Rock Candy Funk Party, with Joe Bonamassa, at the Baked Potato, 12/8/2024
Rock Candy Funk Party is "an American jazz-funk band from Los Angeles, California," per Wikipedia.
Drummer Tal Bergman, guitarist Ron DeJesus, guitarist Joe Bonamassa, bassist Mike Merritt and keyboardist Renato Neto.
I have no ownership interest in any of this, and make no money posting it. I want to share with those who don't live in southern California.
Hope you enjoy it!

This was a spectacular, chills up the spine performance. Hope the sound fidelity of my phone recording doesn't destroy its power. Personnel: Stewart Duncan, on mandolin here, also played fiddle and guitar and sang at this show. Duncan was a collaborator in the Goat Rodeo Sessions, with Yo Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile, and Aiofe O'Donovan. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goat_Rodeo_Sessions Vikto...

Fabulousness ❤
Great job TAJ. I can't wait to see you at the Cains ballroom this month in tulsa ❤🎉
Thank you, Drummer Tal Bergman, guitarist Ron DeJesus, guitarist Joe Bonamassa, bassist Mike Merritt and keyboardist Renato Neto are best enjoyed in small clubs. While business and profit work on large scales of production, music and creativity, as a whole, usually do not. It is always a treat to see and listen to music in an intimate scale, thank you for hi-lighting everyone’s labor, including yours for recording and sharing it. ☮
I miss Jimi Hendrix. I was lucky enough to see him twice in 1970
Taj is Stevie Rays mini me
Sorry Joe is not a jazz player !
@bubbanose9580 It's in quotes because it's someone else's characterization of the nature of Rock Candy Funk Party. I think it came from Wikipedia. Normally I would credit that - I was probably in a hurry, and Wikipedia is not a stable source anyway. Can you play some jazz without being "a jazz player?" These terms and categories are all in the ear of the beholder.
Ok, this was really bad ass. Reminded me of the old days when I used to spend much of my time listening to Brand X and Weather Report and several other fusion bands. I miss those days. Thanks so much for sharing this.
@jstnxprsn I feel really fortunate to have the Baked Potato as a local venue. Getting to see the likes of Joe, as he introduces himself, Steve Lukather, Tony Levin ... I share when I can.
@RockandRollWoman Color me envious AF. Even if I lived next door, I couldn't afford to go see them on my fixed income.
Oh cool. Looking forward to watching this later. Btw, after looking you up, I realized we had an email exchange once, when you were first elected regarding immigration. I've come around to your POV as things developed over the years. LOLOLOL I'll let you know what I think of the concert later.
That's interesting! It was, what, 30 years ago? Would love to know more about it.
You can send me a pm on Facebook.
@@RockandRollWoman Oh great. YT is deleting my messages again. Jst because I mentioned the website where I can be found. It's a platform with a whale icon. - Jstn Green
Taj is not a savant. A savant is a person who has an exceptional aptitude in one particular field, such as music or mathematics, despite having significant impairment in other areas of intellectual or social functioning. This is absolutely not the case with Taj. Taj is a prodigy, not a savant.
@@VeraNarishkin You're correct. Brain fart, perhaps.
YOUNG FOREVER YOUNG
Do you know his line up at this gig? I saw him July 2023.
There is another up-and-coming blues guitarist that just won blues guitarist of the year in Minneapolis Minnesota. His name is Dylan Salfer. He’s headed for the blues contest in Nashville, Tennessee in January.2025 don’t miss it.. you can find him on UA-cam under Dylan Salfer band. He kick’s ass….
😮😮. You lucky dog!!!! I spent more time than I'd like to think about looking up ticket info for those shows on my slow phone. Could not bring myself to reconcile the prices (fortunately we saw him a year ago), but it looked like it would be a great venue. Thanks for the video!
🕶
Ringo is in fantastic shape for his age. Lord bless you Ringo
Класс смотреть настоящих звёзд.
I hope Richard is feeling better.
🤩Star and Stars ... And the Lady inbetween!🤩
Hi! Good to see you!
Jesus Christ, thank God this kid is keeping the blues alive and well.Damn I knew he would be good but wow he's going down as one of the best ,wow
@chriscollins2647 I'm hoping to see him at NAMM again in January 2025. I doubt I'll have a better view though!
Thank you, I saved these for later,, some at your visit had high 'head-room' ☮
not bad
He''s fourteen....FOURTEEN!!!!!! God bless him, I hope he stays healthy in every way and continues to serve the music, his talent and his fans.
It's interesting to watch him go through puberty. Another prodigy to watch is Saxon Weiss, though he is more of an acoustic player. I think he's 12 now, and I first saw him play with Val McCallum and Jackson Browne a couple of years ago.
Kids grow up so fast!
Amazing SRV!
Love it!
When you play front and center with Carlos Santana at 11 you’re doing pretty good. I started following him around that time. Kid is magic on a guitar.
@mickg222 There aren't many like Taj. And it seems he is sufficiently grounded to avoid the all too common troubles with alcohol and drugs. Another up and coming young one is Saxon Weiss. At 12, he's already had a slot at the Beachlife Festival, and often appears with the likes of Joe Bonamassa and Val McCallum, Jackson Browne’s long-time guitarist. I have videos, but haven't created a play list for him yet. On acoustic, he brings to mind Clapton.
Was this kid born the day SRV died???
You are seeing the future of blues rock right here
Hes the second coming of srv, jimmy page,bb,and hendricks all rolled into 1!!!....he should do a medley of parts of all said artists songs and call it paranormal activity! Ahhh....and just in time for Halloween 😮
Him and Stevie Ray Vaughan would have one heck of a jam session if SRV were still here.
Stevie Ray Vaughn reincarnate
settle down a bit brother
I have seen him before and was impressed, but I think I just saw the ghost of my all time favorite. It’s like Stevie is back!
He is a phenomenon
❤❤❤💋
FOURTEEN years old!?!? Holy @#*$
Taj was a child phenom which gave him a lot of notoriety. He’s now older & will have to come up with his own material to make it into the big league.
That bass player needs to chill the f* out. 🤣
I dont think you know what a savant is. You baiscally called him a retarded genius lol
This kid is such a badass!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wow! Robert Plant still got it all. Voice, hair and a great band.
Jimi Hendrix would be 82 if he lived... wonder what he'd think of Taj?
@@michaelmacpherson-wm6mh I think he'd love it.
l love his style.
kid got the come shot face and hes only ever used his hand.
i got to meet him<3
Hes the next Stevie Ray
