This is basically the Canadian version of XMen. I never understood if these superpowers beings are being portrayed as outcasts. They should be ruling the world with their powers.
Not trying to be rude but I never got this criticism. They're not like Omega level mutants or anything like that their powers have limits and the strongest class of each can still be gunned down with enough ammunition.
Chris, this is a prevalent pattern that I am seeing in films that struggle to entertain - lack of characterization that, perhaps is indicative of a rushed script. If the characters are not complex or engaging, the story does indeed become tiresome. As they always say 'ain't on the page, ain't on the stage'. Either way, always look forward to your reviews. You are an excellent reviewer who doesn't go into rage rants or whatever. I really thank you over and over again for that. As far as Sci-fi - that's super hard. 2001, despite its pace is probably still my go-to sci-fi film. However, if I want great action and a compelling story, I watch the original Terminator which, for me personally, is my favorite in the series.
This one didn't catch me. Why was everyone after Pav? She didn't see the robot kill her brother, only saw his body and the robot standing nearby, easy for the corrupt cops to claim she's lying or misremembering. Instead of just dismissing her testimony - which must have been something they were expecting to have to do at some point given the robots were running around with lethal doses of psyk in syringes - they ended up gunning down all these extra people and places and causing no end to the amount of extra paperwork needed. Not to mention the 14 year old girl just lost her brother, and didn't seem all that upset about it. Maybe I don't understand grief, but I cried more when I had to put a stray cat down than she did for the guy who raised her. Lots of little things with all the characters like that. The special effects and acting were all decent, but the script just fell flat for me.
Spoilers. The story itself was just so full of holes that it just didn’t have any depth. The whole having to get the dog so they could get the files downloaded off of it was the stupidest thing. Any corrupt cop would have deleted the incriminating evidence from the tapes immediately. And since they had full control and no oversight why wouldn’t they have just done that. What was the point of keeping that video on the dog. And chasing after one girl who saw only the dog in front of her brother who was already doing criminal work is just stupid for the whole premise of the movie. Also the fact that they killed her brother in the first place is just crazy. They caught him and knew he was one of Garrets guys. They could have just brought him back to garrets to handle. One of the other ridiculous parts was when they took her to get her memory wiped. Why didn’t they just erase the memories she had of the dog rather than her brother. She had one moment two moments with the dog and once she forgot that then she would have been fine. All together it was a lack luster story that was not engaging at all. Not to mention there was no real reason why he went to jail in the first place and it was never explained. Nor why garret went to prison in the end. He must have had a really bad lawyer.
I like how you say the film has holes but your argument has a bunch of holes as well. The can't just delete files off the dog it's not Google docs or something like that It was clearly stated that the dog uses that footage to learn and isn't accessible unless you're a technopath like pav of was. The alliance that Garrett had with Sergeant King was supposed to be a secret that not even his inner circle besides his two yes men knew about. So yeah they're not just going to spare the two witnesses that know about their whole operation. You thinking them trying to kill pav was stupid is completely your opinion and I have no rebuttal against that because that's completely subjective so to each their own. Your criticism of the memory wiping scene also falls apart because you suggested they could have just erase her memory of the dog and not her brother when it was also clearly stated that memory is linked to each other which is why that's it erase her brother completely from her mind Because memories can come back if they're linked to an event the subject still remembers, hence the dog killing her brother.
hey chris, will you ever review amazon prime’s mr and mrs smith? it was really really good!! or fx’s new shogun show? i think that looks great as well and i’ll probably start it tomorrow
I haven't had the opportunity to watch Mr and Mrs Smith yet, but have heard some good things. I also want to start Shogun... just need to find the time, but wow, it looks amazing!
It made very little sense. I’m surprised it’s done so well. The good cop from the first movie (Sung Kang) seems to have become the bad Police Chief in Part II? This is never explained. It’s only implied by Connor that they’re the same person: “has your partner left you for greater heights?” Mina’s introduced as a new character and somehow in the space of 15 minutes we’re supposed to care when she dies. She also somehow becomes a mother figure to Pav with no character development. The plot spends too much time on insignificant scenes (10 minutes on a robot chase) and too little time on scenes that actually mean something (Connor choosing between running with Pav or starting up the old warhorse with Garrett.) Acting was stale as a whole. Far less emotions from Robbie than before. 2/5 for a film I had such high hopes for.
The good cop from part 1 was Officer park, and the corrupt one in part 2 is Sergeant King. Different characters, and it's implied that Park was either fired (or worse) by his old partner. The writing did feel like the weakest link of both movies.
I might actually watch these at some point. They look less than inspired but I like the Amell cousins a lot. I've been a fan of Robbie for a long time. Stephen is great in the first few seasons of Arrow too (haven't seen Heels tho) so maybe I'll be entertained enough. I'll definitely watch it on 1.25x. I love speed settings. I always watch UA-cam videos at somewhere between 1.25 and 1.5x
Honestly, the last sci-fi movie (not series) I really enjoyed was The Wandering Earth II. Gave it a 8/10. I also finally watched Matrix Resurrections recently & gave that a 7/10 (first half was a lot better than the 2nd).
First one had potential this one shat all over that potential
Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell are cousins, NOT brothers.
Did you learn this from the other video review for this movie? 😂
@bju420 Ha Ha. No it's s fact I've known for over 10 years.

They arent that powerful though modern military tech won

Dude.... couldn't agree more. They dropped the ball badly..
I agree but i still enjoyed it. But yeah it definetly could of been a lot better @@pkshowsupnoobsallday
I personally liked his acting more in part 2
No the good cop from the first movie tried to stop king(it's probably the cop from the first movie that gets attacked) and got fired by trying

I love it!!
ok cool , thought it was just me, I couldn't finish the movie, first one was fun and this one just felt like a CW filler episode for Arrow.
Pavani made the whole experience a challenge. I stopped after the bridge shootout.
I love these movies
👍👍👍
A disappointment…
This movie was boring and sucked.
First movie was ... meh I see some potential here. This second one was boring, full of plot holes and bad acting.

everything is great xcept for the stakes, there are none. At no point did I think that little girl was actually in any danger
Steaming pile of garbage. Both of the movies.
