Amazing that I’ve seen people want to get rid of this deck because of the borders but they could easily be cut off. They look great trimmed!! I purchased this after seeing your video.
I bought this pre-loved so I didn't mind trimming it as it was cheap! It looks amazing. I used scissors because I'm reluctant to shell out £20 for a guillotine and I do need to buy a small corner rounder as I always think big rounded corners spoil the look. Thanks for sharing this - I love my Spiral Tarot now!
I never realized just how beautiful the artwork is! I love the Edwardian imagery so much. I do want to purchase it, not sure if I'd trim it. Haven't been willing to go there with any of my decks yet. Thank you for the video, it was great seeing the artwork so clearly.
Thank you for this video. The cards look amazing trimmed. I can't believe how different they become! I get my deck tomorrow, and can't wait to trim and edge (in gold..) Thanks again, Brian.
I'm excited for you - there are many wonderful and warm people will welcome you to the community (and many of them have left comments on this video). Have fun!
I'm about to trim my copy and I honestly wouldn't have considered buying it if I hadn't seen numerous videos of it trimmed. The artwork is so very special. I just can't begin to understand the choice of borders to begin with, it blows my mind. I would love to see it bigger and borderless as you suggested.
Oh, wouldn't that be amazing? If you search for "Ask The Cards" and "Spiral Tarot" on Google, you'll find a site where you can see all the cards, borderless, and in large format. You can really apprecaite the artwork on that site. An amazing deck.
I just bought this deck in an auction for a bit more than $6. I can't wait for it to come and I'll trim them immediately. They're gorgeous and I'm sure they'll be my favorite go to deck for the New Year which is 2020 at this point. Just shared your take on the deck on Avalon Camerons cardslinger group.
I adore this deck! So nervous to trim mine, but they look much much better without those borders!! I'm literally salivating looking at the trimmed cards lol. I would love to campaign for a larger borderless edition!!! The Spiral Tarot is a beautifully rendered spiritual deck, definitely deserving of another print run. They need to make improvements to better showcase Kay's stunning artwork🤗
Wow Brian, I agree trimming the deck makes a difference. I can see me going from not connecting with this deck to enjoying working with it once I trim it.
Hi Brian, I also purchased this deck last week,it had been on my list to buy for a while. It's beautiful but the borders as you say are awful, I snipped mine as well! I would love the accompanying book but can only find it selling for huge amounts. I would appreciate any other insights you have about the deck in the future. Thanks for great video content.
Ha, interesting: I was just checking this deck out to see if it's something I still want as it was in my initial wish list.. Must say they look so so much better trimmed! The 5 of pentacles.. love how it's shown in this deck. Thank you for showing!! :)
I'm still not sure :D I was thrown off a bit by the borders... but now I see the real beauty of them. Sigh, whips out the 'to get list' :D Ha, 2018 already looks like is going to be interesting as here I am adding to my list although just a while ago I was all like: I'm good, have only 5 more decks I need.. lol
Really like the look of this deck, think I may have to get it 😀 the card you said reminds you of a pice of art - it reminds me of a piece called ‘Flaming June’ can’t remember the artist though 🙂
I have this Tarot Deck. A week before I got these cards I had drawn the spiral design on the back of the cards just on a random bit of paper. My partner at the time for my birthday took me to a Spiritual Shop and told me to buy anything I would like for my birthday. I could only see the Strength Card on the deck pack that was on the shelf. There were other cards in a book that a lady showed me and said if there were any cards that I was drawn to that she could ordered the deck in. I was then drawn to the Temperance card and I said I liked that one, she said that card is from the Spiral Deck that is up their on the shelf. I was then drawn to The Lovers card and she said that card was from the same deck. So she got the pack down off the shelf for me and we purchased it. The whole time I did not see the reverse of the pack until I got home and opened up my deck, and that same design I drew a week earlier was on the back of the deck. So I knew right then and there that the Spiral Tarot Deck was for me. :-)
Brian Cormack Carr yes it does deserve to be in a larger size! I trim by lining up the corners of the borders and slicing through that but with the rounded corners on this deck it might be a little more tricky for me 😅
I did it using my dad's paper cutter, which had guidelines on it. I had to do a couple of cards more than once because I left a little bit of border at the corners on some cards - but they were very forgiving!
This deck is just about to move out of my shopping cart, into the shipping lane... Love it! However, the book is just no where to be found without sacrificing an arm or leg, now a days. How do you find the book? Is it worth said sacrifice? Thank you for sharing!
The book is good, but I would say that you don't need it to enjoy and get a lot out of the deck. I actually reviewed the book in a separate video, see what you think. And be sure to check out the information box under the video - there, I listed the references for all the major arcana cards in the deck. ua-cam.com/video/nD3VeaDEK4I/v-deo.html
Wow, I’d seen this deck but wasn’t able to look past the revolting borders. It looks like a completely different deck! I wish US games would reissue without. Not sure my trimming skills are up to the job 😄
Brian Cormack Carr hmm, not sure I have the patience for the whole 78 degrees of wisdom 😄 how long did it take you? I do love the way astrological info is incorporated into the imagery of this deck though so, perhaps ...
I love the look of this deck but I'm always put off by the fact that the big guide book seems to be hard to come by. Your trimmed version looks great (even the Hierophant, like you said).
Love this deck, it is one of my favourites. Do not mind the borders actually as the cards are not on the large side. Have the companion book for this as well, it is quite good.😊
My Spiral Tarot Is old, and my borders are more purple than pink. I always liked them except I did not like it with the red border. They are stunning without those borders. I am going to wind up trimming mine now. That card doesn’t look like a particular piece of art to me, but it does look like an Edvard Munch in its style.
I kept seeing it and not noticing it until I saw one of the card images online without the border, and that tipped me into falling head-over-heels in love with it....
What an absolutely beautiful deck... just stunning!
Two Spirit It’s so lovely - definitely a deck that has just reached out and grabbed me.
Brian Cormack Carr I endured up ordering it, and it’s just been delivered. Looking forward to using it. Thanks again for showing it 🙏🏼
Two Spirit Excellent, enjoy!

truly amazing with the cut borders!!! i will definitely be doing this,

T. Ayllon Wonderful! Enjoy them. 😊
I didn’t even recognize these images without the borders 😂 they look amazing. Thanks for this!
Wow Brian, I agree trimming the deck makes it pop. I’m seeing a deck I couldn’t connect with in a new light now.
Wow! What a huge difference with the trimmed borders. I love it! This is honestly a beautiful and great deck. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome Nancy - the trimming really brings the art to life, doesn't it? Nice to have you here.
Thank you! I am new to the community and really appreciate your videos!

What do you think of the woman's mustache on the 5 of cups? Thank you, Anne
Oh yes, I know that some people see it that way - but to me it just looks like the shadow of her upper lip! :)

The 4 of swords reminds me of a Matisse painting. The expressionistic style on the floral pattern that makes me think of him.

dee clark I hope to do a video on the symbology of this deck once I have the book in my hands...

So far, it's speaking really clearly in readings. Definitely worth it, I'd say. If you do get it, I'd love to hear your thoughts! :)

I hear you! 😆

Sir Frederic Leighton! Yes, you could be right - there’s a definite similarity. Thanks! I’ve been puzzling over that for ages!

How wonderful! I love it when tarot shows up for us in advance.... :)
Ugh it's amazing trimmed! 😀 I might get another copy and trim it just to try it out! 😉
It turned out to be pretty easy, since the borders are so clear! Such a great deck - wish it was available in a larger size...

Beautiful artwork, especially since the borders have been trimmed! What corner cutter did you use? Thanks for sharing😊
You're welcome! I used the 5mm cutter by Aidox for this.
Thanks!😊

Wonderful, thank you!

Jessica Starr TheStoryWitch If I can trim, I'm sure you can! 😂
It would be great to see this large size and borderless, wouldn't it?

Kelly Bear I spent more than I care to admit in buying the book (and I got a comparatively good deal on it) - so I hope it’s worth it!
Love this deck, it is one of my favourites. Do not mind the borders actually as the cards are not on the large side. Have the companion book for this as well, it is quite good.😊
Cosmic Arcana I'm looking forward to reading it - I can pick up on quite a lot of the symbolism in the deck already, but I'm sure I'm missing some...
Guess I'll get my scissors, what a difference. I love this deck but not drawn to use it. This is perhaps why?
Where did you find the book? Cheers.
I found a copy on eBay, and went for it. It wasn't cheap and is coming from Australia. It should be here any day now, so I'm starting to get antsy...

Yes, that could be it! There's something familiar about it that I haven't quite been able to put my finger on...
this deck never stood out until watching your video!
I kept seeing it and not noticing it until I saw one of the card images online without the border, and that tipped me into falling head-over-heels in love with it....
Klimt
Yes, a definite influence, I think!
