Not entirely convinced it will in Fleet Destruction. It's not a very speed-limited map, the SU-57's agility *really* helps, and the PLSL cannon is a drawback, and you're left helpless in the clouds without a cannon - and there's a lot of clouds here, specially with the NW plane respawns.
Took that Super model of a Jet out for a test drive...I might need some help in timing missiles with aircraft position due to me underestimating How Goddamn fast this baby is. Most success I have is treating the nose PLSL like machine guns on a WW2 era fighter

DarkStar is a super airplane. So realistically made in the film with the participation of engineers from Skunk Works (the creators of the L-133 Starjet, U-2 Dragon Lady, SR-71 Blackbird, F-117 Nighthawk, the F-22 Raptor flew for the first time 25 years ago and the currently produced F-35 Lightning II) that even the Chinese were fooled. Modeled on the SR-72 vision, the plane carries AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles, GBU-53/B StormBreaker precision bombs and pulse laser weapons as a special weapon. While the DarkStar is the fastest aircraft in Ace Combat 7, the game's limitations have severely stifled its potential. In Microsoft Flight Simulator, DarkStar reaches the speed of Mach 9 (in AC7 Mach 5) and an altitude of 45 kilometers. The cockpit is also better mapped. It remains to be hoped that the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine will allow Ace Combat 8 to create even more mapped cockpits at the MSFS level.
Choice of engine doesn’t effect the ability to model details on cockpits from current gen to next gen. It’s just how much effort the modeller puts into the cockpits.
This thing is absurd. It's an actual risk to fly off the map if you're not careful. I wholeheartedly agree that this thing is going to be a speedrunner's dream in most missions.
@@NightfallGemini That's a good point. I can see its speed and lack of maneuverability being an issue on the first part of the Werewolf mission, for example. But most missions reward speed and it has the armaments to drop key targets quickly. We'll see how things shakedown.

The faceless soldier & bunker buster missions are a breeze with darkstar, moving from target to target at close to mach 5. You can even outrun normal missiles in a straight line without much problems.

I totally agree it's about time we finally got an Aurora style craft in this game that was my favorite plane from Ace 3, I always had mine equipped with the orbital satellite laser which could just instantly shoot down anything once it locked on.
You have to imagine the Eruseans shitting themselves if this was how it happened. Picture it: Maybe you’re some Erusean sailor that’s part of a small task force that is sent to the area after contact with your forces in the area is completely lost. You arrive and find… nothing. Almost no planes in sky, no ships on the horizon. The platforms you know are there are no where to be found. Not even the signs of a battle can be seen; no smoke or fire to be seen. The only signs that the naval forces were ever there are some floating debris around the area, the foundation of the platforms sticking out of the water, maybe a few lucky sailors floating in the water, maybe even a fighter plane or two that the enemy didn’t destroy because they ran out of time. You pull those sailors out and land those couple of planes on your carrier. You then find one of those survivors what happened and what they describe, about how everyone was destroyed by just one pilot in a plane they can’t recognize (with the symbol of Three claw-like Stripes on its tail fins) spewing lasers and was so fast they could do nothing but die, would read like an eldritch horror story. This was no pilot, this was a monster, a terror upon the skies that brought naught but death and silence to its enemies, your friends allies, comrades, and even to you. And you don’t even know where it is, where it could be, or where it will strike next… or if you’re next. It might even be nearby, ready to kill again. There’ll be no sleep for you after that, for a long, long, time…
I would love for an AC8 to be more speed focused. Maybe centered around naval warfare as well. Would also love to get damage models and penetration for vehicles. So something like the standard missile will do little to no damage to the front of a tank but the hitting the top could finish it off easily. Finally I think more prototype planes would be cool to see
I want a multiplayer game mode that focuses on Air-to-Ground AND Air-to-Air combat. In AC7, the ground attack craft and ordinance were completely useless in TDM/FFA.
@@RicochetForce yeah and having to blow up vehicles from the top would make things a legitimate challenge. Nobody wants realism in Ace Combat but more difficulty and complexity is lit. So far surface targets in Ace Combat are useless to the point they made 3 DLC missions in AC7 based around the inferiority complex of a naval gunner from AC4 whose ship you sunk in 20 seconds with a few missiles. I'd love it if they added an armour model because then there'd be a use for anti ground missiles that are currently useless as of Ace Combat 7. Plus they could give the A10 an armour penetrating machine gun which would be entertaining for the small community of people that like that. Being more realistic is incidental.

It's a cool DLC. But at the same time I don't know if it's worth $20. That's almost double then other DLC-Packs. Tomcat is cool. But I think the only real draw to the DLC is the DarkStar
It's a good point. The DarkStar is awesome, but the situation for the other aircraft is mixed. The Maverick F-14 is the best F-14 in the game. The F-14A is worse than the one in the base game (F-14D), the F/A-18s is a mixed bag. The Maverick version is better than the one in the base game with an air to air weapons loadout, but the F/A-18 Block 3 is has better stats and a loadout that handles most missions.

There's been a bunch of superplanes not made in Belka XFA-27 - Usean Wyvern - Erusian (The X-02S however is Belkan) Nosferatu - Yuktobania Fenrir - Leasath If you count Earth designs then the Varcolac and Shinden II counts as from independent sources and Japanese respectively, and this means the Nosferatu is technically also Russian. The Darkstar is the first American, non-Ace Combat original superplane though.

@DEADSHOT15 It's not that good multiplayer. The speed is so high and the turning relatively poor that it's pretty easy to dodge the laser spam from these. Compared to the ADF-11 and SU-57 it's not that big of a laser threat. The F/A-18 Maverick has full PSM and HCAA, it's an absolute terror.
Erusean Harrier pilots when the Oseans break out a Mach 10-capable spaceship with lasers capable of splitting aircraft carriers in two: *Chuckles* “I’m in danger.”
Team: do like trigger and serve up a sandwich. Enemy: loss of the entire platform was not anticipated! me: oh, you think? you just lost 5 platforms the size of oil drillers with about 5 billion dollars of equipment in under 25 seconds.
Seeing US markings on some skins, as cool as it is, seems to go against the whole point of Strangereal and probably not canon (obviously). Strangereal was meant to avoid tensions and issues that arise from depicting IRL factions and their clashes. Still, nice to see that Lockheed Martin can compete with Belkan witchcraft. Grunder seems to steal their designs from them anyways (F-22 for example).

Go check Acepedia, it says Lockheed Martin and further there is a link to an article stating that Lockheed Martin Skunk Works helped with Paramount Pictures with the design. The only tenuous grasp you have is that Grunder is considered an expy of LM. No, Grunder is NOT Lockheed Martin.
It’s difficult to do, but it’s very rewarding. I remember doing this mission over and over again because I loved how much there was to destroy. Feels like the only true large-scale mission in the game aside from Farbanti.

With the introduction of the darkstar, i assume EDI (from Stealth 2005) is very much now possible to make because of their similar appearance, hypersonic speeds and is pretty much a very fictional aircraft

Watching and playing this mission just makes me want to play AC infinity again. That game was the tits with the missions and the amount of aircraft in the game. Like ever since that game there hasn't been anything that stood out to me like taking out SOLG, Moby Dick, or Stonehenge. Mister X and the 2 drones at the end were the hardest things for me in the game and they weren't even hard once I got a decent jet so I could psm and constantly stay on their tail.

The reason why it has a high top speed but can't do psm and is kinda clunky handling wise is because it's a bomber. You can tell by the sp.w and the design plus the insane speed. It looks like a slightly more curvy and streamlined sr-71 blackbird. Which was for recon use.
Now you know why Rambo was so disillusioned and angry... Col. Troutman never took the liberty of ordering him dinner from that nice Italian bistro near the base...
I used the xo2s for this mission. An eml will make short work of the ships and you only need 1 shot per platform. The speed of the x02s is also pretty good.
So this is the first time they included aircraft from other franchises in their cross promotion, I'm hoping this isn't the last time, and I'm hoping if they ever do another cross promotion with Godzilla we get the ASTOL-MB93.

@DEADSHOT15 It's not that good multiplayer. The speed is so high and the turning relatively poor that it's pretty easy to dodge the laser spam from these. Compared to the ADF-11 and SU-57 it's not that big of a laser threat. The F/A-18 Maverick has full PSM and HCAA, it's an absolute terror.

Seeing US markings on some skins, as cool as it is, seems to go against the whole point of Strangereal and probably not canon (obviously). Strangereal was meant to avoid tensions and issues that arise from depicting IRL factions and their clashes. Still, nice to see that Lockheed Martin can compete with Belkan witchcraft. Grunder seems to steal their designs from them anyways (F-22 for example).

In pvp if you max out the speed upgrades and fly at max alt you can become hypersonic trust me it works.

It’s difficult to do, but it’s very rewarding. I remember doing this mission over and over again because I loved how much there was to destroy. Feels like the only true large-scale mission in the game aside from Farbanti.

With the introduction of the darkstar, i assume EDI (from Stealth 2005) is very much now possible to make because of their similar appearance, hypersonic speeds and is pretty much a very fictional aircraft

Watching and playing this mission just makes me want to play AC infinity again. That game was the tits with the missions and the amount of aircraft in the game. Like ever since that game there hasn't been anything that stood out to me like taking out SOLG, Moby Dick, or Stonehenge. Mister X and the 2 drones at the end were the hardest things for me in the game and they weren't even hard once I got a decent jet so I could psm and constantly stay on their tail.

Cornering looks a bit mediocre, but that's just 1 or 2 notches below god-tier.
It amazes me that Project Aces would do a collaboration with Top Gun and not....Macross, Yukikaze, or even Gundam.
They've already done Macross and it was underwhelming, just a tomcat skin.

The reason why it has a high top speed but can't do psm and is kinda clunky handling wise is because it's a bomber. You can tell by the sp.w and the design plus the insane speed. It looks like a slightly more curvy and streamlined sr-71 blackbird. Which was for recon use.

I used the xo2s for this mission. An eml will make short work of the ships and you only need 1 shot per platform. The speed of the x02s is also pretty good.
