as someone with a background in linguistics, I mean he's not wrong, like w and similar sounds are glides, which are made by going from a vowel sound into another vowel sound.
I feel like people aren’t explaining it very well haha, the thing is is that he puts the emphasis in the wrong place. the emphasis is usually put in the first syllable, whereas vanta puts more emphasis on the ‘I’ at the end. instead of YAO-i he says it as yao-I. of course it’s not a big deal though, it’s a quirk of his!

That's literally how you should say it though. "wie/wee" in English has the same IPA as "oui" in French. So "ya-oui" is correct.
