    This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.

    Hi Kev, thanks for this video, along with the others that have helped me choose a machine and my first home barista set up. My Arte arrived today and after a couple of trial runs, it would appear they may have made tweaks to the grinding set up. Grind setting no.3 was much better than you experienced, and no. 2 on the dial was very fine and caused the pressure gage to go way above the ideal range. Back to experimenting tomorrow, using your classic Italian blend too. my coffee intake will be through the roof over the next couple of days... Luckily I'm on night shift and need the caffeine. Keep up the good work.

      Hi, Dan. My machine arrived yesterday (3/28/23). I used a medium-dark bean for my first test, set the grinder to 3, dose to 17, and got a massive over-extraction that made the pressure gauge to register half way into the red zone! LOL! The quick-start manual says to set the grind to 4 and dose to 15 for a medium-dark, but this caused the grind quantity to be quite a bit below the indicator level on the cup. So, I ground more coffee on the 3 level to fill the cup (after tamping). Did you experiment with the quick-start recommendations for dose and grind levels (15 dose, 4 grind)? How did those work out for you? Also, the guide recommended a temperature setting of medium. I had mine set to hot. Do you think this could have anything to do with the over-extraction? I appreciate any knowledge you can offer, sir.

    Have one of these since Christmas. Today it stopped grinding coffee. The motor whirls etc but no coffee grounds going into the ports filter. With this model you cannot remove the grinder to clean and unclog. The only recommendation is to stick a vacuum cleaner nozzle in and suck out the beans which is not very useful. It seems to be the cheap disposable version of the prestige. It is being retuned tomorrow.

    Hi Kev, I've just got the La Specialista Prestigio (Almost the same but with the integrated tamping system similar to the impress). Grinder seems to be similar still but with this one you CAN remove the burrs to clean which is nice. Still trying to get used to it but enjoying myself so far, struggling with the milk consistency for lattes though.

    • @neildavid6375
      @neildavid6375 Рік тому

      Looking at the Prestigio, one of the reviews suggested that whilst you can remove the burrs it isn’t sealed and the beans are a nightmare to clean out. Has this been fixed with the unit sealing for removal? Thanks in advance

      @@neildavid6375 So I had an issue on Friday where the grinder wasn’t grinding. Took the beans out (as much I could) released the burr and hoovered any residual beans left behind. Got the little brush that came with and poked around a bit. Put everything back together and worked fine.

    Great Video
    Big question
    I tried 30 dose and the portafiller overflowed all over the machine
    Eventually using dose 10 with grind size of 2
    Not sure why your suggested settings caused my issues
    Any suggestions?
    Regards

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  5 місяців тому

      Hi Harry, when you say you tried 30 dose, you're referring to the grinding time, 30 seconds? I don't think I suggested that, unless I was having a moment ;-). Anyway, the grinding time will depend on the grind size, but yeah 30 seconds would probably be way too long. Ideally I'd use brew scales, and dose by weight, just using the grind time as a way to repeatedly get your desired dose weight. Cheers, Kev.

    • @HarryWard-ni4ys
      @HarryWard-ni4ys 5 місяців тому

      Looking at it again you said 20 seconds grind size 4 so my bad there.
      I just used Min grind size 5 and after tamping the coffee for a double cup size the coffee is above the required level and the portafiller won’t fit
      Finally I got it to work on grind size 2 with a minimum dose reading which ran for 12-13 seconds
      Does that sound right for Vittoria Italian blend

    • @HarryWard-ni4ys
      @HarryWard-ni4ys 5 місяців тому

      Question on minimum the grinding lasts 12-13 seconds is this what you would expect?

    Hey Kev! Thanks for your review! How did you get the water to come out first on the Long Black? On my version bought in Germany, the espresso comes out first, then the water for an Americano.
    Also, I agree that the gauge should be numbered, but if you count up from zero, then noon is 8 bar, and so the ideal 9 bar is one major notch past that.
    While I wish this had a wider range on grind settings, I do think it is a smart machine at it's pricepoint - at least in Germany. Not sure what it costs up there by you.
    Cheers!

    • @Coffee_Kev
      @Coffee_Kev  2 роки тому

      Thanks Tom :-). This model is just set up this way, with a Long Black button and water first, it surprised me though as you saw. Is the button on your version labelled as long black of Americano?
      It's around £430-£450 usually in the UK, so it's fairly low priced comparatively speaking. It's not just the range though, it's the way it jumps massively at the lower grind settings.
      That's interesting re the pressures, did you use a PF pressure gauge or did you get these numbers from DeLonghi?
      Cheers

    So basically speaking, "recipe" for each bag of new beans would be:
    1. Grinder setting in the middle.
    2. Grind 16-18g in double shot basket.
    3. Pull few shots until you reach 20-30sec extraction time by adusting grinder to finer.
    Is this ok?

    • @mhaagmans1
      @mhaagmans1 2 роки тому

      I think he should add a little extra time every time he goes fines, because it will yield less coffee when you grind finer using the same amount of time. Obviously that is trial and error.

    8 Bar is at 12 o clock. Also I had a bean stuck in the grinder and it wouldn't grind anymore, so i had to send it to the service center because you can't take the burrs out to clean it.
