How do you enjoy being an operator? Anything you wish you knew beforehand?

I can’t be productive in a case CTL. I have a cat and that’s the brand I’ve been running last 3-4 years. I got a job working with a new guy here recently and he runs case. Brand new case 310 and it’s the worst skidsteer I think I’ve ever used. Jerky, the handles twist, air right seat is shallow. It’s like and rc car. You bump the trigger and it just goes crazy. Been using it for the last 2 months and I hate every second of it. I thought I’d get used to it but it just sucks. I can be an artist in a cat and I just wanna go home in the case.

you can adjust the sensitivty of the controls in the case in the monitor theres more adjustment setings in the case/newholland than any skidsteer out there u just probably needed to tweek some stuff weve got a new newholland at work and it took a little bit but i finally got it dialed in and it feels like a cat or deere now so far deere has been my favorite of everything ive ran and ive ran most all the popular brands in the usa at one time or another

@@windzer I’ve been in most everything id say as well and as much as I enjoyed the Deere the times I’ve used them, the cat is the one for me. The moment I first sat in one I just fell in love. Actually my first thought was is there enough foot room but my second thought was this is amazing. Thanks for the tips. I’ll see what I can figure out with the case settings.

@@poorfarm-nn6ii yup I like the cats too it would be a second for me they definitely ride nicer than almost everything out there i just dont like how they feel like ur riding a rocking horse after u get some wear on that undercarriage my biggest complaint is the cab room I'm a pretty big dude and they are pretty tight inside and they r terrible to service also but as far as operating the cats r pretty good

The alpha series skids (which is what we are running here) are notorious for having the jerky controls. Everybody hates them. The new B series has corrected this and they are much better grading machines. I would not put a Case alpha series anywhere close to the top of the list when it comes to good grading machines.

@@DieselandIron thanks for the reply! Yeah this is a 310b and it’s very jerky. But I hear I can adjust the controls. It’s a tr and I hear they make a better version of these skids as well. I’m a cat man. I own a cat for my business on the weekends and love it. But during the week this is what I have to use.

So at the end of the run, does he tear up the road and turn around, of does he go backwards over the pile again? Or angle his way off the road and turn around on the shoulder?
