"Lenovo even throws an active stylus" In a world with Wacom EMR, that's a corner cut, not a plus, mind you. It has always been a corner cut, except perhaps for Apple which makes theirs good enough, yet since unlike Samsung they don't put much extra functionality on it, it still it could be better as a passive EMR one.
The 14" Gen 7 is cheaper and when specced with the same 2.8K OLED and the Ryzen 7 6800U it comfortably outperforms the 9i on almost every metric - CPU multicore score, battery life, quieter/cooler/less fan noise, and huge iGPU performance.
One thing I didn’t hear mentioned is the 2.8k oled model is also a 90hz display. For some reason it’s not well advertised but it was discovered on other reviews and confirmed by Lenovo

How does this device compare to MacBooks? InItially, I was going to get the Yoga 9i but I'm not too sure anymore. I want a device that I can use for years. My previous device lasted 8 yrs.

Especially with Lenovo. Their pen tech is all over the place, with Wacom AES (that’s the battery powered tech), usi, mpp, and whatever their Android precision pens use.
Very hard to read keyboard. Best design requires high contrast big bold white letters and numbers on pitch black keys. Otherwise, it's not user-friendly and not suited for elderly, handicapped or anyone having vision difficulties. My yoga 9i already broke at 2 and 1/2 years old. The touchscreen is junk and already needs replacing. It cost me $300 bucks!! Any reputable company gives at least a 5 year guarantee, if not a lifetime guarantee. I have Yoga 9i with i5/16GB RAM/1TB SSD/2.8k OLED and i can get 4-5 hours of work (60 Hz, Outlook, Gmail, MS Office, Web browsing and some music). I use battery saving mode, 50% brightness and keyboard backlight off. Not ideal but for my usage ok... In future I would like see 8 hours battery life while working 👍
What you should be reviewing is the user experience when it breaks. Mine is just over a year old, won't start, and I still can't get it fixed and Lenovo doesn't offer any help at all. Seriously major support issues.
@@if6was929 This support has been my saving grace. I got it with my Yoga C940, and I've used the support for more repairs than actual usage time. @@thubenyuhmin297 In 2021, I had the Lenovo S940, a beautiful 14" laptop with a curved edge UHD screen. The problem was the screen wasn't Gorilla Glass and was prone to cracking... for no reason! I've owned 6 Lenovo Laptops over the years and that was the only issue I had, so I'm still a fan of the brand. Sometimes, communication with them is a PIA though. But I'd never buy a laptop from, any manufacturer, without also buying Premium service.
@@theodorakatsaros7847 I ended up getting the laptop, and, long story short, go with a mac. Chances are your school will give your class a free laptop that might be a 2-in-1 deal, which is what my school did. The yoga 9i has a nice UI and sound, but it's fan overheats way too often when using OneNote and when drawing/taking notes in any app, not just OneNote. You're unable to configure the power settings to alleviate this problem too. Might as well spend a little more for a new iPad. The pen/stylus it comes with is not user-friendly, and is definitely a downgrade from previous ones. It also randomly stops working, which sucks when you're taking notes during lecture. The battery life for the laptop is fantastic, although I never have a problem with low battery since I only take this to lectures and plug it in when I get home. Storage is also fantastic, but again, this probably won't be a problem with other products. It does come with built-in apps that are nice, like this Copilot AI chat thing, which helps with understanding difficult material. But really I don't use it for much else. Overall I'd give it a 7/10. I'd do some more research on this and Apple products, and would prefer the latter if you have an iPhone. Hope this helps and good luck in school!
They also should switch to softer, rubberized keys that feel good to type on, and are 100% completely SILENT. The current clicky cheap plastic keys are a real put-off making the whole device feel like cheap plastic.
The design looks like a complete mess. Remember how everyone hated the rounded chrome finish on early Samsung Galaxy phones that were prone to scratches and gunk? It's apparently fashionable again? The two tone silver and black looks like an old HP laptop, complete with very dated bezels. At least those HP laptops had a uniform aesthetic. This looks like someone shaking a scrabble bag and pulling out random letters to see if it makes a nice 7-word play. I can't imagine a 2 in 1 ever being "comfortable" to hold, especially with exposed keys and touchpad, but I guess this is the best of a bad situation.

The look is terrible, reminds me of an old gadget my father got from one of his insurance conventions that was a clock, calculator and calendar in a flip-phone package. Looked a lot like this, obviously not the size. It was about the size of a razor. EDIT: everything else, not bad. Kind of like the dual purpose of the hinge. Sure not as pretty and flashy as the "watchband" hinge, but more practical and a clever solution.
