Santana played this song together with P. Green on they induction in R'n'R Hall of Fame back in 1998. Interestly I found Clapton voice here reminds on Peter voice on his late work with Splinter group. Though Peter would like this jam. God bless mr. Clapton and mr. Santana. Rest in peace mr. Green one of the finest guitar player ever.
One of the great things about EC, besides his musical genius, is his humility. Very rare in that world. He plays guitar. That's it. Never been an egomaniac. Never never never. Love that about him.
Realizing after hearing and seeing these two greatest musicians and their supporting casts....the hourglass sands of time haven't ever been fuller and keep refilling...wow the best times are comming always...remember eternity and jusus all the way we go

It takes balls to be doing what Clapton is - with his obviously diminished capabilities. Hats off to him for pursuing this project and also getting up there with the best of 'em
I'd never been to Crossroads before. I'm so glad (I'm so glad, I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad) that he made this one happen. Two amazing days. If there's another one, I won't miss it, even if I have to travel.
It takes "balls" for Santana to get on the same stage with Clapton! I've always liked Santana. However, his playing has never been his strong suit! He can milk a sustain with the best of them though!😂
Clapton has been diagnosed with arthritis in his hands , this also looks to me to be unrehearsed and he just came on stage as a request by Carlos . I have seen both of these fine guitarists live as early as 1978 , they are two of the greatest axman in music . They really dont need to prove their chops .
I too had the sense it wasn't well rehearsed. Lots of coordination going on in the moment. I don't know where the lyrics about peace and understanding come from, do you? They definitely aren't part of Roadhouse Blues. They're very Carlos Santana-ish, not at all Jim Morrison-ish. 😅✌️
Peter Green could smoke them both with one note and one vocal verse. They didn't even mention his name, though he wrote the song and just passed away. What a shame. RIP Peter. You surpassed them all.
@@RockandRollWomanBlack Magic Woman wasn't very Greeny-ish either. It went over like a wet rag. I was waiting for some Green inspired searing guitar from Clapton. Nothing.

@@mambobodega7028 Thanks. I had added Ray's name in some videos, but not all. I have yet to find a simple way to manage so many videos. Not by artist, title, date of recording or even date of uploading. I'm sure people who do this for money have a system. I just do it to share the music. I'll get to the other Santana posts when I can. Thanks again.
Carlos and Eric are about the same age, the biggest difference I see is that Carlos still has the fire and energy of his youth, and Eric looks a bit lost. But that saddens me, because I really wanted to see Eric play Santana music well, and it clearly looks like he can't perform like he used to
You can tell here that eric has lost alot of his dexterity in his hands..I saw in an interview it was probably a year or more ago where eric talked about how this arthritis he has made it really painful to play the guitar...in fact he said that he is kinda glad when it's over because the pain gets so bad..it really saddens me to see this happening to one of my guitar heroes but father time takes it's toll on all of us...😏
Clapton going through the motions. Big fan. Not of these golden years concerts. The current 2023 videos of him and Stephen Stills are like someone woke them up from the rest home to wheel them in to play a few. I think only Paul McCartney has the ooomph going.
@cox9909, I don't think this was planned. Each band/performer has a forty-five minute sound check the day before. (or earlier in the day) They practice together. I think because Eric and Carlos are such great friends, Carlos invited Eric right before they went on. Since this was the festival closer, I think Eric agreed, because of his friendship. I think had Eric known that Carlos was going to stand with his back to the audience and him most of the time, he would have declined. Even Carlos' band were flying by the seat of their pants in attempt to help Eric, and keep Carlos in the spotlight. I don't blame Eric, one bit, for his quick exit. He's a gentleman, but even a gentleman can get annoyed.
@raymondcarver476I'm inclined to agree with you, except for the fact at 1:35 Eric pointed at the mic as if to say, "this one?" I know for a fact each artist/group had forty-five minutes for a sound check or practice, and Eric not even knowing which mic he was supposed to sing into, makes it look like Carlos asked his good friend at the last minute, nonrehearsed. Either way it sounded awesome! So I'm thinking no harm, no foul. Two titans of rock on the same stage, who have a great friendship. ❤
@raymondcarver476 I guess I'm just saying a sound check is different than a rehearsal. The two are not mutually exclusive, but they are not the same either.
I'm not sure they ever rehearsed this. But since Roadhouse Blues goes into peace and understanding lyrics that are very Santana, not at all Doors, I could be wrong.
I had the sense that he was facing the musicians behind him, not deliberately facing away from the stage. It seemed this wasn't well rehearsed, if it was rehearsed at all, and a lot of coordinating was going on in real time. It changes a bit when they launch into Roadhouse Blues. Who knows what was actually in people's heads. I certainly don't.
It's from my phone, and I'm one of the many in the music food chain who make it work by paying for music and tickets. I like to share, so this video is free! There will be a professional film, which you will be able to buy. A few others have also posted video from these two days. There were mix issues at times. H.E.R. did her first number without a working mic. Sometimes the vocals were too far back in the mix. And it's a stadium, so sound bounces around.
No one plays and sings Black Magic Woman better than the originator, Peter Green. They should have ditched the Santana latin version and played it straight Fleetwood Mac extended version blues in honor of the late Peter Green. No bells and whistles. Full on wailing blues guitars. It sounds way too soft and flowery on this take. Way too busy. And at least mention Peter's name. No respect at all.

Not a patch on the original version written and performed by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac version
And who is the third guitar player? Mr X?
Tommy Anthony
