going to happen… the people who are taking over in Washington next year are more interested in legalizing their grift. So I think you’re outvoted regardless. But please try to explain our direction. And have you been watching Idaho recently?
Do you people not understand how any of this works? I swear, people are getting dumber by the day. This doesn't have a snowball chance in hell of ever happening.
I would like to see a greater Iowa movement to swallow Central Illinois. I don’t live there anymore but it’s sad to see the soil being so mistreated by Chicago politics.
If people could afford to buy, in Idaho, a similar property they would have to selling in Oregon, they would. If you own a large track of land with improvements on it in Oregon its likely something akin to it in Idaho does not exist or is to expensive.
Yes, because everyone, but ESPECIALLY generational ranchers/farmers, can just pack up their pick-ups and uproot their families so easily. Try harder if you're going to enter into a mature, adult conversation. Otherwise, don't say anything at all.
@@ryker900travels7 Um, if you’re hoping to sell a plot in Ukiah and buy in Sun Valley, good luck with that. My sister owns on the east side of Portland and could easily move to Boise (where that rush of two years ago already crested). Sun Valley, maybe, maybe not. Somewhere like Gooding or Jerome? C’mon. I lived in Idaho for 15 years and I know most of the state would be easy access… and what isn’t. So I’m curious which apples and oranges you’re comparing.

I'd prefer just kicking out portland to eugene from oregon, they can do their own thing.

If Greater Idaho happens, I'm moving to an Oregon county that joined.

I heard talk of Eastern Washington wanting to join the greater Idaho movement also.

I'd be curious if Idaho could financially maintain the roads and other infrastructure gaining such a large area with a relatively small tax base.
