I worked between 90-115 hours a week for two years straight. It almost literally killed me. The even worse part, is I was on salary, so I got pays absolutely nothing for anything over 40 hours. If I ever missed a day though or even a few hours for an appointment, I got heavily docked.i developed a vascular disease, almost lost a leg, I developed type 2 diabetes, and a myriad of other issues all within this period of time. I drove at least 8-10 hours a day, and worked an additional 8-10 hours in the field. I covered a tri-state area. When I got so ill, that I had to be hospitalized, they didn't honor any of my PTO/sick days, benefits, and withheld my pay on top of it. All in all, I ended up with over $13k in stolen wages, benefits, vacation time stolen. I couldn't get anyone in my deep red state to do their jobs, enforce labor laws, help me in any way. Lawyers even told me, that if I lived anywhere else, I'd have a grand slam case, but living where I do, meant very little chance of success, and that the company would probably use their resources to make my life hell. Trump already tried reclassifying workers to screw us out of overtime, and his donors are a who's who of companies on the front lines of decimating worker's rights. Because increasing minimum wage doesn't help anyone. It only causes inflation and destroys mom and pop shops. The problem is the employer can cut hours at the end of the month to avoid paying overtime. Effectively making people front load work to the first 3 weeks and then cut hours on the 4th. I don't see how that's gonna work. If they're paying overtime it's because theres too much work and not enough time. So even if they front load work, there is still going to be left over work to do on the 4th week. That's why there was overtime to begin with
You guys are not seeing the actual reason. No company is going to make a worker work 80 hours a week and then not work at all lol. Stupid. Its reasoning is because a lot of companies work a 2-2-3 schedule. Many people enjoy this schedule, you get more time off and your long stint you get 8 hours of overtime. IF you get paid lunches you’d lose 4 hours of overtime bi weekly. However, most companies make you take 30min lunch. In that case, instead of getting 6 hours of overtime on your long week you would only get 30 minutes.
@matthewstansbury3047 Thank you for bringing sense to this discussion instead of more feelings. I kinda had this same question but your explanation makes sense.
@@matthewstansbury3047 yeah I was highlighting how people are freaking out for no reason because overtime is needed when the amount of work exceeds the current production capacity. So even if a company scheduled 80 hour weeks, they would still have to account for the remaining production needs, which most certainly would require overtime pay because it would exceed 160 hours. I agree with you, fucker. I work in manufacturing, and if my company was dumb enough to burn us out with 80 hours a week just to pinch pennies, some will quit, some will have to take time off because of increased safety incidents, and we won't meet production needs because we'll hit a bottleneck. we can only go so fast before the gains on labor actually start to decline. I’ve repeatedly preached this: a tax free overtime isn’t a benefit if you cannot get the overtime to begin with. And if you think the companies are happy to pay overtime, you are actually mistaken: they would rather pick up a part-time employee to cover those hours at the regular rate, than to pay you Time and a half/double rate for those same hours worked. And if worse comes to worse… They will adjust their operation hours so that they’ll NEVER have to pay it. I WAS RIGHT!!!! 🤣
First of all, people are already working 160 hours a month, now. secondly, people who are working over time without pay are salary workers, not wage workers if your a salary you won’t get over time because it’s negotiated in contract if you’re a wage worker, they have to pay you overtime . if you don’t know the difference between salary and wage workers then you’ll get confused for this policy partitions are just hoping you don’t know the difference because they believe the common people are imbeciles
@@Anthony-v7z2t you’re missing the point: the current method ensures you receive the overtime if you exceed 40 hours in a given WEEK at your typical 40 hour/week business to be reflected in your paycheck for that reporting period. This one calls for overtime to be paid out should you exceeded a cumulative 160 hours for the MONTH. So if you pick up six extra hours before the month is over, your schedule will be flexed so that you are short six hours later in your schedule to offset whatever you just picked up. If it becomes too frequent then they will just hire someone to pick up the windfall hours so that they never fall into overtime again. The goal is No or minimal overtime on a regular day. I know good and damn well the difference between a salary worker and a wage worker. I was also in charge of scheduling for two companies at a certain point and had this divulged to me by my superiors. It’s a scummy practice to stay within budget when it’s not salaried pay. It’s the reason why a lot of employees have worked schedules that seem to be capped at 39.5 hours for the week. You “feel” like you are full-time, but you really are not. If you are a salaried worker, you are not worried about the hours. The hours are inconsequential because your pay is set. However, most workers in the United States are not salary workers: they are hourly. So this DOES apply to THEM!

@@deusvult1280 Not only that, but foreign debt is like the hardest one to pay, It's not like national debt where you can simply roll over debt with more bonds ("oh but unsustainable", dude, *every* country on the face of the Earth does that). Also, foreign debt requires foreign money to be paid, for example Bolivia cannot pay their debt in dollars with bolivian bolivars, they can exchange their currency to dollar, however that ends up creating a maxi-devaluation since It floods the market with bolivian bolivars and can end up completely crippling the economy. The IMF solution is essentiatly what economists call a technical recession, i.e. decreasing economic growth deliberatly so imports will cease, and the best to make this is by austerity, that way the country will end up exporting more than importing and that will increase the flow of foreign exchange into the country which then can be used to pay the foreign debt. The IMF provides conditional loans, which in short means that the country taking the loans needs to abides to a series of policies proposed by the IMF to receive the very needed loan (many reasons for that, one of which is that the lack of foreign exchange can end up throwing the country in a autarchy, which is simply a closed economy without any capacity to import and export, this can happen since the lack of foreign exchange can make the costs for foreign commerce become prohibitive, which in turn means that the country won't get access to many inputs they need to produce). So, very basically, the crisis on Greece wasn't caused by short work weeks. It was a problem of acquiring Euros for their economy (big problem for countries on the "periphery" of the European Union, they need austerity since they cannot acquire Euros by emission of money like the US, otherwise many State function and payments would become impossible, others like France and Germany are fine since they're some of the most advanced economies in the world, their productivity increases all the time thanks to scientific advance in great way paid by the State).

It took me a while to realize what this meant. If you work a salaried, but non-exempt job like for example, a 9-5 office job - taking one vacation day or PTO day in the month will mean that you won't qualify for overtime unless you work a ridiculous amount of hours to make that up. It also means that if you work a job with non-set schedules like retail for example, they can overwork you for three weeks then cut your hours the last week.
Yes, it varies state by state right now. Some are OT after 8 hrs no matter what. Some are OT after 40 hrs in a week. The 8hr plus OT is always more. And in a week with a holiday the holiday hours dont count towards the 40 work hours so no OT that week 😢
But then if they work you like a dog for 3 weeks of the month, then you get a week off and they've screwed themselves, or you get overtime for that week. How does the employer win?
@@Stewylewythey work someone else like a dog that week. And you'd still need to be present. Plus idk about you but a week of 12-14 hour days wrecks my shit
I thought the same thing but realized it's based on how you break it up. Because you can work 45 hours one week and get overtime even though you worked 39.5 hours the previous week. But if it's 160 hr per month your employer could just not schedule you a few hours at the end of the month instead of paying out.
@@bill8039my job could never have us work 40 hours one week and 20 the next the pharmacy would collapse. I thought on a weekly basis when going over 40 hours you wouldn’t have to pay taxes on Overtime

For the Internet Math Nerds who goes "HURR DURR IT'S STILL 40 HOURS PER WEEK", clearly you are only good at math and not labor laws. Why do they even tell people their vote matters if they dont? If you arent actually letting every vote count, and then giving credit to THAT party for that vote, then what the hell? Instead, they ONLY MATTER when it comes to the state counting them and then deciding what side they are on. That's already screwed up, but on top of that, it results in 50 chances for a states numbers to be altered by 50 different sets of officials. Some of which hold a lot of power. Just COUNT OUR VOTES.
You give each state a number of electoral votes based on the amaount of people being represented within said state.... and then have all those votes go to ONE candidate? …but 40 hours a week times four would equal 160 hours a month…
I don't put it above anyone in management to try though and that's what kind of scares me. We do have some incompetent people in powerful positions that would be stupid enough to try it.
@@ImInUrHd yep. It’s detrimental to shift working employees and will cost a lot of money to the working class. I’m not politically loyal to any party. It doesn’t look good considering his bombshell nominees it seems the only qualification is unwavering loyalty, essentially he is appointing a lot of yes men, I would guess it’s going to greatly diminish the “checks and balances” systems of the government… I think In this situation hindsight is definitely going to be 20/20 however I’m not sure the other radical left option would’ve been much better than our current radical right. It’s unfortunate for us, but throughout the course of the USA the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Don’t really know. All I know is I make almost 6 figures and with the prices of everything up about 150-200%% I feel like I am still making mid 20s an hour. I just turned 30 this year and I’m afraid for my future senior self as I struggle to get where I want to be to feel financially sound to be able to not work until I drop dead on the job…from the course we’ve taken in past decade it doesn’t appear I’ll be able to accomplish that.
If you work at McDonald’s yea.
@ yeah I understand the point but what you’re saying is logical is just the one thing I’m confused. Why is everyone blaming Trump? He didnt it write the policy he said himself. He has no interest in it.
@ because the people he is nominating in his cabinet had everything to do with project 2025 including the heritage foundation. It’s kind of weird to put people in prominent positions when you don’t support the doctrine they wrote for you while you execute what you said you don’t agree with.

He was adamant about getting rid of the Department of education. That is in project 2025.
He was adamant about removing diversity incentives from every facet of the society. That is also in Project 2025.
Are you seeing the pattern?
It doesn’t seem like he disagrees with it. He is simply saying he disagrees with it… And his supporters don’t challenge him on it compared to what he’s doing that is moving in lock step with what it suggests. 🤣
Does that mean truck drivers can stop after 160 hours.

@@wademiller2376 “Greece defaulted on a debt of €1.6 billion to the IMF in 2015. 1. The financial crisis was largely the result of structural problems that ignored the loss of tax revenues due to systematic tax evasion.” So again a problem caused by the rich

You now work 80 hours a week, no OT, and then youre off for two weeks, but because no OT, you have to find a second job thats just going to demand the same thing. Thats 12 hour days, 7 days a week, in perpetuity. The "weekend" is now the 4 hours between work and sleep every day. Yep, thats legalized slavery.
Most people do not work 80 hrs per week with two weeks off. Wtf are you on??
@@adamb3455somebody didn’t watch the video. They could absolutely do this to you under the parameters of a 180 hour work month, and absolutely WILL do it if it will make their bottom line go up. They do not care, and neither does Trump.
@logthelog_2 he said "do not" as in most Americans do not work that many hours
Personally I will work 160 hours in one week and have 3 weeks off to be able to save my time and expenses having to spread it between 4 weeks.
Exactly how much overtime do you get with 40 hours a week???? Your going to make the same money and save 10 days of travel and wasted time traveling
Stop the insanity!!!!😮Vote Blue in November💙💙💙💙
It's not true. Dnt be fooled and use your own judgment.
@lalainerecasata7495 The fuck you mean it's not true? It's fact. It's written down in the dam plan . I mean sure they might not deliver on there plan but it's not like the plan doesn't exist?????
@@logthelog_2 there is proj 2025 but Trump has nothing to do with it! Read more!
You mean the insanity that Biden created??Yeah I’m sure voting for blue again would help soooo much🙄
Vote for red to TRULY stop the insanity 🔴🔴🔴
It's against taxing your overtime therefore giving you more take-home pay vote❤
40 hours times 4 weeks is 160.. i do that already.
Okay, and?
There are only 196hrs in a week.
3rd world countries work less hours per week than the US.
Plus they have more benefits and free healthcare.
A message to the US.
You can do better.
24 hours times 7 days is 168.
Thats bs Im from a third world country and most people work between 40-60 hours a week and yes we get free healthcare but we also lose about 40% of salary in taxes.
Not going back!!
Yes! You are!
Yeah, my friend said he voted for Trump because he promised no taxes on overtime...I mentioned that he will do that because they will change what is considered overtime. Guess I was right😂
First of all, people are already working 160 hours a month, now. secondly, people who are working over time without pay are salary workers, not wage workers if your a salary you won’t get over time because it’s negotiated in contract if you’re a wage worker, they have to pay you overtime . if you don’t know the difference between salary and wage workers then you’ll get confused for this policy partitions are just hoping you don’t know the difference because they believe the common people are imbeciles
@@Anthony-v7z2t Bro, nobody should be allowed to work overtime without pay. That's insanity to begin with. No matter your form of employment. And then, there's a difference in 160 month and 40 hour week. Because they can force you to work overtime some weeks, and not others, and not need to play you. Also, American work "ethics" are a joke. You don't get proper vacations, sick leave, or maternity leave. It just all sucks.
I thought the same thing the will make 50 or 60 work weeks
@@SysterYsterVery common for teachers all over the world unfortunately.
Get a better job I’m paid hourly and this won’t effect me at all lmao
40 a week times 4 =160 that would be a nice relief 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Accept when you realize that dosent include any additional hours that you may be forced by your boss to work without pay by months end
Project 2025= Project 666
@@raymonddipasquale5297 No Ray, 666 is what the Reichs, Hillbillarys, Kerrys and PresBo would like !
This isn’t even Trump’s project. He didn’t make it.
Whoa! SATAN wrote it?! Awesome!
Ok that’s was stupid
In California, we get OT after 8 hrs in a work DAY. I really hate the thought of going back to a 40 hr work week with OT, but this is a scammy employer's wet dream.
Sometimes Iam so glad I live in the Golden State.
I live in Ohio. I only have my OT paid daily because it's in our union contract. I never had that at other jobs.
@@GirtonOramsay boo hoo
Happy for you guys.
Even happier for those in Europe, aka ‘California on steroids’ 😂
I like workin 4 10 hour days too.. doubt its common there.. 3 days off is nice though.
Project 2025 has about 8% approval now. Kevin what's his face must be in shock to know that even the base he intended this for hates it 😂
When has that ever stopped the crazies? They would implement this evil plan anyway.
I’m surprised it’s even that high.
If they are comfortable publishing that document, I dont want to know what other ideas they had that they didnt publish
8% is still pretty high for the madness that the policies present.
Is there a point of reference for the per cent age referring?
Except Project 2025 is not endorsed by ANY Republican
Key points like this need to be widely publicised: maybe a daily section in local newspapers, and local radio stations.
Most folks don't read newspapers anymore & probably only half even listen to the radio. Many people stream their music, even in their cars... (I am not one of those more modern folks who "stream," but it is rare that I pick up a newspaper.)
Yeah or you could just read the document yourself if you care so much.
Average of 4 weeks a month, times a 40 hour week is 160 hours. So could be required to work overtime early in the month without overtime pay then not get any work on other weeks of the month. Seems like the rich people want us to be their slaves
At their whim.
BINGO!!!
40x52=2080. 2080/12=173.3333. 173.33333>160. More overtime or more free time. Sounds like a good trade off to me
Did anyone else notice 40 hours a week is the same as 160 hours a month? .
yes of course.
it's saying that a business could overwork you earlier in the month and cut your hours later in the month (eg. 2 80 hour weeks and 2 0 hour weeks) with no overtime pay
Get it?
@darthowen77 so your mad at your goin to get paid the same
@@tylorbrock9278no it would mean that if you worked 80 hours a week earlier in the month you’d only get paid for 40 of them since there’s no overtime pay and you’d still have reached your 160 hour/month quota, essentially letting the business split up your hours in a way that makes you work the required amount for less pay
@@tylorbrock9278yes precisely
Since 40 hours a week equals 160 hours a month I don't see what the problem is.
Your math is correct but you’re missing the bigger picture. They get free labor
To see the problem you would have to watch more than 7 seconds of this extremely long 18 second video. Watch it in parts if you have to.
40 hours a week is 173.3 hours per month. Unless all your months are 28 days long, which they aren't.
@@tompiper9276 It's 4 weeks or 28 days.
I am 40. I quit working. This reality is not worth my time nor energy. Let the decay proceed. Endless trauma.

I want to quit working
I’m 38 and just quit working again… gonna relax and travel. I’m done

It's all becoming too familiar.
1911 Colorado was the first to popularize and legalize a 5 day 40 hour work week. Look into the Ludlow strike and massacre.
We’ve been spending most our lives living in an Amish paradise!
I’ve churned butter once or twice!
This can happen! I worked for a private medical clinic that did this years ago. Would work late several evenings, then they would send you home early on another day, so they didn’t have to pay the OT. Wealthy doctors trying to screw over their staff.
I had a job where I had to take an hour and half unpaid lunch.
Good thing you have the freedom to NOT WORK THERE. Crisis averted.
With a busy booming economy, I don’t think big business is going to worry about cutting hours 😂
Robert Reich is a blessing to this country. Sadly, many do not listen.
