That's a great Idea for reusing / recycling, although if I get a new router, I usually keep the previous one as a spare, in case anything goes wrong with the current one, then you've got something you can use, while waiting for a replacement, broadband routers do seem very reliable, considering they are switched on 24/7.
Thanks for commenting. (have you subscribed?) The parcel could be posted out up to 6 weeks after the new router was fitted. So it was sort of covered. But I had gone from wired to fibre 👍 Thanks again. Jamie
we have this one but its not being used but i did find a way to use it as a ethernet and wifi switch box adding more ports without paying to buy a dedicated switch box like TPlink also cutting old tech waste i dont notice much speed difference when connected to the old modem like a switch
Oh I didn’t know there was a sealable bit inside I just tied it up put a tape on the end. One time BT sent us around 3 or 4 modems by mistake to a new address and they were charging us on all those.
@@twcmaker Ah I got the bag after the new router. No instructions came with it. Just a note to send it on or get a collection. My new flat it took a while to get the fibre in, can’t drill holes anywhere else in property and so the first team tried and didn’t succeed. The second one, The A team, had to drill past a metal plate shunt the direction upwards from a storage area to the corridor.
BT is very cunning! We have just left BT due to their poor service, very slow internet, and they've sent us an email saying that they'll be sending a return bag and want the old router bag in 50 days time or we'll be charged £50.00! Off course after 2 weeks no bag has arived. We logged in to BT and to our surprise there's a button to click and ask for the return bag. Had we not did this we would have been charged £50.00. Very missleading and poor, as per usual from BT!
I am trying to return my old router. The new one came without a return label and bag for the old one. I have phoned 3 weeks ago to request one but I am still waiting. I cannot get through on line to make this request, it just keeps putting me round in circles. Can anyone please help ?
I want to be responsible like this. My router looks the same as yours and I got it late 2017 but I haven't been sent a bag or any correspondence regarding returns. Is it because my router is over 5 years old?
@@twcmaker I got an email just after I sent this and its asking for the smart hub to be returned except the smart hub 2 is what I just got sent. My other hub is a home hub 4/5
I have had a similar experience. I have two old BT routers (both u/s) though BT has not requested their return nor am I able to find on their website any instructions/postage labels as to how I am to proceed to return these items.
i have finished my contract with bt, am i contractually obliged to return their equipment after that? secondly i can recycle myself, why do i need bt to do it and penalise me if i dont return their old things even after paying them for 2 years?
@@twcmaker It was a 2 years contract and they initially sent me a hybrid connect and then the hub, I used the hub all this time not hyrbid connect. now i finished my contract and moving to sky, they sent me the bag to return the devices, and I cant locate the hybrid connect.
I'd just send what you have. By the way, I am in no way connected to BT. I thought the video would help some, as a way of helping BT be responsible for their waste. Thank you. Jamie
@@twcmaker Thanks for that, understood you are not from BT. Interestingly, they sent me a mail asking specifically for that hybrid connect and saying I will get penalised if I dont return it £60+.
Thank you 🙂
You're welcome 👍

Have they asked you to send it back?
@@twcmaker Yes they have
Search on Google or the BT website for the returns address.
Hope that helps.
Jamie

The resealable bag was sent before the new Router. With strict instructions to ensure I sent it back to BT.

@GoldKingsMan sounds like fun.

I think there's a lot like that now. Trying to find ways to get your money into their account.

You should have been sent a bag. Mine came before the new router. Give BT a call. Or get an address off the Internet. Hope that helps. Jamie
@@twcmaker thank you for your comment. I have already phoned bt to order a return bag and they said it would be sent , but I’m still waiting.

I had gone over to fibre optic and this was to be returned.

Like 'Waiting for Godot' I presume?@@randomness051
What if I don’t have a box for it?
Just put it straight in the bag. Maybe put Sellotape around the feet to stoop them springing out.

If they wanted it back, they would have sent a return bag. That's how I understand it.

Just send everything you have and tell them you sent it all back 🙊
