- This is an ACA Allertor on top of John F. Kennedy High School in Bloomington, MN. The location is on 98th street, and Nicollet Ave. This is a 9/12 port Allertor, and it has the shallow horn like 8/12, and 10/12's port Allertors have. It appears to have a faster windup. It's 3 phrase, and a 1972 version with a shallower horn, a rare sight.

Drove right by there today! Man that thing is sweet up there on that roof...not really high up, so it looks HUGE! For some reason, from 98th street, it looks bigger than my Allertor that's sitting in my garage...maybe it's just because I'm not used to them being that low.
Very nice sounding Allertor! That must be one of the original 1972 Allertors cause the intake horn design looks smaller compared to the other designs. Sounds good for its age.
that is very interesting that this allertor has a shorter intake cone and a fast windup.
How would you like to be in the classroom right below it?
Oh yea, I would love it
I think the main reason it wound up so fast is not only because it's a three-phase model, but because two of the three power legs are backwards, making the motor run the wrong direction. These ACA sirens have uni-directional rotors and stators, meaning they can only spin one way to achieve full output, so when one's running backwards like this it's not as loud as it could be and has about 40% less air resistance, making it spin up faster.
Is that bad?
I have never seen one of these mounted on a roof of a school. Out here in Denver our thunderbolts are on a roof. This is very unique.
I think it means that it's 1:00 pm and that there is no signs of thunderstorms or tornados(always does that on wensday.)
Dozens of towns in that state use to have allertord but they always replace them
It is not said like 'Phrase' it is 'Phase'
i have never seen a silver allertor befor and its sounds helthy nice video
Siren has been replaced
It's still there according to a July 2016 google satellite image.
No it's not there. it got replaced in August
What did it get replaced with?
2001-130
Oh come on. :(
Nice sound!!
REST IN PEACE SIREN :(
I was just looking on google maps for the allertor I saw where it was located but then there was no allertor. I think they replaced it
It was replaced with a Federal Signal 2001-130 back in 2017.
isn't the noise pretty annoying for the students?
what is an allertor?
A siren.... 9/12 port dual tone.
@@apocalyptic1644 or 10/12 port, 8/12 port, or even 8 port
The ACA Allertor 125 was an outdoor warning siren made by Alerting Communicators of America and from 1968 until 1980. It had a distinctive design with the chopper in the bottom horn and the noise coming out of the top horn
This was copied from google
Is the siren still here
